Very worrying performance. Based on that we aint winning much this year.

We are not fired up and we dont have any patterns to our play. Relying on individual brilliance all the time.

You could argue we have the best players on paper in the PL, but we dont play like we have such a team.

Pretty terrible game. The lack of precision in our passing is quite odd. Didn’t lose a match we could very easily lost is the positive but the less said about Matic, Fred and AWB the better.

Matic and Fred absolutely woeful. 2 dropped points already. Disappointing.

Poor finish to the game. We started it well and olayedt alright until 60 minutes but we couldnt look arsed by the end. Hoping it is just down to a lack of fitness/sharpness.

Shite game. Don’t know how we can look so good last week and then produce this the following. Early days so I won’t be too harsh but we need to improve, you can’t have many days like that if you want to really challenge.

On Ole. Woeful decision for the starting lineup and decisions on changes too late. But then there is the malaise of ponderous play with a midfield that cannot control or pressure the ball as a top class side should. Our weakness is midfield undoubtedly but we strengthen elsewhere.

So many players just didn't turn up today. Sloppy. No change from last year unfortunately
Thats because we are playing the same dead players even though we made 2 World class signings. How are sancho and varane less fit than martial and martial just comes on because he looked sharp? Lingard looked sharp last season so why not play him more? Its illogical

Apart from Sancho, what was wrong with the lineup?

This looks like the players just performing well below standards.
It was pretty much the same as last year, that's the problem. That team wasn't good enough to realistically challenge for the title, and neither is this one.

Sancho and Varane coming in should change that somewhat, but we need more. Some of these guys aren't even good enough for the bench at City and Chelsea.

The midfield will get the pelters but if we are honest, could be a number of players today....

My big concern is that you can accept teams dropping points, but when the big boys drop points (City and Liverpool), it’s after a barrage of attacks and the other team are a little bit lucky to have taken the win.

It doesn’t feel like that today and the point was fair.

Ole has to take some blame for using Matic. He is simply not good enough. Martial as 9 was a bad choice as well.

Bruno, Matic, Martial, Maguire, Fred where all very poor today.

Pogba, Shaw, De Gea and Greenwood where our best players.

Seemed to lack fitness for the last 20 minutes which is a worry two weeks into the start of the season

We don't dominate teams like Chelsea, City and Liverpool from a couple of seasons ago, which is exactly why we wont win the league this season.

Midfield is nowhere good enough to be able to control, dictate play and create chances. So frustrating.

After that match I get why so many people hate us for flopping. Can’t begin to count how many times Bruno and Shaw threw themselves to the ground over nothing
They are weak players. But everyone was awful except Pogba and maybe Greenwood

I left the beach, got dressed at 3pm and drove to the next greek village with a proper pub just to get served this? After a full week of training and 200k+ paychecks? Not enough

Hang on, Lingard's record at United is terrible and he shouldn't come on because you want VDB on instead?

How do those things coexist in the same head?
Fred and Matic, particularly the latter, couldn’t handle the Southampton press. Our midfield had no control in this game. Don’t you think a midfield that control the tempo could create opportunities for our attackers? We had enough game changers out there, but with no control in midfield we had no chance. Lingard was a useless sub. Instead, VDB for Matic much earlier would have had a more significant impact. Our midfield was non-existent.

Fred, Matic, and Martial. All garbage footballers who I never want to see again and sadly I must. Born losers

Just arbitrarily stopped playing. Collective loss of focus and energy and out of nowhere against an awful side. Again…and again, and again.

Too many poor performances and bad passing. The subs of Sancho McTom and Lingard had no impact. Once Pogba went off the boil that was it. We always seem to need Bruno or Pogba, been like that for years.

Sancho has done feck all. Maybe it was better to prioritise a midfielder over him?
Not sure if this is a serious post but before you talk about a player who's hardly been here maybe you should start on fred or lindelof

Should have won despite our being below par.

Not a shock though - Southampton are good at chasing about and closing down and our CMs are not good under pressure.

Still think we were the better team and on another day, we win that game 9-0.

That last 17 min is one of the worst displays of how a team in ascendancy can utterly lose the plot and allow the opposition in through terrible passing.

Im sorry to labour the point, but this game just signifies how we just don't have the manager to make the difference when it matters...Still some fans will be rejoicing in the '27th unbeaten away' record!
