That was really a bad game for him. How they were playing long balls by the end looked really bad.

I just can't wrap it up. This was so fecking underwhelming from their perspective. Mendy didn't even need to save a single shot from what I remember ?

Pep got completely outplayed by the masterclass Tuchel delivered.

I have no idea what he tried to do with that midfield tonight. Absolutely criminal. I looked at the teams at about 7.50 and was honestly shocked. I had no idea what Pep was doing.

For all the threads we’ve had on here about lack of subs, or taking Greenwood off, Pep absolutely fecked up far more than Ole did the other night.

Suicidal tactics. You don't break down a team defending deep by pouring forward and playing into their hands.

Why bump this thread? He’s obviously not getting sacked ffs.

Difficult not to think what could have been if he’d got it this badly wrong in the finals against us.

Excellent manager. But should employ someone else to pick his team in big games. Or, employ someone to slap him every time he tries something like this.
Omg I just said that to my mates. City should ban Pep from managing big games.

choosing Sterling, baffling.
gundogan as CDM instead of CM where he’s been amazing. Baffling
Playing foden CM when he’s been brilliant left wing. Baffling.

Fraudiola never surprises.

For all the very rightful praise of Tuchel, United would have wrecked this City set up as well...

And yeah, gives some perspective on Ole bottling the EL final tactically

He should have bench Busquets or Xavi when playing against us in final. It would have been a massive help.

Got it massively wrong tonight with the midfield. The ball for the winner went right through where a DM would be sitting. That said his attack being toothless isn't on him. Mahrez, KDB, Gundo and Stones who were great all season were piss poor tonight, harsh on Gundo because he was played outta position.

Think he got his subs wrong too, hooking Bernardo and not Sterling was a shocker.

And I thought Ole’s management of our final was awful. And it really was.
But Pep for all his experience at top level and in so many cup finals had a shocker today.
He finally found a formula in Europe which isn’t weak defensively. It worked for the entire season in England and in Europe.
Then in the most important game in City’s history he completely changes their approach.
He knew Chelsea are defensively very strong so thought he should just play without a DM and with so many attacking players. What an amateur mistake. And didn’t even change it when it was obvious that they were being overrun. Also why the hell did he start Sterling again all of a sudden?

I am extremely happy that he didn’t win his 3rd CL, that City didn’t win their 1st and that they didn’t win the big double. But I really didn’t expect him to make it that easy for Chelsea.

Seeing Sterling on the pitch was a big surprise for me. He has been shite the whole season.

Pep outhought by himself and Tuchel.
City, for all the near-chances, never really played to their best and Guardiola is at fault.
Baffling team baffling tactics.

He's won a few leagues but with all the money that they have spent, the CL is what they should be winning and he's failed yet again.

Questionable team selection. God knows why he started with Gundogan as the holding midfielder. Has he even done that before? Bottled it!

Three times now Tuchel has played the same style and he's failed to figure it out.

Dont care what anyone says. The squad they had plus 1 billion in on top, and no CL. Very ordinary.

The league is expectation when you spend as much as that.

Unlucky lads. Maybe Grealish and Haaland and Messi in the summer, so you can have Sterling and Mahrez off the bench.

You’re right. I was gobsmacked as well, he will never learn. Always tries to be clever.

Put Rodri in from the start and this could have been a different game.

I'm absolutely loving it but I bet most City fans had a sinking feeling when they saw the team.

Another CL failure without Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. You have to wonder how much of his achievements are down to just managing the best team of all time...

He bottled it. Once they were behind and KDB injured, it was done. But Chelsea cut them open time and time again in the first half until they scored. Only has himself to blame

All he had to do was put his usual team on the pitch. Also Sterling is never a Pep player. Let alone a captain. Maybe we (I) need a bit of perspective on Ole based on that.

He failed today, but I don't know why people continue to rewrite that Barcelona spell.

They were awful the prior season without him. He came in and binned Ronaldinho, Deco and tried to bin off Eto'o.

They became the best team of all time because of his management + those 3 at their peak. It's both.

I can't remember why I joined this war.

Rodri and Fernandinho to keep Havertz and Mount under control, let Walker bomb forward more often and I think this game takes a different course, but playing 6 attacking midfield players was suicide and if Werner could actually finish it's 3-0 at half-time for Chelsea.

True. You’d like to think that Ole isnt as arrogant as Pep too, so he might learn.

Classic Pep always trying to be profound and cleverer than everyone else.
Good to see it backfire.
