And also somehow released the ball in that tight space once he’d won. He’s been great tonight, the fact that posters think he hasn’t just shows what he’s up against.

Makes me laugh that people are calling to sign a Declan Rice off the back of this. Kante is spending a lot of the time higher up than Pogba leading the press. Allows Pogba and Rabiot to set, and it’s why Pogba isn’t being caught out of position like at United.
Agreed

Meh. They were offside and it wasn't borderline armpit decisions. Germany had the 1 chance with Gnabry that he should've scored. Been a tight game and probably a draw would be fair
A draw would be very fortunate for Germany. They haven't done enough when they were the team with the momentum and didn't take their chance.
France took theirs and were unlucky to not add it on it.

I think this has been a really good game and yet ITV commentators are slating it

Agreed. Germany should be angry with themselves as I feel they could have got something.

Never heard of Volland before, and I can see why given his cameo, he's done nothing but waste promising positions.

Germany badly lack creativity. Plus France, for all their flair, are one tough fecking nut to crack. Resolute.

France scored one and had two ruled out for offside. Pogba was the one who created every one of those chances. That’s not a small contribution against a big team. All he needed was Mbappe to hold his run better on two occasions and he’d be lauded by everyone for obvious reasons.
He's to blame for one being offside. Mbappe was the talent for the other disallowed goal, all him. The pass in the first half was good but the bloody OG was fortunate.

Germany have way too many similar players in attack and no focal point to play. France is scary good on the counter and will only get better as the tourney progresses.

I dont think France was unlucky, they didn't create any other chances other than Mbappe being offside twice? Rabiot post I guess. And it was an own goal that separated the 2. Was a very tight and even game IMO, could've gone either way, but definitely much better from Germany than I expected. They had their chances but didn't take them, which you need to against a team with Frances quality defensively and their set up.

Why is every white Brit commentator so negative towards Pogba? Constantly slating him despite him having a great game. Never mention anything good he does, but highlight every small little negative
Do you think there is a racist smear campaign against him? The same white commentators adore Kate, Mbappe, Varane etc...

Some seem to dislike but I'm sure the hair and persona is a massive part of that.

Great game. It was really intense, hard to believe it is just the opening game of the group stages for these two!

Germany played well I thought but France defended well.

I was surprised by Griezmann. He ran around like a madman and was pressing, tackling, and defending well from corners. Hadn’t noticed that aspect of his game.

France just looked really solid and not even playing at their best. I still fancy Germany to get to the knockout phase despite their problems.

High quality game that, finally.

Not sure about Germany's 3-4-3, they never really looked comfortable outside a 10 minute spell in the 2nd half.

France are France, quality all over the park. Will be tough to beat them in the knockouts.

Thoughts;

France obviously have plenty in the tank but wasn't as impressed with them as I thought I would be by full time. Looked solid at the back but conceded all the possession to Germany and seemed content to try and hit them on the break. Kind of expected a bit more control from them if I'm honest.

Germany; felt they were unfortunate not to get a point given the areas they found themselves in second half and on another day they get it back to 1-1 and we have a bit of pressure on the French and a game on our hands. Definitely lack creativity and that player with a bit of magic. Think they'd better suit a 4-3-3 with wide forwards.
