Happy for him he'll be a brilliant player, but at the same time I don't think he was suited to the prem. Can see him going to a big team in Spain long term.

Pisses me off to see him doing well on loan as a contract player for another club and not United. Pisses me off that Lingard was getting more minutes than him.

Before the haters come in and say that Gomes did nothing with the chances he was given, Lingard did even lesser with way more playing time. Lingard is 27 and he is unlikely to improve anymore, whereas at least for Gomes, he is likely to improve and become a far better player than Lingard. Well, he already is a better player than Lingard.

Pisses me off that we bought DVdB and not play him. If we had kept Angel, we could’ve put the DVdB money to a defensive midfielder instead. Or a CB.

That said, I’m glad he’s doing well. I was desperate for him to make it at United, more so than Greenwood/Rashford. Have always had a soft spot for Angel and followed him the closest amongst our youth, and shall continue to follow his career closely.

Regardless of how well he does it was laughable so many wrote him off based on 10 minute sporadic cameos

Wish him nothing but the best. Hopes he fulfills his potential. People who were bashing him for choosing to leave us have to be ashamed though.

He's still pretty raw but the talent is there. Very impressive first half but looked completely done physically after that

Just saw the highlights and he is looking pretty good. We probably should have kept him but oh well we are covered at AM as it is. He will move to a bigger club over time no doubt. Plenty of clubs in England that could use him.

I really hope he ends up coming back here. I think his lack of playing time is one of Ole's biggest mistakes as our manager.

I don't think he particularly needs to be an AM. He, unlike say Januzaj or Shoretire or Rashford, is an attacking midfielder who can make the transition to a deeper role. He has great midfield instincts and traits that could allow him to make that transition. Hypothetically of course.

He was never given a chance hear in truth. Any game he did play was with the deadwood and he didn't luck any worse than any of them.

In truth he was punished for not being willing to sign a contract. We might regret it we might not.

Mad to think how little chances he got at the expense of Lingard and Andreas. I'll never fully understand what Ole was thinking.
Wouldn't sign the contract so didn't get the game time. He left his previous contract to the very last second too so I wonder sometimes was their something going on behind the scenes between him and the club.

It's a shame he was not willing to go on loan last season. A loan like this last year was what was needed. Always rated him more than Chong.

I do believe he was let go too soon but my god that defending is lower than amateur level.

It's great he's doing well. I was so disappointed it did not work out for him here. Those who knew about him from the youths had been looking forward to him breaking through for years. Hence I can understand where @Pogue Mahone is coming from.

I'd love he does really well elsewhere as he is one who I think would come back if we we wanted him. I was kind of surprised we managed to re-sign Pogba.

Funnily enough the ’Scottish Messi’ is having a great game for the opposition. Looks like he’s had good start to the season too. The Portuguese league is proving to be a good hunting ground for British techno-midgets.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

He wanted to go out on loan in both the previous two seasons and the club didn't let him. 18/19 because we apparently wanted him to stay for squad depth (and then never used him), and then 19/20 probably because he didn't sign a new contract (but he didn't sign a new contract because he wanted to play first team football).

Been quite impressed with him this season. Last week vs Benfica he was brilliant and I would not be surprised if Porto picks him up.

Sporting are stacked with talent in the midfield so I doubt they would go for him and he does not seem to be the type of player JJ likes but he seems like a Porto signing through and through.

He was probably thinking he needed an upgrade on all 3 of them. Hence none of them get any United game time now.

His parent club is Rennes so they might want him to play in France next season.

No chance Porto go for him if Conceição stays tbh. I doubt he'll ever play for one of the big three, same for Marcus Edwards.

We told him he couldn’t go on loan without signing a contract.

Felt like the only manager who would have trusted him was Van Gaal.

A goal and an assist vs Benfica is very impressive. Hope he keeps this up, it seems like a perfect loan for him.

I don't see that as terrible defending. Not brilliant either as they would have stopped them if brilliant. It's hard to stop Gomes when he's given that kind of runway as his close control, low center of gravity, and feet will most likely get him a foul. Completely different dribbling situation to others where he's not good at (from a stand still, or when on the wing).

Don't forget Lille also don't think he's good enough for them yet, hence the loan.

Another way to put that though is that he was given chances, did absolutely nothing to stand our or impress whilst simultaneously refusing to sign a contract.

That’s how I saw it at least and I was a big fan of his in the youth teams.

I still hope he does well, just don’t think we can bash the club too much on this one over letting him go.
