I feel like all the whiners on the matchday thread need some banning from the Caf if we pull off a result today.

We've basically been playing the exact same way for the past two years against City and doing a good job at it and yet people complain non stop.
We've butchered chances to extend the lead by mis-placing passes though.

You are allowed complain when so many passes are going astray.

I would love to see us shithouse a 1-0 win here but it’s going to be very difficult if this one way traffic continues in the 2nd half, they’re going to create some good chances at some point. Fred can’t retain possession to save himself, must have gave the ball away at least 10 times in the 1st half, we must keep the ball better if we want to come away with a win.

United are 1-0 up and people are complaining that United aren’t playing as if they are 2-0 down.

25 mins we were high defensively, then Sterling has come in a bit, that has dropped the CBs, it's just something we have to adapt to, let's see what they do in 2nd, were not changing the way we've set up.

Yet we have two that can't. These players aren't making simple passes right in front of them, its not like they're trying difficult passes that might fail, they are messing up basic passes. That has nothing to do with tactics.
But having options does. Honestly, they have nobody to pass to. This has happened quite a lot due to the enormous gaps between the players. There is actually no route out quite a lot of times.

I love scotty's passion, but I think he needs to spend a few weeks living with keano!

Started well, then restarted our tendancy to rush it again. Keep our composure when we get the ball, and we've got a good chance of winning this.

Still having people in this fanbase who think this about Bruno is amazing. God bless you.
There is nothing remotely outstanding about his game and for a 10 his passing ability is abysmal. penaltys aside he was gash again. At some stage you have to conclude he is a basic player that takes good set pieces and penalties to help cover for his lack of creativity

When you're realistic, the limited abilities of Fred and McTominay their inability to pass the ball, we're doing very well. We simply need some big upgrades to truly improve consistently.

How is Dean Henderson playing? I forgot we are still unbeaten away. If we beat City, oh wow.
All the saves he’s had to make have been relatively routine.

But he dealt with them well and has looked sharp and confident in general.

I hope he stays as no.1 when Dadid comes back.

Shaw has been excellent again and our best player, I hope he is not injured.

What worries me is how often they find space in between our CB's and FB's. Shaw and AWB need to tuck in slightly for the second half as City will, eventually, take advantage of that.

Beyond that I'm fairly happy with that showing. I'd imagine Ole won't too displeased either.
Yeah, they haven't so far which is surprising. There's definitely space there but not being manipulated by City so much. Doubt that continues.

Yeah good first half but this is a great team we're playing against, I fear they turn it on and nick 2 or 3 goals next half but fingers crossed.

75% of most teams would never start for City. PSG, Bayern who else could claim to have a team as strong as them?
Exactly why I said we are doing well.
Also exactly the reason we will not win a title whilst they are this good and we are not individually.

There was a pass McTom produced in the 1st half down the centre for Bruno who was about 15 yards up the pitch. The pass was easily cut out and City attacked once again. You'd think McTom would play it short to Fred but then Fred was behind the Scot who was practically in a back 5. This is going to hurt us if we persist with this set-up.

Give him a few weeks rest so he can actually contribute to the team again. He hasn't been carrying the team for a few weeks now, and is actually proving to be a detrimental recently.
Every player goes through a rough patch in a season but class is permanent.

Hopefully our own young lad comes on and finds his shooting boots. But yeah Foden is excellent, one of the best talents in the World for me. I even made a post about him being a future best player in the World contender. Although if Mason gets his shit together he can too for me.
Shame about Greenwood this season, seems to have stagnated a bit. I back him to return for sure, this happens with young players and will probably happen with Foden as well.

    He is.

But he's a concern on corners. Consistently leaves his line only to backtrack because he can't get near the ball.
I remember that, my first thought was how De Gea would've been slated for not coming out and catching it like Superman.

This is nonsense. They are messing up passes right in front of them. Simple passes that help us retain possession. This isn't about having options and them being creative, its about completing simple passes to slow the game down and keep the ball.

Just don't understand how we are a football team that cannot handle a press like so many top teams and it's not just under Ole, it's been for years, even under Sir Alex against the better teams we were not good.

We need to do at least a modicum better or they are just going to wear us down and get at least one if not two this second 45.

    Getting battered?

It's the perfect away performance so far. We've had a few decent breaks and shots,. so it's not like we've smashed and grabbed either.

Yes, I agree with you. I'm saying a lot of people seem to be saying the opposite, like City are playing us off the park. I don't think they are.

Need to make sure that we threaten in behind a bit more - first 15 minutes we were excellent, but after that we were camped at the edge of our box just trying to repel attacks - I don't think we'll survive another 45 minute onslaught - we've got to get out.

Last 10 minutes you can sit in and defend with your lives, but you don't really want to be doing it with an entire half of football still to play.

Do you agree to be banned if the reverse happens? Can not be one way, can it? A City win and you are out, deal?

One thing Solskjaer to develop. He is to nice sometimes and he should call out the refs whatever the cost (ban). To many times We have been on the wrong end of some wierd calls.
I agree. That penalty call against Chelsea seems to have pushed Ole over the edge. Been a bit aggressive from that game.

I love both him and Fred, in our squad. They would both benefit from having someone next to them that is assured on the ball so that they can play a very simple game of laying it off to the better player.
