We dodged a bullet to be honest, 100 mil for someone who has nothing to show for his career and we signed a lot younger player who’s won more for a lot cheaper. Don’t get me wrong he’ll be a great addition to city but is he better then what they’ve already got? I’m not sure. He’s there for the squad depth really, there team is unreal. If they don’t win the champions league this season then surely pep has to be sacked.

Will the media make a big deal about his contract, like they do with us?

In the end, I was not exactly sure how much Alexis’s weekly wage was. Everybody was saying a different number.

Hope he fails.

His hype started because Maddison's form fell off a cliff and people needed a new stick to Mount with.
He’s a superior player to both, the man has created more chances then anyone in the city squad and he plays for Aston Villa.

He is the most entertaining player in the league, at the end of this season his hype will no longer leave anyone bemused.

We are over that point already with his wages now being calculated based on all the supposed bonuses being paid and all.

Is it really different to the likes of Silva or Kante? Great players and excellent to watch too. Or KDB too, fanatastic player who I don't really dislike.

In fact I don't genuinely dislike many players currently at City. They're just part of that hollow farcade of a football club.
It's kind of fun to play 'who would be at which club' had City not pilfered all these players that would have been distributed among the normal landscape.

So Grealish is now both the most expensive player in English football history, and the highest paid one as well.

There's going to be a lot of pressure to live up to that price, but I can't see him flopping either because he is a great player. I just wonder how he'll adjust to playing in City's system because he's more of a ball carrier than the types of centre midfielders City usually use (who emphasize passing their way out of trouble and finding space).

I always thought that Sterling is a good player - yet got a slight bit overrated after becoming City's tap in merchant (I guess this was still a mix of Pep's good tactics and Sterling adapting/training well towards them).

However, It's why I'm worried about Grealish a bit because - for me his slight weaknesses are things like his consistency in number (which he wasn't ever going to get at Villa); which you wonder if will increase now he is playing in a possesion dominant team and good players.

On the opposite side, I also wonder if playing the slow tiki taka or 'pass and watch' type football will stop him properly adapting there and playing that fast dribbling take on type of football he played at Aston Villa that would get past alot of defensive set ups.

Jack is an overrated plastic player and it’s all about the Benjamin’s for him. He’s signed for the perfect plastic club and good luck to him. The Pursloe Villa video is almost gloating at the amount they’ve rinsed City for.

If he is the highest paid player in the history of English football, how much was Sanchez on then?

100 milion? Aston Villa should throw a massive party tonight. Good player but you can get 3-4 great players that will make your team better.

Villa, have done great business, £100 million, they can now spend that on at least 3 Top players or wisely more. Never worth that amount, and if the past is anything to go buy Villa players moving to city have been a disaster. Villa had to sell when the offer came in. Imo it's not the best move for him.

Should do alright, he'll be well rested as he won't be playing as much. Pep will have to reinvent him a bit, as I don't see the Villa Grealish really fitting in all that well.

the only thing that really upsets me is that we paid 11% of the 100 million pound fee
fecking hell, stop pretending. There are plenty of City fans here and no one gives a shit that they are city fans.

100m is genuinely an insane fee for him, think him not playing any substantial minutes for England at Euros really increased his hype.

Imagine he would play the same role as David Silva used to play for them. He would fit in perfectly with his impressive ball carrying progressive play under Pep system.

He’s an excellent player, there is no doubt about that. But having lost Aguero, are they really spending their money in the right position?

Sterling, Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Torres, Grealish, Foden can all play that position.

They basically have Gabriel Jesus up front who rarely scores.

100m would be too much for almost any player in this market. Personally I think Grealish worths around 70-80m at most.

He's always diving, City signed him just because he's the best cheater in the entire league.

If Pep can get Grealish and Foden playing in some sort of partnership - it's something I'd appreciate with my England fan glasses on.

Maybe you're right. I don't think he and Silva are exactly the same in terms of play style, but he's closer to Silva than any City player I can think of. And he's young and in his prime.

I guess we'll find out.

I do think he is impressive in carrying ball forward and making things happened, which would suit Pep system. But let’s see how he fit in.

It’s still sometimes hard to comprehend these sums of money.

Entire Championship Clubs, of which there are many decent sized Clubs in the Championship, are valued less than this one player.

I don't disagree. And Iniesta was valuable for Pep's Barcelona team for the same reason. Grealish and Foden are both better ball carriers than anyone City have had since prime Silva.

That won't last though. City spread the burden, Villa basically gave the ball to Grealish in every situation and hoped for the best. No way will he keep those numbers up at City.

Good move for Grealish and City.
Talented player playing best football of his career now coached by best coach in football.

I'm gutted he is not in a red shirt, I've said all along he has all the attributes and talent to be a legend at this club, but it wasn't to be.

He's obviously going to be great for them.

I assume he'll play deeper and progress into the box replacing Gundogan in the system a good deal of the time.

If the get Kane it's difficult to see them losing too many.

3 of the most creative players, one being the best striker in the league, possession ability for days and a working defence.

Find this quite a strange video for him to come out and state candidly the fee and release clause etc.

This is pure class from the Aston Villa board.

Jack Grealish was the leading star of a Aston Villa team that's on the rise. His sale is undoubtedly going to have an impact on the pitch.

For him to come out and candidly state the fee, why the fee is what it is, what the plan with the money is, and maybe more importantly: The emphasis he puts on Grealish' emotion on leaving the club and promises kept protects everyone. Grealish does not come out of it greedy or selfish, the club does not come out of it incompetent, rather honorable, and the transfers are put into a perspective.

Its really incredibly refreshing to see and I commend them for it

I just hope Jack doesn't get behind the wheel of a car following the celebration bender.

Yeh, will be interesting to see Grealish play no8 and how he does. Add Kane to that lineup and youve got your favourites for CL and PL for this season. They will be formidable.

I hope he doesn't fail dramatically at City because that would be the most awful thing ever.

Good luck Jack Grealish :)
