What's a good club to follow?

If the next few months plays out a certain way, we could have a premier League minus most of the strongest teams (if they are banned as the fa suggested) with United playing mid week games, mostly dead rubbers. I could see fans leaving United behind in the above scenario, which I think is possible.

What would be a fun side to follow ? Personally I think I'd have to drop down and find a team that I ament familiar with... I used to live in Brentford for example, who seem like an interesting club

San Marino Calcio. The real club of my heart, never once tried to form a European Super League..

When I was a kid I once had a BVB football that I found on the beach one day, so maybe that was where my heart was meant to end up all along.

I'd say pick one based on some largely arbitrary personal connection.

For many on this forum the geography will likely make that Everton or Burnley, in the Premier League, and as obviously no one should support Everton, Burnley seems fine.

As others have said - local side if possible. Personally, if this does go ahead, I'll try and follow FC United a lot more closely and switch to other sports. I live in Melbourne these days so might finally get into AFL...

The German teams not participating in this abomination is further proof that German football is superior to all others. In solidarity with our footballing overlords I say fans of the twelve teams that have signed on for this abomination each pick a team in the German Regionalliga, with each of the three countries with ESL teams (England, Spain and Italy) choosing teams from separate regions. England would choose a team from Regionalliga Nord, Spain would choose from Regionalliga Südwest and Italy would choose from Regionalliga Bayern.

Added benefits of choosing German teams include the 50+1 rule that ensures supporter control of the team and the fact that Germany is situated in the middle of Europe, meaning it is a natural gathering point for all scorned fans. It also has excellent infrastructure, allowing for quick travel within the country. They also have large stadiums and excellent atmospheres at the grounds.

Plus, wouldn't it be nice if Europe invaded Germany for a change?
I wonder if that 50+1 rule is the reason why Bayern didn't join the super league.

Come join my hometown club of Silkeborg IF.
We can offer a roller coaster ride up and down between the top two danish leagues. Our stadium sausages are great and the beer is cheap.

We could also start the Vatican FC team.
I’ve heard they have great old boys and under 10s teams

Hmm FC United established in opposition to thw Glazers buying United, 100% fan owned. Built from the working class of Manchester, keeping the traditions of MUFC alive.

Salford City - owned by Singapore Billionaire Peter Lim, and members of the Class of 92 for a public face.

If you're walking away from MUFC over the greed and out of touch foreign owners it would be weird to go and support Salford City.

I will probably revert to Everton. Some of my family including grand parents were from that neck of the woods. Went to quite a few games at Goodison as it was so difficult to get a Utd ticket at times.

MK Don's. Founded in 2004 but that's 119 years in dog years to be fair.
you’re on to something here. i haven’t fact checked this, but the air bud films are the 6 highest grossing films of all time, even though they were only released for 15 minutes, one time.

with the necessary funding, i can see the mk dogs making the european super league redundant in less than a decade.

Altrincham the obvious answer for me, used to go sometimes in the 90s when United were away. Haven't been back since but still look out for how they're doing.

If I wanted something different or a bit higher I suppose I'd look at some of the EFL teams of the North West that I could get to easily using public transport. Thinking Blackpool at first but there's plenty. Trains and coaches to Blackpool all the time from Manchester and you can get there and back for £10-12, it's a place I've been to a lot, got rid of their horrible owners recently as far as I understand, bit of nice history behind the club.

Nottingham Forest, what with their two European Cups being double what Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Spurs have managed between them.
No chance. Their owner is a mafia guy. An example: a ship of his own was caught with tons of drugs, and steadily all the arrested personnel "accidentally" died in prisons. Even the prosecutor resigned and migrated. We may say our owners are greedy, but Marinakis is on another level.

Guys, it has to be Bradford City. As a bonus you can still hate Leeds.

Bayern is the obvious choice for me. Top club with principals. If they decide not to join this abomination of ESL, then I will change teams to Bayern.

100% done with United if this happens.

My daughters (7&8) train with the Fulham junior coaches. I might as well support them, at least it gives me something with me and my girls can enjoy together

I have a soft spot for Hertha Berlin. Short trip away from Copenhagen, lovely city for a weekend trip, good beer and cheap food.

The main reason for why I watch football is because of my connection with United. I love our history. I love that we have a great academy. I love that Fergie still goes to every home game. I love that a likeable club legend is in charge. I love seeing ex-players smile and cheer when we do well. Remove all this and you're pretty much removing my reason for watching football on a weekly basis. I see no point in supporting another club "full time".

If the ESL becomes as devastating as suggested, then I'll only watch the occasional game of club football on illegal streams. Perhaps the Bundesliga, as I used to watch that league some time back. Definitely not more than 1-2 games per month, though.

Guess I could go back to County for the first time since they used to give us free tickets at school in the 90s.

What about my local side Hammarby.

They never ever win anything but still have 30.000 in the stands.

If you want a bit of history, you can still choose somebody with more European titles than Spurs, such as Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, or X-Pac.

There's hardly money in Brazilian football and they play all the time.
Cheap to watch too. And at least for Flamengo most games are played in European-friendly times too.

Schalke is great. But for the moment you should better not care too much about results or performance in any way.

United till I die (under this set of conditions). Nice!
Sorry, but it's increasingly only Man Utd in name.

I'd probably start following FC United of Manchester. Owned by its fans and is democratically ran an' all that.

I agree with you. It's a shame that some fans are supporting this SL. It's not Manchester United anymore.
Could the city councils do anything for the clubs not being able to use the names of the cities if they want? I saw it in the news somewhere that they may have the power to do so.
