I seem to remember they had a fall out but why exactly was that? What was it over?

So I heard a random rumour. Christmas party, Wes Brown gets shit faced, on a table singing songs making fun of Fergie or chatting shit about him. Can’t remember. Fergie walks in and that’s the end of it. Wes is out the door.

I have a few connections with the club. As in friend of friends etc. Or at least ex players. So I’m inclined to believe this.

Brown was a great player but a difficult personality
He clashed with Fergie because he was shifted to the full back eventhough he was better at centre back
Tough personality? He still won plenty at club level

This stays on here...

True story: I once bumped into Wes Brown and Rooney, in Selfridges in town. They were buying women's handbags, presumably for their partners.

I think that may explain everything.

Remember hearing he jokingly called SAF a cnut on the team bus once. SAF didn't see the humor in it, and that was the end of Brown's playing days with us as a result.

I doubt there's anything much to this. He was 30+ when he left, which is completely normal for a squad player who had his fair share of injuries. We still had Rio and Vidic, plus Evans, Smalling and Jones breaking through, the Da Silvas for full back... It was time for Brown to go. Maybe there was an argument or fall out, but it wouldn't have changed his departure date...

Don't be modest. You were a great player for us.

Manchester United centre-back Wes Brown could leave the club at the end of the season following a fall-out with boss Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, according to the Daily Mail

Whilst the nature of the dispute is unknown, it is believed the 31-year-old is seeking a long-term contract, something which he believes he will be able to receive at a new club.

Brown has spent his entire career at Old Trafford, but may find himself out of Ferguson’s thinking as the Scotsman looks to rejuvenate his squad this summer
This is a strange one. Don't even remember these reports.

Another Wes story, I was once in Longlegs in town on a Tuesday night after a Champions league game. Wes was in there with a large group. Some poor lad he was with was being bullied into necking a bottle of red wine by Wes.

All you could hear was I bought it for you, neck it!

In the end a bouncer saved the lad and told Wes he would have to go if he didn't calm down. He was wasted!!

Speaking of Wes Brown, whenever I remember watching him play, he never once complained about any decision with or against him. NEVER.

I thought it was weird as hell. Not that it is a bad thing.

Fergie rated him very highly as much as Rio or even higher as far as I remember reading back then. But, injuries probably ruined his progress if he was actually that good.

This is third-hand information so take it with a pinch of salt but the way it was told to me was that Brown had gotten into the habit of turning up late to training. Not by much, but consistently 5 or so minutes late, and Ferguson was giving him a hard time about it. One day Ferguson was even later and Wes was waiting, started pelting Babybels at him. Fergie laughed it off at the time but that was the beginning of the end.

I saw Wes Brown in Tescos a few years ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the till was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I remember him playing RB in the 07/08 even In the CL final. Didn’t he get the assist ? Was very good in his day but even without injuries he would never reach Rio’s level

"When I left Man United that season, I just knew I wasn’t as good as I used to be; a couple of old injuries were starting to niggle away and I really felt like I’d dropped down a little bit – being at a club like United where you’re surrounded with top players, you just know."

Doesn't seem like a fall out to me. He was 30.

How good was he as a CB? I told my mate he was a very good CB, and he laughed it away. We started looking for YT videos for him, and found none. He took that as confirmation that he was shite.

He was very good. Injuries took a toll but a solid no nonsense physical CB with a cultured right foot and enough pace and energy to play right back.

Feet up at home.
I can remember Fergie calling him the most naturally gifted defender at the club but not what year it was.

Awesome. Loved Wes, so I may be biased. When he tackled you you knew you had been tackled...

Seem to recall he'd get a run of games, look pretty damn good, and then get hurt. And other times make a mistake or two, like the annual own goal.

Wes brown was one of the best defenders to have played for us. He's criminally underrated.
