Could you not at least spoiler this from that daft cnut. Everyone pissed already no need to see this rubbish..

Here’s the thing, our Owners are currently so hated, they either sell or they get serious and spend big in which case they will expect trophies.you May have a point.. but he’s not going anywhere next season, you know that, right?
So let’s hope he is backed and learns from it and next season we come out flying! It’s the only hope we have honestly...
I actually agree we have the better set of players but they looked in better shape with their smash and grab approach. I just think in a final anything can happen, so having a striker on the bench or starting conservatively gives a fallback.Nah we had the better team by a distance, we should have just moved the ball faster and took more risks with our passing. For the majority of the game we played into their tactics by playing it slowly around the midfield and defence. What we needed to do was get it in and around the box and have people driving into the box.
The only real change he could have made was Pogba on the left and leave Rashford on the bench. But Rashford's been in terrible form so not sure how much impact he could have had on the bench and that also would have meant playing Fred who isn't great against teams that sit deep as he end's up seeing a lot of the ball which is bad for us.I actually agree we have the better set of players but they looked in better shape with their smash and grab approach. Villareal should have been brushed aside, but our record against Spanish teams was always the fly in the ointment and tonight was no different. In games like these, major cup finals, you expect your so called "big players" to take centre stage, to show why we paid huge amounts of money for them or why we reward them with new contracts, but tonight too many of ours didnt... and not for the first time. Next season Im sure we'llbe better, stronger and more consistent, but everybody has to turn up and produce the goods. In OLE we trust.
It came down to a lottery. Shouldn’t have lost but that’s football, just as we shouldn’t have won in 1999.
Love the team, love the manager.
Let’s stop crying, recruit well and push on next season.
Yes Amad or James could have taken Rash place and not done any worse at the least.Point is, there’s quality there to make a difference. Rashford is our leading scorer but was so poor in just about every department. Only once trying to take in the defence. Whether Martial could do it is neither here or there, we never had the option. Maybe Amad should have been thrown in...
When we made one sub in the entire match that wasn’t geared towards a potential penalty shootout that’s fecking rich I have to sayAnd you sound like a WUM. They won the shootout lottery, which was the only way they were gonna win this match after parking the bus for most of it. No way did they deserve the win.
This match just highlighted the same core issue the past couple of seasons -- we lack squad depth. We can all yell out loud about Ole not making subs earlier. The only real change he could have made was Pogba on the left and leave Rashford on the bench. Yes, I think so too. I have been saying - we are better 11 vs 11, but not 17 vs 17 and today's game was more like 11 vs 17. Villareal had 17 players that they could trust. This match just highlighted the same core issue the past couple of seasons -- we lack squad depth. But who? Matic, Mata, Fred? Or we throw in the kids like Amad, Elanga?
We have not been able to rotate as much throughout the season simply because of injuries to key players -- Cavani was suspended and then injured, Martial has been out for the past two months. As a result, Rashford has had to play most games despite carrying on with injuries the past two seasons.
The only criticism I have about the match would have been if Ole had been gutsier and thrown in Hendo and taking out De Gea for the pen shootout. That may have thrown Villarreal off.
I would not totally disagree with the starting 11 because as you said Fred is terrible against certain type of teams, and James is not that great neither. Our starting lineup, and high pressing tactics, was OK, except players failed to show up. During 1st half only Cavani and Greenwood showed up, luckily the damage was small. During 2nd half majority of the team showed up, particularly Shaw and McTom. Having said that, Pogba and Bruno were only average, nowhere near their best form, and Rashford, was only at 30%.The only real change he could have made was Pogba on the left and leave Rashford on the bench. But Rashford's been in terrible form so not sure how much impact he could have had on the bench and that also would have meant playing Fred who isn't great against teams that sit deep as he end's up seeing a lot of the ball which is bad for us.
Even Rio's saying this:Yes, I think so too. I have been saying - we are better 11 vs 11, but not 17 vs 17 and today's game was more like 11 vs 17. Villareal had 17 players that they could trust.
It means something. There is a clear progression. Our core issue is squad depth. This is going to hurt all over again at the weekend when City win the Champions League.
This season promised so much at one point but it all fell completely to pieces. Feck 2nd, it means nothing.
I think even with City's squad Ole would have found a way to bottle this final.Do you think we need a 2nd team of Neymars, so he can win the CL B cup?
Maybe because the problem has existed the past several seasons? How do people watch this game against a team that finished 5th in their league that's weaker than the PL and come to the conclusion it's about the depth?
At the end of the day who really scares teams on the current squad. Maybe Harry McGuire, maybe a fully interested Pogba (but haven't seen it). Current squad has alot of good but not great players.Even Rio's saying this:
@8.00 onwards
This is a fact. AWB wasn't signed to create chances. What has hurt u now and in the past is us relying on creativity and flair from one on one situations from our wingers. It odes two things. First, it make Rashford/Martial to vital in our team and neither are or have ever been good enough to be relied on consistently. Marcus is an factor player imo, counting on him game to game like Bayern did with Robbery is not wise as he doesn't have the requisite creativity or flair to produce consistently. Secondly, It leaves our forwards too high up, which leads to a lack of support given to the midfield. When Pogba plays there it provides more balance. Signing Grealish or Sancho who support the midfield would help us in this regard.Watched the game in Spanish feed via Unimas (couldn't figure out the CBS app situation in time), and they had Hristo Stoichkov and Javier Zanetti providing analysis and co-commentary throughout the match. Slight pro-Villareal bias, but overall they called the game well. It's always amazing to hear distinguished ex-pros call the game out live.
Both Zanetti and Stoichkov singled out McTomminay and Cavani out as United's best performers on the night. Surprisingly, Zanetti was highly complimentary of AWB and both were complimentary of Shaw. They thought United's entire maneuver revolved around the fullbacks and they were praised for their offensive and defensive contributions. I have been highly critical of AWB in the past, but it's humbling to hear one of the all time greats say over and over that AWB had a really solid game. (Maybe we shouldn't expect so much from AWB when the rest of midfield and AM do zilch all game). Commenting on Villareal's goal both blamed United's defense for allowing Gerard to steer free, and not really De Gea. So Lindelof essentially.
Both were highly complimentary of Villareal's defensive organization, thought that if they could maintain "tranquilidad" they could emerge victorious.
Anyways, I think sometimes it's interesting to hear commentary in a different language, with a different bias - it makes you more open to see the match in a different way.
Wonder how the English commentary called it.
Overreaction FC. Come on - means nothing? Really? We were absolutely shite tonight and Ole got it wrong - no question, but 2nd is an excellent achievement. If you think we have a better squad than city and should have finished first then there's no discussion to be had, because that's just ridiculous. This is going to hurt all over again at the weekend when City win the Champions League.

If we're stuck with Europa League next season, surely it sucks. However, it's for next season. I don't see how the disapointment of losing a final would vanish this soon. Being in CL next season, doesn't guarantee a trophy. We just a lost a final, one game away from trophy. My disappointment has vanished very soon tbh. Only because we didn't depend on this for CL qualification.
Super weird reaction that comment just gave me. Villareal didn't deserve it, imo. They were set up to defend and we dominated the game. Having said that, we didn't deserve to win it either - we just didn't do enough, even though we were better than them for most of the game.Lacked creativity throughout. Villareal deserved it.
It bloody isn't and this mindset is just mediocrity being accepted because it's being presented by a club legend and nice guy.Overreaction FC. Come on - means nothing? Really? I'd like to know what were your expectations for the club at the start of the season? It bloody isn't and this mindset is just mediocrity being accepted because it's being presented by a club legend and nice guy.
2nd is nothing. Nobody remembers 2nd, there are no medals. It doesn't make players happy, it doesn't tempt players into signing. We don't have a squad like City's but do Lille have a squad like PSG's? We were top of the league and shit the bed against the worst teams in the league, Sheffield and West Brom, to throw away any possible challenge. We shit the bed in the FA Cup. We shit the bed last night.
We do not have a winner in charge. He will never win anything here and his shitty "achievements" need to stop being talked up.
2nd with a points tally that would normally be 3rd or 4th.. whoop de doo.Overreaction FC. Come on - means nothing? Really? so in conclusion, which team deserve to win if both didn't deserve it? A draw?Super weird reaction that comment just gave me. Villareal didn't deserve it, imo. So what are you saying? Sack Ole? Perfect. What about Klopp? Fire him too? The facts are clear - last year 3rd and semi final of EL. This year 2nd and Final of EL. Of course we want more than that - so does Ole, but he can't magic a better squad. I'd say that on paper City, Liverpool and Chelsea all have better squads than us, so 2nd is an excellent achievement - for now.2nd with a points tally that would normally be 3rd or 4th.. whoop de doo.
Treading water.
Crazy how polarizing Ole is. I disagree with all of this. Okay, so Lille won ligue 1. So what? When Leicester won the league did the so-called big 6 fire all their managers? There is no logic there. Do you think we should seriously be winning the league with this squad? I also think that Ole's biggest success at United has not necessarily been the performances in every game, but the cultural reset he has implemented at the club. He absolutely blew it tonight though - no question. A very frustrating evening. It bloody isn't and this mindset is just mediocrity being accepted because it's being presented by a club legend and nice guy.

I feel that many people are getting carried away because he finished 2nd this time. At the start of the season, I always thought that we are going to be 4th at best with no trophies and a R16 UCL to show for. Of course we should be beating Villareal like how how we beat Aston Villa, but then again this is a cup competition as even the bigger and better teams lose (Man City losing to 4th place Chelsea in FA Cup and may lose the UCL final, France losing to Portugal in Euro 2016, lucky Chelsea beating Bayern Munchen in UCL final). We're not going back to the SAF years. We have wasted too much time and money on chopping and changing while City, Liverpool and Chelsea have caught up. The other team does these worse than us is Arsenal. So what are you saying? Sack Ole? Perfect. What about Klopp? Fire him too? The facts are clear - last year 3rd and semi final of EL.
