Stuff like this absolutely undermines real racist abuse.

Oh wow, man I used to like this guy, heck of a player, but what a heel turn in 24 hours. Detestable to even try to turn this into a story.
To be fair, I don't think he (Son) has tried to turn this into a story. KBS News (rather than Son or Mourinho) are the ones to blame.

Son is pathetic all around. His post match reaction where he looked like he was about to cry now this. I hope in South Korea they realize the much less heralded but more decorated JS Park is a cult hero at United.

Did they think My son was parodying his name and Ole would starve him?

That's absolutely warranted, but as you said Ole said nothing worth investigating.
Yes, agreed. The people who do this on various social media platforms should be identified and banned from those platforms (as well as banned from ever setting foot in any football stadium).

What Ole said was a bit weird (Ole is a bit weird), but absolutely not racist or worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as actual, verifiable racist abuse directed at Son from morons on Twitter.

He didn't though did he? And I for one detest Mourinho's antics. This (racist allegations towards Ole) is all fabricated the South Korean media outlet themselves. It's on them and no one else
Aye. I'm not saying Jose accused Ole of making a racist comment. He made out Son was some precious victim after Ole rightly trashed him in the post match interview. But yes, the racism thing is a new layer added by the outlets.

Yet another instance of how an actually serious thing is being manipulated en masse.

Imagine how racist Ferguson was - he referred to all players as Son. Clearly indicating - they all look the same!

I'm so glad I don't feel the need to latch on so desperately to the success of one individual just because they happen to be from the same country as me.

You see it with Son but also Percy Tau, Ali Jahanbakhsh, Riyad Mahrez and others. There's always, always a section of their following that get insidiously more and more toxic over time and will say anything to justify why their compatriot isn't playing well/getting picked. It took Tau's fanboys less than a month to decide that Brighton's players were racist and that's why they didn't pass to him, for example.

Would be good to see Ole sue the Korean publication but I doubt he has the time or cares enough.

I might have missed something but how is this Son's fault? Did he say Solskjaer racially abused him?

If we're blaming anyone other than the media outlets misreporting the story, we should start with the United fans who racially abused Son as they're the reason we're being mentioned in that context at all.

Is this like when Cavani said Negrito and the UK translation for it didn’t really work?

Let's say Ole did starve his son for 2 weeks.. would people prefer Ole's son ate a dying dog to survive? Or a healthy pig?

We might need a seperate thread for this.

Story in norwegian media today - the first question OGS' real son (Noah) got when he showed up for training - "have you been given any food ?" :)

“If my son did that, I wouldn’t give him food.”

I challenge anyone to find racism in the above comment.
He clearly referenced those dog-eating comments by mentioning food, but decided not to specify the dish that he would deny Son in order to avoid direct accusations of racism. And it would’ve worked, if not for the perceptiveness of Kim Ki Beum.

Ole does need to work on some new analogies tbf. Didn’t he use the starving his kids line after Lamela acted the mickey in our last game against Spurs?
He's referred to his kids a couple times. Always as an anology that over how he'd be dissappointed if his kids were cheaters like Lamela and Son are.

I still don’t really get the ‘we’re not in medieval times’ one.

This is actually real? I thought this was a really bad taste attempt at a "Berbatov is beautiful with sly eyes like demon" style parody article at first.

I cannot read the original content, so don't know if that is an accurate translation, but if it is, that's pretty stupid. Maybe they don't understand what racism is...
Now if Ole had said, "of course he fell down, Koreans are weak"...ok that's racist.

They just lumped the manager with the fans. Because it creates a better headline. And the entire context of why Ole said what he said (the fact that son acted like he was hanging onto his life) wasn't reported. Just goes to show what spin doctors can do.

The media will take anything and run with it, so nothing surprises me on that side.

But Jose really is a grade A tosser, only he would make that comeback after Ole's comments. Getting beat 3-1 to United, let's make it about parents should always feed their kids...wtf!
