Too many draws for us and an amazing form from Manchester City are the reason we're not fighting for the first place anymore. Pay attention to the number of games of every team, though, as it's not that obvious.

Liverpool's position is even worse than I thought. It's strange that Klopp has still not been sacked given this record and this position.

By the way, Liverpool are the only team in the league not to win at home in 2021 and they only scored one goal in seven home games.

Chelsea should drop off as the new manager effect settles down and Moyes will be getting nosebleeds soon at West Ham. It leaves us and Leicester fighting for second.

With the number of games they're playing I can't see City maintaining that level until May but they are probably too far ahead now.

Been a while since I've seen one of these alternate tables that didn't paint us in a good light but then we know our forms gone to shit so far this year

Also, look how entertaining our away games are - eight goals in eight games.

Why would Liverpool sack Klopp? He has won them the champions league and league in the previous two seasons. If they continue this form for next season, then I could see the reasoning behind it. It would be madness to sack him right now.

Because some people have a fetish for managers getting sacked

It's encouraging that this is what our 'woeful' run of form looks like.

Were you against sacking Moyes? Why wasn't he given the chance to check his form in another season, there could have been the reasoning behind it. I know he hadn't won us Champions League and Premier League, but he was new and we all thought he did a decent job at Everton.

For me, sometimes a manager must be sacked so the club does not waste more time. Sometimes it affects the team, the whole club, too much and Liverpool has been like that for months. I'm pretty sure that majority of Scousers would like him getting sacked and he probably thinks so as well, especially when the Germans are in need of a national team manager.

Why are you comparing Moyes to Klopp?

What am I reading? Moyes deserved sacking because he didn't have a clue and had won nothing. Klopp in the previous two seasons has got Liverpool to two 90 plus points finishes, won the league and champions league. I haven't seen any scousers on here or even RAWK wanting him sacked. The only people who want him gone are Mancs because he's a fantastic manager.

It all went to pot the second we went first, really. Wonder if it's simply a mental thing that our players couldn't cope with.

Absolute madness comparing Moyes and Klopp. Apples and Oranges!

Klopp is a Merseyside hero, no way the fans would want him out now after he just won them their first premier league title and made them into the best team in the world for a season. That would be disgraceful. Injuries have played a large part too.

No coincidence that their form dropped when VVD was injured. Maybe they are over reliant on a few players, but how do you think this form table would look if Bruno had been out since November?

You know the players at Liverpool still believe in Klopp, and he is a proven manager with an attractive and effective style of play. Their confidence is low right now and I don't think there are many managers who could turn this downward spiral around quickly.

Away games, we played against Liverpool, Arsenal, ManCity, Chelsea and conceded 0 goals. Thats a very good record.

We conceded vs Fulham and West Brom.

Don't think so. More to do with the accumulation of games and injuries to the likes of Pogba/Cavani. We haven't had a single midweek off all season. Add to that the rotten luck with cup draws which has meant we've been forced to field stronger teams in those competitions. The Sheffield result was down to forced rotation because we had played Liverpool in the cup three days earlier (while the likes of City, Chelsea, Spurs were playing cannon fodder lower league teams and resting their main players). We win that Sheffield game with our regular team.

Sometimes this place is hilarious.

Comparing Klopp to Moyes

It’s not entirely gone to shit - ultimately we’ve lost one match (hilariously against Sheffield United). However, I think the table does show that the problem currently is with our misfiring attack. 14 goals in 12 games excluding the Southampton match. We’ve just not been clinical at all.

24 points from 13 is an OK return for a team looking to secure top 4. Aside from the Soton game, we've only managed 14 goals from the other 12 games which tells you where the issue is.

And we're still 4th in that table. Our bottom level improved markedly. To do so in a Covid season with literally zero breaks and no preseason and arguably not had any improvements to the First XI

Now give Ole the players he actually wants and needs and see where he ends up.

Since we lost to Arsenal on November on November 1st our league form is W15, D8, L1. Not too shabby.

How have West Ham played 5 league games less than City in the same period?

You expect 1 or 2 games difference between clubs at most.

1. City had a game in hand from the opening week.
2. They had another game in hand from one of the festive fixtures that was covid postponed.
3. They've played their GW29 fixture already because of FA cup commitments (West Ham haven't).
4. They've played their GW33 fixture already because of Carabao final (West Ham haven't).
5. That screenshot is from before West Ham's game last night (which also means United's latest 3 points aren't added to the table).

City have been outstanding, but it would be interesting to see if they'd have hit this form without not having to play games over Christmas re Covid whilst their nearest rivals were waring themselves out.

The state of this post

Strange how exactly? Are football memories that short? All it takes is 2.5 months of shocking form in order for 3 seasons of world class football that brought about a CL, PL, 2x 90+ points seasons to be wiped from memory? He's earnt the right to try to fix it in the summer. If he tries and they still struggle badly then mid next year you can make the argument. Right now it would be madness. Hence why only mancs want him gone not the actual people that matter.

Interesting that we in 14 games this year have 27 points (counting yesterday). And in the 15 games before new year have 30 points. Without looking at it before I did have the feeling we were doing a lott worse now then before.
Lets hope we sort out the Milan and Leicester games, get everyone back from injuries after the national break, and really get things going again.
