Absolutely loath the idea as mentioned in some of my prior posts.I'd be interested to see what Americans think of this.
I watch a lot of American sports so the concept of no promotion/relegation isn't really that alien to me and I love watching stuff like NFL, NHL and NBA. The constant repeat fixtures isn't really something that bothers me because I'm used to it from watching the various American leagues/sports.
Same feckers who often complain about participation trophies are the same ones who would argue our franchise leagues is better than the European leagues - while IMHO it equates to exactly that - giving out participation trophies. There are ballparks and arenas that are virtually empty when teams do shit because there is zero true commitment to the teams when they re not winning.
And when the owner gets tired of a market they just threaten to pack their bags and get nicely tax payer funded new facilities etc to either keep them or draw them to another location.
