    Hmm how so?
Maguire over covering the LB slot and Bailly not then squeezing the space or noticing Lookman standing 5 yards in front of him and allowing him to run through the gap

Maguire went to cover LB for no reason, Bailly didn’t push across and should have tracked lookman instead played a risky offside. Poor from both of them.

Fred was looking for it was never enough contact from the defender if that had been given against us United fans would be raging
Mate, i can only feel sorry for your analysis. This is a stone wall penalty

Amazing we haven’t grasped that if we press teams hard, they make mistakes.
We can't because some of our players only "half"-press, like Rashford, Martial, Greenwood.

It doesn't work if by their 4th pass our presser (Martial, Raahford, Greenwood) is half arsing it and gently closing the 4th guy down.

No mention of the potential penalty on Fred. If that was a potential decision the other way, it would have been shown 10 times, and there would be articles about it tomorrow.

Appalling from AWB. His positioning has never been great, but sometimes he has shocking games where he looks lost. He did the same against Leipzig and it seems to happen after he plays a few games in quick succession. Not the kind of defender you expect in a title winning team.

We still should be ahead, I have no idea how Maguire keeps heading balls away from the goal every corner. Good work by Cavani and Bruno for the goal. The 'wingers' have been anonymous. If we go into another season without an actual RW, I'll pull my hair out. Still, we enough out there in to win in the second half.

    Lastly, the refs are shit.

God, I wish I was as optimistic as you. The forward players all look impotent. We scored from a gift from their goalie.
    Beer helps.

They're tough team to beat right now, it's no surprise we're struggling. I fancy us to nick it though.

    Was actually really good analysis.

Maguire got dragged out of position by a player Shaw was marking and Bailly didn’t track the run at all.

Looks more like Baillys fault to be honest with you.
Yep I was raging at AWB for the goal but it's actually on Bailly

    Although Maguire's positioning was odd

Any chance of tomorrow's lotto numbers?

Good analysis there from Rio for the Fulham goal. Maguire & Bailly just as hugely culpable as AWB for that goal. Bailly in particular for not seeing Lookmans run when it’s right in front of him.

The United sympathetic pundits like Rio should make a bigger deal of such moments.

For all of that dominance, have we even looked like creating anything? We've launched a few crosses in that Martial got his head on and Maguire's missed an open header from a corner. Has Areola had to make a save?

I'd expect us to test their keeper if we're to be expected to score two goals in the second half.
I don't know what we're expected to do to be honest. But I expect us to continue this pressure - and we're pressing high up for once (with Bailly as insurance policy) - and they'll eventually cave. I would quite like to see Ole reacting fairly soon if Martial fails to make any meaningful contribution, or if AWB continues to struggle, we've got Rashford and - if we need - Tuanzebe for AWB.

    And who tracks back?
Sure it was Hansen who said if your CBs need two DMs then why are they in your side.

With adequate pressure from the front causing hoof clearances, and with Pogba and Bruno making effort to support Fred against counters there is no reason we cannot get the lead and then change tack again.

Pogba and Mata will sit and create for Cavani Greenwood, they wont have that far too track back on a turn over.

People act like 5 players at the back isn't enough

He's been one of my favourite players for the last 5 years but I can't take Martial jogging around anymore.

No urgency in that half from Martial, Greenwood or Shaw.

For 3 players that are fighting for their positions/shirts that's pathetic when you're playing to go top of the league.
Why are you lumping Shaw’s name into it? Hasn’t really done anything wrong.

We desparately need a right winger.
That right winger will have a terrible time being double-marked, since the opponents can just forget about AWB as a potential threat. He doesn't overlap at all, which is essential for putting a good winger in 1v1 positions rather than 1v2.

Disagree with Rio personally. The Fulham goal would’ve been avoided had AWB simply stepped up like a normal defender.

Not a great first half but we should have enough to get the job done in the second, Pogba needs to tighten up his passing.

Bad goal to give away to start the game. The pundits are ranking the fault as Bailly, Pogba then Maguire, but not one of them mentioned AWB. He's the one who kept Lookman onside. Nothing worse than a FB on the opposite side of the field playing as the deepest player. You should never be further back than your deepest centre half in situations like that.

We turned up the heat a bit after we got back into it. If Martial and Greenwood kick into gear we'll run out comfortable winners, but as it is we're asking Shaw, Pogba, Bruno and Cavani to do all the work.

AWB has been very poor defensively, it's a massive concern to see him all at sea positionally and being targeted by many of our opponents. Offensively he's taken on his man and put a few decent balls in but he must improve.

Greenwood is not a right winger in this sysyem, he needs to be further forward to influence the game. Awb behind him is atrocious.

To get the best out of greenwood he has to be further forward.

    Fecking joke? Really?
well according to the manchester evening news which could always be bollocks...The Uruguayan tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month but the MEN understands United are prepared to loan Pellistri this month once he has made a full recovery.

I don't remember the entire sequence of events, but there was obviously a big hole in Maguire's position. Why had he gone walkabout?
Maguire wants to defend for others at the same time as himself. He just needs to trust his team mates and stop over covering

I don’t like the AWB-Greenwood combo when we play this system.
What irks me most is how Greenwood times his runs badly. If they time their runs better, and provide better overlaps we'll create more space.
Greenwood is either too late with his runs, or is caught too narrow. This pitch is narrow and they need to make regular runs to keep our attacks alive. We're also using the left side more than the right, so it's easy to see why Greenwood is drifting in a bit.
We need to attack the space (on the right hand side).
