Pathetic performance, management, coaching, tactics, subs - the usual. The level of football is extremely worrying, I am waiting for the bubble to burst. Nevertheless, 2 away goals, more than half way into the semis, you cannot complain about the result. Annoyingly, Matic comes on before DVB, James plays 90, I know he scored but I dont think Rashford needed to play, Amad cannot even get a game, Bruno has been awful for a while (but somehow scores or assists, I cannot complain), bad game from Pogba. My eyes are dry from watching that football, not sure if i can take watching more of this, I think I may switch and just watch the highlights of our 1-0 wins. Ole is clearly steeling wins to grab himself a new contract. Slow, laboured, no pressure, awful passing football. The bubble will burst soon.

We just look a little bit listless, which with the quantity of games is not surprising. The energy around the pitch, the sharpness of passing isn't quite there.

However, we did keep them pretty quiet and ultimately scored a couple of goals. A comfortable night against a weak side at this level.

It doesn't say much for the Spanish league at present, as I don't think we would have got away with such a comfortable outing against the PL equivalent - I.e. a mid table side. Both Granada and Sociedad have looked very short of pace, power and quality in the final third.

Did you not see the state of his face? And watch the Granada player, he LOOKS for Bruno, then deliberately smacks him in the head?

The state of our support.
Mate. I don't want to sound like an internet hard man, because I will shout from the roof that I am an oversized baby, but calling that a smack is generous. If it is a smack, its the softest smack I have ever seen!

It looks like to me that he put his arm out for a lad he is picking up to defend when the cross comes in, just like every defender does in that situation. But because it grazed his face Bruno went down screaming like he had just eaten a punch by Rocky.

And of course he looked for Bruno! He was looking to see what players to mark for the cross! If you see a lad looking at Bruno so that he can line up a deliberate right cross... then maybe my stream is bad.

Someone in match thread said it's crazy going from watching PSG-Bayern yesterday to watching this and honestly, thinking more about that makes me depressed. Great result but there's barely any joy coming from our general play at the moment it's mental when you watch other big teams in CL.
I was thinking the same thing. But, there are mitigants.

PSG - Bayern was two teams going at it and it made for good viewing. Quality players getting the chance to express themselves.

Europa League games are more often scraps against second ring teams. They foul, scrap and don't let your players get on the ball. The number of fouls that Granada got away with was pathetic.

This same group looked much better than this in the group stages of the CL.

What's important is that we win this tournament now to establish that we are on an upward trajectory. In the summer, our credentials to challenge next season will be established with transfers and our targets need to know that we have a squad which can actually win things.

Re penalty decision, the ref, in an earlier phase of play, had booked Matić for the same type of offence, so at least, in this respect, he was consistent in calling it.

You could see the bruise immediately though? You couldn't tell from the bad angles but it seemed more than a graze.

Not the best performance but 2 away goals, clean sheet. Puts us in a good position for the 2nd leg. Ironically the suspensions could be a blessing as those players slates will be wiped clean of yellow cards.

That's what it looked like on the replay to me. It's why the referee gave it and why VAR didn't overturn it. He does hit him quickly which is probably why he does it - reckons he'll get away with it. I think he hits him with his left hand though from the angle I've got but I've not seen an AA

Pathetic game. Granada is playing so dirty. The referee should have all of them booked for kicking us nonstop.
So disappointed to play such an opponent.

Ref had a part to play in the match. Kept giving fouls against us when they would be diving and feigning injury. Then they were kicking the shit out of us.

Karma in the end for the penalty. Bruno did what they were doing all match.

Spanish teams are just notorius for going down when barely touched. Was it Vidal sent off against Real a few seasons ago. Barca always doing it as well.

Probably one of worst ref performances I have seen in a long while. 3 to 4 soft yellows and then a questionable penalty in our favour. I suppose its job done but it leaves a sour taste since we were poor and they were horrid

My favourite typo of the season so far. Imagining a very grumpy Jamaican sucking his teeth at the McTominay booking.

Jaysus mate, maybe you should take a break and just watch the highlights.

You're aware we're coming to the end of one of the most grueling schedules these lads have ever been through?

It's over a year now with no real break, no crowds, no normal life. A bit of perspective wouldn't go astray ffs

I get the frustration and annoyance at them but we have no room to throw stones in this case. That's an embarrassing dive from Bruno, which is about as dirty as a team can play.
A dive? Bruno got a black eye from that challenge.

Couldn't watch it live, so I just finished the first half. Pretty awful game so just looked up the score. Great result, was the 2nd half as bad a watch?

That Rashford goal was outstanding.

Thought the right side of our team was pretty shoddy in that first half. AWB's passing putting his teammates in trouble so often (led to Pogba's yellow), Pogba dithering on the ball and losing it, James with no space on the right side is also never effective.

Rashford looked in discomfort from the first couple of minutes :(

Granada looked like an exotic blend of thuggery and playacting.

Job done, but it's hard to get excited with performances like that. James and Greenwood are not good enough and does nothing when they're on the ball. AWB and McT does a job, but are limited on the ball as well. That's nearly half the team, no wonder we look rubbish when trying to attack against a team that sit back. Fecking depressing seeing teams like Bayern Munich passing it around for fun all around the pitch compared to us.

I get you don’t like our performance, but when you have a team set up to frustrate, wail when touched, whine, etc. It’s Granada. They’ll do any thing to win. The gulf in quality was significant.

That match was enjoyable as a neutral, but both Chelsea and City will feel very confident about strangling the life out of any tie against them. United too I think would be very competitive against them now. All three of the English sides are superior defensively.

tumescent game and we look like we are running on fumes right now, but the 2-0 result should be job done.

It was a soft penalty i felt. A Ref with better control would not have given it. Neither would a Ref who was better had dished out five yellows to us.

I would imagine most of our players today have swelling feet, ankles, or legs leaving the pitch. Unbelievable.

Bad game, but sometimes we just have to acept what's possible. Granada, even losing, didn't risk anything to try to change the result. And they were sometimes too rough. So this was one of those games that what matters is to get the job done and move on.

Greenwood is not good enough? Strongly disagree! He didn't have the best match of his life tonight but come on friend, Mason is brilliant! Get on board!

2-0 win is a good result for us. Wasn't pretty but job done, only real negative is the suspensions, hopefully we can get away with it in the next game.

I suggest you not to watch the replay, first or second half, just worthless. Granada did man marking and pressed the whole game. The problem is they are so dirty and kicked every of our players with every chance, and the referee gave them a pass! Unbelievable. No one can survive that except scoring some goals against them. That is what we did from this pathetic game.
