Hell no. I'm not supporting a club that turns it's back on it's proud history and fans. The day this happens, is the day I walk. 25+ years for nothing. I will walk in a second as it will no longer be a 'club'.
If you stop supporting United, I'm sorry to say but you were really not a real fan to begin with.
So @Wilbursaurus isn't a real fan despite supporting for 25+ years?

I get you guys. I am angry on club too. But my answer is similiar as was in topic about gold diggers in football. How you can stop supporting club who you support whole life? In my case 30+ years. I can't say; "Ok, that is it. I don't care anymore". Just can't...

I can be less emotional (and i will because i hate friendly games) but still i will watch every game and support United. Even it is a league with only United and one club. :)
Easier for me, I’ve felt less of a draw since Lvg sent me to sleep. Ole is more my cup of tea but the actions of woody have been weasley and the glazers.. spit
I can almost handle them spending no money what I can’t handle is the way they’ve gone about this ESL.. it’s just stood out that they are looking for yet more money and fans are nothing to them

Is it really, though?

The league will revert back to pre '92 and we'll have top notch European football in the week.

I don't see it as any worse than we have now with how corrupt EUFA and FIFA are. Imo, Chelsea and the oil states started the downward spiral and nobody has done anything to stop it.
Yes, it is. The soul will be taken out of the club completely. The football won't be top notch. The travelling fans and local support get absolutely shafted.

You're fighting on behalf of a millionaire with no affinity for the club, getting their way against the wishes of everyone else involved.

It is significantly, significantly worse.

Is there nothing this club could theoretically do to deter you as a fan? What's your limit?

Whether you chose to support through them or not through this doesn't mean you're less of a fan, it's just that you've got a different standard in regards to what is acceptable or not.

I voted no, but have to stress that I wouldn't support anyone else. For 43 years United have been my team and my passion. I simply would be unable to support another team. My interest in football would probably evaporate.
Personally I don't think the ESL will happen thank goodness :)

More than 50% would stop supporting United?

Are these all oppos or is the usual mood in the United Forum correct and most of the people claiming to be United fans do actually hate the club?
"Support is defined as to provide comfort, encouragement or financial assistance to someone."

Why would you want to provide encouragement or financial assistance to such a soulless organization that has taken the name of Manchester United and irreversibly damaged the national game and stolen enjoyment/dreams from millions of opposition fans.

If you stop supporting United, I'm sorry to say but you were really not a real fan to begin with.
...and if your still supporting United after this, sorry to say but you were never really a football fan to begin with.

Gave my ST up about 5 years ago and never getting it back until these parasites are gone. They have had 16 years to pay off the debt and they haven't. They have backed managers to get into top 4 and then not backed them to push on for 1st place. Their motives are clear.

I will always support the club but will never give them another penny.

Support in what sense? Obviously I won't just stop caring about United - but will I care a little less? Probably... and I'll feel a bit dirty every time I turn on an ESL game, but I'll probably still watch us, whilst not caring for the competition.

I will definitely give up my season ticket though, and make a point of not putting any money into the club... so a better question would be, Will my support change? And the answer to that is yes.

Yeah this is probably more appropriate. This, and like a past love who becomes a casual fling cause you can't quite let go but isn't the same.

Yes. I'm not proud of it, I might boycott it. But I could't help it.

I think this is what a lot of people are struggling to differentiate; support or follow.

I'll still follow United, as in, take an interest in their results. Will I support them (buy tickets, buy tv subscriptions, buy replica kits and other merchandise) absolutely not.

It should be 95%. Only way to send a clear message. Do this and we'll be gone

One of my mates messaged me saying he'd stop supporting United if it goes through. I don't think I could but I won't be watching that dog shit, plastic competition nor will I be spending any more of my money on club merchandise etc.

I'd be done. I can't support the club taking part in this abomination and even if I did would quickly lose interest as it sounds totally shit in structure. There's absolutely nothing on the menu that interests me.

This kind of horseshit knowledge is why the super league stands a chance. Beyond baffling.

The super league kills to the core anything good about any club involved. It removes them as a club for fans 100% and then some.

I'm ashamed the club I support is a founding member. it's beyond a joke

No chance. Seeing the owners so brazenly sell out the local/national fans has sickened me to the core. As a football fan who enjoys the values of sport in general, It betray's everything.

After 19 years a Utd fan, as much as it kills me, I'd probably lose interest in football altogether. Let's be honest, the elite game's been rotten at the top for a long time now anyway.

I'm 100% hoping that, now that they've shown their true colours, the government can intervene along with the footballing bodies, in removing the parasitic billionaires from our game once and for all.

I don't support the idea of the SL but to turn your back on the team (the players have no control over the decision of the owner) then I can't consider that a real fan. That's just my opinion and I'd be interested to hear the rebuttal. The team needs support and they only play the teams infront of them.

Nothing to deter me as a fan. Unless they support genocide or back racism (which none of that will happen)

Unless you believe that United dies with the creation of this.
I think the end game of this league will be to make it the Champions League and just remove the UEFA execs out of the equation. Too much corruption by them has allowed them to suck clubs finances for far too long. feck UEFA.

Agreed. I'd follow via illegal streams, i'd doubt i'd miss a game of the Super League etc. but i'd never attend games, buy shirts or follow them on twitter. I'd be embarrassed to cheer United on in a pub.

So there are things they could do then that would deter you. By your own admission, you couldn't support a number of state-owned/sugar-daddy clubs who have all backed acts of violence, hate and racial discrimination against groups of people.

I’ve said yes in that I’ll watch them on telly. I’m sure I will. But no chance they get any financial support from me, and that includes paying for whatever broadcaster carries the games.

Isn't there an argument that if you do that, you're still supporting the owners, as the advertisers are paying for eyeballs regardless?

I feel like the United badge was slapped onto something that simply isn't it. How am I supposed to support that.. thing? I can associate myself zero with any of that. So the answer is: no, I can't. A club in itself is somewhat a bit abstract, just like a company, and as such I still support the history of United, its fans and the community.

(There's actually a chapter in "The Outer Limits of Reason" by Noson S. Yanofsky that deals with a similar problem: if you change a ship plank by plank, when is it still the same ship and when is it a different one? I feel like United are past that tipping point where it's simply not the same thing for me anymore and supporting it makes me a part of the problem.)

I cannot support a cowardly club who is unwilling to risk relegation. Man Utd are my second team but I can't stand the thought of an ESL. The whole thing looks like a bail out for Spanish and Italian teams who don't enjoy the spoils of tv mega-cash. I don't like Uefa, Fifa or the premier league either. There are already too many bodies involved in the game.
