Matic as a CB was strange. Why not just bring on a CB
What was even the point of such sub ? I thought when he brought Scott in he was going to tighten the midfield, but then he took off Axel then put Matic as a CB! What's the point and how was that going to help us comeback from the result or tighten the space ?

What was the point of bringing TFM in the last 10 minutes while we were chasing the game ?

What's going on ??!!

This thread should be closed simply for the fact that its caused a massive divide on this forum. Everything that could possibly have been said has been said. How soon into the next guys tenure is the same thread going to be opened, and round and round we all go again?
There's plenty of threads to cause division on here. There was one massive WUM fest started after the Leipzig game which is far worse than anything in here.

I see no issue with this thread being open. It's obviously a very fair question and worth discussion. It doesn't have to cause division as there's plenty of reasonable folk willing to have a sensible debate.

You shouldn't be worried about sacking managers and going "round and round". That's the way it works, usually.

Agreed. WUM fests everywhere, but they are all stemming from this thread which made everybody take a side and then defend it to the death. It doesn't, or didn't, have to cause division but it obviously does because of peoples obsession with being right on an Internet forum.

The players were moved around all over the place today.

Matic started off as DM, then CB and moved back to DM again.
TFM moved from RB to CB, and McT from CM to RB.
Even Maguire was playing upfront towards the end.

I would gather most sensible fans would have hoped he would do wonders with us and be a success here. I think there's this odd conspiracy theory that some 'wanted him to fail'. I can't fathom this line of thought. With Mourinho? Sure, plenty despised the man well before he walked through the door and couldn't overcome their bias. But Ole is a club legend and there's zero reason why any United fan would have wanted him to fail.

It was more that, over time people started asking questions - rightfully so - about whether he is a good enough manager. The problems started when his stauch fans started taking offence to questions being asked of him. Then posters from both 'sides' started petty bickering and shouting as loud as possible, to try comfort themselves in thinking that they're 'right'. It's individuals as opposed to opinions which started the divide. This thread is warranted and the discussion has been warranted for most of his tenure. Unfortunately, a-few decided to turn this thread into a petty battlefield. The nonsense from here has seeped into other threads; look at the childish nonsense in the Naglelsmann thread after last week's win or the infamous whoop whoop thread. Like seriously...

So while I see nothing wrong whatsoever with the premise of this thread, I agree that it's become a mess but that's due to a small minority. It's only going to get worse as this feels like Jose's final months all over again, without the toxicity.

Today was the final straw for me.

For the start of last season you could make the excuse that
- Injuries to Pogba, Rashford and Martial screwed us.
- The squad wasn't good enough and needed more depth and quality.

However since then we've had a fully fit squad - and have added Bruno, VDB, Cavani and Telles. There's no excuses anymore, this team should be performing much better than they are. And it's the same old problems, we only ever look like a team when the opposition leaves themselves wide open on the counter attack. Any other scenario we look Sunday league standard.

I actually like quite a few things Ole has done, his squad building has been much better than Van Gaal and Mourinho, he sets us up quite well in certain big games whereby we're allowed to play on the counter, and I get the feeling the players like his man management more than they did Moyes/Van Gaal/Mourinho.

However I don't think the coaching is anywhere near good enough. We don't press well, we can't pass, there's no cohesion or understanding between the players in attack, there doesn't seem to be any plan as to how we can score a goal when the opposition has men behind the ball.

We may get a good result at some point and we'll be fooled into thinking we're finding form but deep down we know it will be another false dawn. It's always 1 step forward 2 steps back. 2 years in and we can't press, can't pass and can't create chances against a low block, I just can't see us going anywhere.

Expected it to be more in all honesty. A-lot have been on the verge of wanting him gone for a while now, and I thought the last two games would be the tipping point for plenty.
I‘d guess Ole ‘keep‘ is being propped up by many of Ole‘s Norwegian Instagram fans, as well as Caf opposition fans.

I would say it's more to do with people not being arsed changing their vote, have been banned, don't log in regularly etc. I haven't actually changed my vote as of yet, I'll wait until after the Everton game. But I know full well he's not the man to take us forward.

Sack him after Everton. International break and a home game against West Brom may give us something of a reset, hopefully.

You'd hear murmurs of a sack before Everton if guess. I think even if he loses it would be too sudden for a sack.

Of course, there'll be the ones that'll back him until the very end too. Jose had the same level of fanatical support from a small group. I do very much doubt the poll is representative of the true feelings on here though. If it was reset and started again, I think it would only swing one way.

Depends on how the next guy does. If he is as useless as Ole, pretty soon I guess.
I for one can't wait that we hire Poch. In these 2 years i learned so much about excuses. Man, whatever happens i will just throw excuses. Just for fun. Needs time, not his squad, means well, we are getting there, needs Sancho, can't win without defender...., i can't wait. And threads...i will make a thread after every win. Whooop whoop we beat WBA. Masterclass by Poch.
I will be top of the top reds. And repeat "support your manager"

Nope
Has there been any reputable chat over the last few days of a sacking?
Not really I don't think so.

If you remember with Jose sky thought he might get sacked prematurely, but there was smoke because he ended up getting the sack slightly later down the line.

Aye, I think Sky were a good bit out with that call.

I just think there's zero talk of a sacking at the moment so even with a defeat at Everton, I can't see it happening. We'll know more in the next two days, I suppose.

There was a-lot of smug wumming involved in most of it.
Go to page 530-535 by the end of last season if you want to see smugness. Once he made top 4 the usual feckwits went on a massive bender calling everyone fckers and asking for mass bans for every "idiot" who voted against him or doubted him. Surpassed Jose cultists on that one and they can look forward to massive point scoring if this thing doesn't pan out.

For the first time since he took over am I heading towards the Ole out-boat. If we lose against Everton, we need to change things around.

I thought i would never say this sentence but today is the day "I would rather have Moyes as our coach than Solskjaer":wenger:

But at end of the day we can't blame Solskjaer because his level isn't the Premier League and Champions League.

Can’t believe we are still 60:40 in favour of keeping Ole. We’ve surely all seen enough at this stage? How much more punishment do you want?

I refuse to believe that's representative at all. Where are these 60% these days? Even when we win there's only a select few that get overly excited, the rest of us know the next bad result is just around the corner.

He's been woefully screwed in the summer transfer market this year and told to get on with it after not getting any of his targets and being given signing of fringe players and players he obviously didn't want.

BUT I can't see him being manager when we return from the international break.
His transfer targets were a £100mil Sancho, an £80mil Grealish & one of Europe’s most highly rated CBs, Upamecano at £50mil+.

This isn’t Football Manager, cut your cloth accordingly; he got an £80mil CB & a £50mil FB a year ago that we’d struggle to sell to break even so this summer was always going to be restrictive.

We’ve lost 3 & drawn 1 at home in the league; he shouldn’t have needed a single signing to better this dross.

Keep him and back him. dont think theres another manager out there to have the balls to gut that dressing room. I think Ole is now finding out some home truths about the likes of Pogba and these characters. if we get rid of him now all these frauds are back to square 1 with a clean slate.this makes my blood boil more than any result over the past week. i dont think Pochetino would be the ruthless type we need either, good at signing a bargain at Spurs but another case of when he lost the dressing room at Spurs he was dispatched of easily. He would be ideal for this lot as cannon fodder. Stick with Ole and lets hope he knows what needed by now in the quality and character department, surely hope he realises by now he is going nowhere with our current starting wing backs for starters

I hope Pochettino is being talked to as we speak. This was a mistake right from the permanent contract. That PSG game was a curse in disguise.

Last few days have been terrible. Following on from the lack of summer activity which has killed us. The next few weeks will be make or break for Ole.

I don't think his rotation is good enough either. With such a congested fixture list and a big squad, he should be rotating more. I didn't expect Rashford or Fernandes to start today. I know they were rested against Leipzig but I would've kept them fresh. Same with Maguire/AWB/Shaw.

No matter the results vs Everton he should be sacked, infact he should have been sacked monthas ago but lets nto get into that. It sounds bad to say this but a win vs everton will do us more harm then good, season si still long and we get a proper coach during the break we can still easily make it to top 4 this year.

There’s an excellent article in The Athletic recently by Oliver Kay, he pointed out that since he was appointed on a permanent basis, he has won 22 out of 52 matches in the PL. Really not good!

Don't forget the cultists call to have the list of people who voted "out" pinned to the site for "shaming" purposes.
