Maguire could possibly be an ok defender for a team defending deep. What I don’t understand is the fact that Solskjaer clearly wants to play a higher line but then pins his hopes on a player that can’t do it. The terrifying thing is he’s no good and he’s currently the best centre back we’re willing to play.

Said it last season. Should never have been made captain after 5 months and he isn’t bad, but he isn’t very good either. He would be playing for Newcastle or Newcastle back in the day. His no better than Ronny Johnson/Henchoz from the 90/00s. He’s a secondary CB. We 100% can’t be playing a high line with him either. And we wonder why we can’t have FB’s that advance forward.

I said it on reddit and i will say it here again. The off season issue affected him more than he is willing to admit. He needs time off. Some of the decisions he makes on the pitch are uncharacteristic and he is playing at a level which is way below his standard. He needs help. Will he be willing to get it though,i am unsure.

It's baffling because non professionals on this forum pointed out a lot of these weaknesses yet scouts and whomever else was in involved thought he was good enough.
