Havertz's ball retention improved a lot from his first game. Quick learner he is. Intelligent too.

Imagine spending all that money on elite forwards and having Tammy as your striker

They're missing Pulisic. They lack depth in the wide positions. Havertz is playing decent football today. With Pulisic and Ziyech in opposite flanks, they should be creating a lot more chances - BUT who's there to score?

Thought they bought Werner just for that? He will move in the center pushing tammy out.

They didn't think their transfer business through enough imo. Bought too many attackers and now Lampard is having a hard time at figuring out how to get them all in the same team.

Who are these elite forwards? They signed only Werner for the striker position. Who did you expect at #9?

Crytal Palace press high up the field, but it really feels like they're just going through the motions, not enough aggression in it.

Have seen nothing special yet from Hudson-Odoi. He's supposed to be a top talent, no?

What is the point in Werner? He seems to just stroll about out wide. I didn't see much of him at RBL but wasn't he a central striker?
Why are Chelsea insisting on playing him out wide? He doesn't beat people, doesn't take people on. Seems a bit of a nothing player based on his Chelsea appearances so far this season.

Chelsea look like a FIFA career mode team with a semi pro skilled player deciding to pump the difficulty up to world class...

Thats my point. If youre going to spend hundreds of millions on attacking players then having a donkey as a CF is a huge oversight.
He is as out of place in that side as Kepa is.

They lure the opponents in for counter. That's how they killed us. Hodgson has trained their midfield well. When counter starts they rarely look out of position. Seems just linger around the right area.

I really don’t get why every pundit/commentator seems to rate Mason Mount so highly. I must be missing something with him
Helped Frank Lampard's Derby County reach the play offs. Plus eye catching flat top.

Me too. He has good work rate though. I rate Gilmore way above Mount.

he has to be uptop for us. I like abraham but he isnt a top 4 striker.

Get Giroud on to link our attack together. Sterile first half. Tammy doesn't suit playing against a team that defends like Palace.

Because he isnt good as a single striker. Either in a 2 striker system or as a winger that plays like a second striker (bit like Ronaldo). Overall he only fits in a quick transition/counter attacking setup, as a single striker or "creative" winger against deeper sitting teams he`s absolutely useless.

So they purchased a striker who doesn't fit the system they are trying to play :wenger:

I think Kante's a bit of a headache for Chelsea. Kovacic probably fits the team better but its hard to drop Kante.

100% this.

I've said it all along, that Werner has always been useless against deeper sitting teams.

Play him in a counter attacking setup, where he can use his pace/make his runs behind the last line and he'll play some good football.

If you don't do that, there's really nothing good or even great about him at all.

How long in to the season before lampard panics and giroud is back leading the line?
