Wow, 5 players? They were tested probably just few days ago considering PL players are tested regulary, which means they all probably brought it individiually from their homes.
Probably an outbreak within the team given Walker and Jesus. Takes a while for tests to pick up when someone is infected.

And all that because Kyle Walker had a sex party with some random chicks.

They won't get any special treatment, if they can field a team the game will go ahead.
What if the rest of the team got infected too (I guess these results came from yesterday's testing) meanwhile which could then cause an outbreak at Everton? Sounds a bit risky to me.

Wonder if our cup semi will go ahead
Most likely will. NFL is a good example of how they dealt with the occasional postponement and when they had enough consecutive days of no new positives, they had enough confidence of the spread being contained and the remaining players being what is available to use.

This is bollocks. It shouldnt be postponement, use your youth players, your squad,.if you can't field, 3 points to Everton

There's still about a week left before the cup semi final. Pretty sure most of their players would become ok by then.

They have enough to field 2 teams. Unless you can't get 11 out there, there's no reason to cancel the game

Is it though? The schedule this season is already jam packed and there is very little room for manoeuvre.

The NFL doesn't have to deal with multiple cup competitions and European football.

Hmm so it's actually beneficial for a team to have multiple positive tests than one or two to key players. Plus allowing the game to be replayed when fans are allowed back in.

Not sure how I feel about this from a competition point of view.

All they will do is close the training ground then test them all again in a few days.

Don't the affected players have to undergo a 14-day isolation period before they're allowed to be in contact with the squad again?

I wonder, when will ManCity play all those games? They already are one game behind and with domestic cup games, Champions League and internationals it will be realy thight to put them in somewhere. It could end up with 3 games in 5 days further ahead.

Considering things are as bad (worse but for the vaccine) as they were in March, it’s only a matter of time before the season is suspended.
Nah I don't think so. It was all new in March and nobody knew anything about anything. Time was needed to get things in place to deal with it and restart the season with covid around. They have measures now to deal with outbreaks and reduce risk of spread during training and matches. Plus vaccines around is a big positive. Don't think suspending the season temporarily will do anything.

So City already had Jesus and Walker along with two staff members test positive before Newcastle. Is this 5 more new case? Would Newcastle also likely have to postpone matches as a precaution?

I'm sure clubs 1st teams are bubbles, I think it may be a part of why certain U23's haven't been present in some of our own squads.

City have more than enough squad players. If they don't want to play, should be 3 points to Everton.

And matches aren't responsible for spreading COVID. Players don't get it because of contact with opposition on the pitch. They get it because they're irresponsible in their life outside football.

This season it should have been, if you can’t field a match day squad the opposing team get the 3 points, might not be the fairest thing but the fixture schedule is too tight to be squeezing in rearranged games.

Leicester should have rested players against us and actually tried to win this game instead. Idiots.
