I don’t see it happening. Too many against the idea. I can see fans and maybe even players boycott the idea so it is dead in the water

If this goes through, at least there will be no chemistry problem in FIFA from next year  .

The irony.

Sky go to the usual adverts at half time. Talk about how the super league is a cash grab for for about 1 minute. Then go to adverts again.

Are we saying PL clubs will not play in EPL but only in Super league? In that case, its bad. But if we are talking about two competitions then I don't understand why people are complaining. If anyone is greed, it's the PL and Uefa because they are losing the monopoly.

Just saying on sky sports that as the premier league would not sanction it, the only option would be to leave the premier league to partake.

A revamped champions League is definitely needed and so I can see some merit to something like this . Obviously not as a completely separate league but some sort of a middle ground between the two . It's funny to see likes of UEFA and PL acting as some sort of moral stands against the clubs when in reality it's money Vs money . PL allowed this to happen by letting all these clubs to be sold to the current owners

I’d rather not personally. I hate the idea of it and it completely devalues the Premier League. I’m not surprised FSG have gone for it though.

Did someone mention us and Real Madrid are set to have the biggest share of the pie? Is anyone surprised the sleazy Glazers are backing this?
I don't think the other clubs sign up for it unless its an equal revenue sharing pie. Maybe United and Real come ahead because of merchandise revenue and such.

Hope they hire some incompetent officials, the refs ruin the spectacle in 90% of Premier League games.

Really hope this is just a (really bad) bargaining position to help get the clubs to the table to discuss the project big picture reforms from last year. A super league would need to be a break away, so say goodbye to FFP and then we’d never compete with the state backed teams anyway. It’ll become some tacky over-sponsored mess.

If you ever need an indication that we need rid of the Glazers, this is it.

Surely this is just a power play? The PL can block this and clubs will need their permission to compete in it. The clubs involved will never leave thier domestic league. Clubs want greater control over the distribution over their games, and ultimately a bigger cut.

Micah Richards talking about money ruining football with a straight face :lol::lol::lol:

This grave was dug in England when city circumvented ffp, bought the league. To turn around and say sporting merit is paramount sadly just doesn't ring true.

Being called bitter for saying City and Psg would ruin the sport was always a cheap lie. Any moral argument for sporting merit carries no wait now unfortunately

Nothing to do about winning the thing. It’s simply about money and greed from the hierarchy of these clubs that have signed up. That’s why they are doing it for.
I know that I'm just saying how pathetic are we that we are spearheading something we have no ability to compete in.

Like they wouldn’t be all over the bidding rights for it.

we both play in red and we both have greedy American owners. We aren’t that different when it comes down to it.

Give peas a chance.
I dont see the big outcry, however I haven't looked at the details at all if I'm honest.

If it ultimately provides more frequent, higher quality football matches and puts the best players against each other more often then as someone who loves football from a playing point of a view I can't really argue against it.

The financial impact on smaller clubs isn't nice but I'm here to watch good football, not support a team I have no affiliation with.

I'm very uneducated about it so maybe someone can inform me better.
All clubs big or small are part of the football ecosystem. You can’t trample over the ‘smaller’ clubs, their fans, traditions and history to service the greed of the few.
It’s an extremely selfish viewpoint of football in general.

Don’t know if I’m missing something. Roy Keane mentioned Bayern Munich have turned down this proposal. I thought clubs in Germany weren’t invited in the first place therefore how can you turn down a proposal when you haven’t even been asked?

I absolutely hate this idea but UEFA's 'fairness' statement is hilarious. How is letting the likes of PSG and City be owned by countries 'fair'. How is not letting Newcastle do the same then 'fair' either? At the end of the day if UEFA want this shit to stop then they need to create something that doesn't allow these 'nation' state clubs to cook their books and dominate football via money only. Go talk to the likes of Lyon and the rest of French clubs about fair play.

The fecking PL allowed us to be bought by a leveraged buyout that crippled our club and are now crying about what is fair. Give me a break.

This is simply an argument between two bunch of cnuts nothing more.

Edit: if they wanted fairness then they would bring in a wage and transfer cap full stop.

And UEFA did their part by an awfully FFP implementation. It was just a question of time over when the big clubs threw a stink.

Football really is broken. UEFA and FIFA can cry about greed but let’s not think either of those entities are much better. We’ve been heading towards this for a long time,.

Of course the yanks are at the centre of this, America hates genuine fair competition, everything has to be a monopoly when they get their mucky paws on it. I’m sick to my stomach that my club is not only part of it but a driving force behind it.
Since 2010 there has been 10 different winners of the Superbowl and 5 winners of the NBA Championships.

In that time there has been;

5 different PL winners.

2 different Serie A winners.

2 different Bundesliga winners.

4 Ligue 1 winners.

3 La Liga winners.

European football is far more status quo-y than Yanks sports.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Why the feck are people saying death knell of football? It’s been about money for decades. Who the feck made UEFA the moral guardians of football? They make billions themselves. The only reason them and FIFA are against it is because it threatens their power and position in the game - a position they’ve abused through incredible corruption for decades. I said once FFP collapsed there was going to be a huge power struggle - the same people that bang on about fairness and allowing City spend whatever they want when funded by an entire state seem to think big traditional clubs should share the TV money equally. That’s a contradiction. You either enforce FFP or you give the clubs who are the main reason for the billions being made the ability to make their own tv deals. I’d prefer the former personally but UEFA have shown they’re incapable of managing it.

I'm more intrigued than outraged to be honest. If I can see a game every weekend against the likes of Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern instead of another episode of constipation inducing football from Wolves, that would add a lot more to the entertainment value.
I completely disagree, I think it devalues those kinds of ties that are traditionally highlights of a season. It's not a highlight when it's on every week. Variety is very important to me, I like seeing us play a range of teams and the excitement of seeing who we might play in Europe. Those ties feel important precisely because it is the culmination of a seasons work.

Aside from destroying regional clubs and the communities associated with them I just don't think it sounds that appealing even if all that bad stuff could be overcome.
