Now that we have seen what he can do over a season, what do people think of him now ?

Would you take him at United ?

Wouldn't take him over Ole but it would be a interesting spectacle to see what he does at a bigger club with more resources, he's got a crap Southampton team playing decent compact stuff, i think he would be a great shout for Arsenal tbh or Spurs when Mou is sacked.

Stop trying to give our manager to other clubs!
Not really known anything about him before and I guess he could have been the same at the other clubs he's managed but, the thing I've noticed with Ralph is he seems to be enjoying himself at Saints.
Hopefully that will continue and he has just signed a new contract, not that means much nowadays.

I think Spurs will be his next job. He’d be an interesting appointment for lots of clubs with bigger budgets. If he’d even slightly more clinical players we could have lost that game. Given his resources he’s doing brilliantly.
I suppose one mid table club for another is an ok step for big Ralph.
As for the second part; City, have more clinical players but lost to Southampton. All on the day really. Not give silly 1-0 goal start and Saints lose that game comfortably. Not sure he could handle a club challenging for European places.
Just getting plaudits for turning around their fortunes but they have modest expectations. If Chris Wilder was German they’d be saying he was a tactical genius

Have to admit I was wrong about this guy! You've been a fan from day one so fair play. Looks to be a very good tactician.
As mentioned earlier, so glad that you have come around and see his talent. Not everyone admit it always - cheers for that ,mate.

super happy for him. So much fun to see an Austrian manager do well in the Prem, thank god Southampton stuck with him after the 9-0.

One of the managers who can play both Bruno and Pogba together and both will contribute attacking wise without impacting the defensive stability.

Huge fan of this guy and have been since he came in.
I'd have him as my first pick after Solskjaer, if he left for whatever reason. I'm a sucker for a high press.

its the best way to play nowadays, you don’t need superstars to get results. I mentioned earlier in the thread this guy would be a good shout for a bigger job with a decent budget If he keeps going. Spurs Everton or Leicester level. They look like they are shopping for players with potential worth about 10-15 million. Walker Peters and Salisu look like decent signings who could improve a lot. He’ll need to get someone else in there to replace Højbjerg and that will be a key signing for them but yeah... fair play to him.

What I like is that he seems to be able to identity the problem and speak about it openly. He's a very good manager but his gameplans rely massively on optimum fitness. He's right about having a thin squad too.

 lack of players?? We could only name 5 subs because our entire B team set up are in lockdown following a positive covid result, also made 5 changes from out first XI still managed a satisfying 2-0 win :) Don't think we've ever lost at St Marys now I think about it.

They played out of their skins during the restart. 1 loss out of 9. Bit of an overreaction to losing a couple of games, 5 or 6 games in maybe.. but he can't expect to play like duracell bunnies straight away again. The squad is small but they had a 3 month break last time.

Expected big things from them this season.

It's still only a couple of games but interesting he's already identified the problems so time to correct that rather than crossing fingers. Interesting if they can do get better v Spurs on Sunday who also look in poor physical condition and will have long trip to Bulgaria.

Can't afford to lose Ings though.

Isn't it wrong to publicly criticise your players? Thought that was an overarching prinicple that just about everyone bar Mourinho subsribes to.

Well he was not specific. He talked about the whole team.

That Southampton shitshow wasn’t his fault. Kane played it through to Son 4 times. If your players can’t adapt themselves by dropping deeper or McCarthy starting higher, they shouldn’t play in the PL. Shocking.

You think he has nothing to do with playing a stupidly high defensive line?

Ok, I should have mentioned that I blame him for the first Son goal. Other than that, it’s all about the players adapting and dropping deep themselves. Watch Rooney’s interview on Sky. He mentions that even Fergie would let his players adapt themselves after conceding.

Wouldn''t be surprised if he was the first PL casualty of the season...
