Wonder if we can get Gill back temporarily while we sort out the mess.
Unless they re from or in Wisconsin yes.Basically anyone from this forum.
The idea Gill has a magic bullet is so amateurish I don't know where to begin criticizing it. Gill was successful because of who was in charge on the pitch. Period.Wonder if we can get Gill back temporarily while we sort out the mess.
Yeah but if you read the MEN report where it talks about the three main candidates for this job I don't like how it says that both Arnold & Baty had a good relationship with both Woodward & the Glazers. Think this pretty much confirms that it's going to be one of these two who end up getting appointedI will be very surprised if Arnold isn't announced as CEO in the coming weeks or months and I don't think it will be as bad as people fear. Whilst the restrictions that the Glazers place on the club are limiting and do hurt us a lot of what went wrong over the past eight years was just down to structural (within the club) and character flaws from both the CEO and managers appointed.
Now that we have some semblance of a structure at the club we should start making better decisions the market. Imagine we spent close £70m last summer on players that have had minimal impact on the squad and we are still 2nd, how would it have panned out if we had done differently like buy a RW and CB for example?
It's not like we need a revolution, outside of getting the Glazers out (which is still a long shot irregardless of the past 48hrs), we just need someone to come in and make common sense decisions, give the talented football heads we have within the building the room to do what they do best and make sure that we don't go broke.
Woodward was central to the Glazers financial plans and he had the connections in Wall Street, having worked there, but on the football side, especially early on, he enjoyed the transfer market too much and led us into costly blunders. I think his inner workings with the Glazers is what they will miss but on the football side the issues facing the new guy are simple to navigate.
What have you got against Gill? We need someone with finance expertise to replace Woodward, so accountants, bankers etc. are probably what we'll be getting and not footballers who know a bit of management like VDS or god forbid Neville. Running a global marketing machine is much harder than doing a job as CEO of Ajax. The idea Gill has a magic bullet is so amateurish I don't know where to begin criticizing it. Gill had a successful period but by the time he left, our academy and scouting system was in terrible state. Due to Sir Alex genuis, this factor is often overlooked. Pair Woodward with Sir Alex and you have the same on pitch results that Gill had. What have you got against Gill? By all accounts Gill leaving had a pretty huge impact on how things were run at United because we've made a bunch of management mistakes since then. Most of the job as CEO of such a big organization is making sure you have the right people in charge and listening to good advice and I think Gill would be able to figure that out.
So you're saying get Fergie in then ?The idea Gill has a magic bullet is so amateurish I don't know where to begin criticizing it. Gill was successful because of who was in charge on the pitch. Period.
It’d be nice to have him in charge, and it would certainly make sense in terms of fan appeasement, it won’t happen though. It’ll be someone from a business background who takes over, not football.
I thought he was on GMB on ITVIsn't Richard Arnold already in charge of our commercial department?
As I thought no real replacement for an actual football thinking person for CEO. Just like for like replacement most likely Arnold.https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...e-to-replace-ed-woodward-at-manchester-united
Glazers are understood to prefer an internal appointment as they’re less likely to stir up a hornets’ nest.
Don't know what to say about that choice of photo.. it's pretty funny, but is that an acceptable jounalistic standard?https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...e-to-replace-ed-woodward-at-manchester-united

Gill presided over the “no value in the market” era & oversaw Valencia & Owen replacing Ronaldo and Tevez. Fergie’s genius has conned people a bit when it comes to Gill. We actually spent much more under Woodward than him. He’s the last person I would want.Wonder if we can get Gill back temporarily while we sort out the mess.
Gi' it Kenyon till end o't season.Gill presided over the “no value in the market” era & oversaw Valencia & Owen replacing Ronaldo and Tevez. Fergie’s genius has conned people a bit when it comes to Gill. We actually spent much more under Woodward than him. He’s the last person I would want.
It's not that simple though. Feel like a broken clock having the same discussion over and over here but my thesis is:Gill presided over the “no value in the market” era & oversaw Valencia & Owen replacing Ronaldo and Tevez. Fergie’s genius has conned people a bit when it comes to Gill. We actually spent much more under Woodward than him. He’s the last person I would want.
Did they change it? I don’t really see what’s funnyDon't know what to say about that choice of photo.. it's pretty funny, but is that an acceptable jounalistic standard?
I mean Arnold has done really well running our commercial arm, he took over from Woodward for that position too. I'd say give him a shot before we judge. Talking about Judge, he's the guy we probably need to replace, his contract negotiations have left us unable to sell most of our deadwood.Surprise surprise it’s looking like this is going to be another internal promotion - reports that accountant Richard Arnold is being eased into Woody's chair.
As did Woody before him - that seems to be the training ground nowI mean Arnold has done really well running our commercial arm, he took over from Woodward for that position too. Or he was able to get us pretty good deals on Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo? Selling Dan James for £30m? Would we have paid 30million quid for a Daniel James?I mean Arnold has done really well running our commercial arm, he took over from Woodward for that position too. Because money making is the Glazer's priority. As did Woody before him - that seems to be the training ground now
I know that Richard Arnold has the face of a prickIt’s genuinely weird how some folk talk so confidently about these people as if they have the slightest clue as to what they do on a day-to-day basis.
I haven’t got a fecking scooby and neither do any of you.
Not surprising. I think everyone deep down knew when Woodward's departure was announced that Dick Arnold would be his replacement.Surprise surprise it’s looking like this is going to be another internal promotion - reports that accountant Richard Arnold is being eased into Woody's chair.
