I don't think it's that simple. We need him now to complete the team to mount some serious challenge. If not having him leads to stink our season, he may rethink especially if Pep, Klopp, Tuchel want another CB for next season. Right now perhaps they mayneed to allocate money for other transfers. However being free agent next season, they may be back into the mix.
IMO just throw Dalot into the deal, even if loan with obligation to purchase, to help Madrid to balance their book, as a gesture of good will.
