Haven't had so much fun watching United play since Ole's honeymoon period.

    Changes I'd love to see:

    McTominay -> Matic
Sancho -> VDB (and play Bruno LW and Rashford RW)
With all due respect, Sancho has been great. If Donny comes on (big if), it should be for Bruno

Very positive first half and looking forward to what Ralf can achieve with more than just 1 training session. We're playing much higher up on the pitch - Palace have barely had the ball in our half. We just need to create more clear-cut chances but the first 20-25 mins was just wave after wave of pressure from us and it almost felt inevitable we would score. Haven't seen that in a long long time.

Dominating the game, just not got the goals to show for it. Looked like a bit of fatigue setting in and a reverting to a slower pace. Telles really needs to use the space better.

I get the overall point but there seems to be a fairly important half time stat missing. The score.

It's going to need a few new players to consistenty break these teams down no matter the manager.
Nah, not really. Just need to be a bit sharper in the final third. We've the players to do it.

Encouraging, given that Rangnick hasn't been able to coach the players very much yet. Rangnick's trademark 4-2-2-2 very much on display, with the players very clear about their roles and what they're meant to do. For the most part we've strangled the game and not let Palace have many chances. Compare and contrast that with Watford...

I'm feeling positive. However, we have to win. We're not in a position where we can afford to drop points any longer.

More pleasing still is that, so far, we don't look like we're going to concede at any random moment.

Ralf spoke of controlling the game and we've largely done this in the first half.
Very true. The pressing with intent is nice to see. I do think our squad isn’t set up to play the type of football he’ll want and I’m sure he will be bringing some more aggressive players in asap but we are doing fine and we started brightly for once.

Really liked Sancho on the left, not sure why he switched with Bruno.

    Very good first half

Reminds me of that Fulham game under Moyes. Get it out wide and sling it into the box.

Just the 20 crosses so far, a bit of catching up to do yet.

Excellent half hour, bit of a drop off after that. Nice to see us behaving like the home team for a change. A bit of control is a good thing. I could get used to it.

McFred is not the midfield you want when you're this dominant in a game. Both below average passers. Bruno still looks off too. Apart from that very impressed with everyone else.

It was a good half but no big chances created. Getting 3 points would be massive, it's Rangnick's first game.

As would I but Pogba has been sent off for less, unfortunately, the precedence is set.
Fernandes put in a similar (ish... Probably worse actually) vs Liverpool and just got a booking, so swings and roundabouts I guess.

I don't think those challenges should be red...but yeah, we've got to the stage where and stud contact = red... Seems a bit daft to me

    That's the hope I guess.

TAA is similarly weak defensively, but he is so rarely exposed due to Liverpool's system, which is practically identical to the one we're seeing with United today.

    High hopes.
TAA was the reference case for me too. Similar thoughts

Agreed! Someone like a prime Carrick would be perfect.

I get what people say about midfielders but other midfielders on teams misplace bloody passes too.....
For me it's not that McFred misplace passes, it's that they are not incentive enough on their passes for the most part and the passes they misplace are easier stuff rather than adventurous passing. The standard you have to compare is Bernardo Silva, Thiago, Kroos etc.

    Yeah. That’s exactly what I said…
Well you did when you referred to the system the player was used in instead of talking about the player itself or his role within that system.

Likewise new player (or players) needed to consistently stop these teams scoring against us. But we’re only talking one or two players and that was equally true under Ole.
