Brentford Football Club (also known as simply Brentford and nicknamed The Bees) is a professional football club based in Brentford, Hounslow, London. The club was founded in October 1889, as the local sportsmen's latest attempt to form a permanent football or rugby club in the town. By 1896, Brentford had joined the London League, progressing to the Southern League in 1898 and entering the Football League in 1920. Upon the appointment of Harry Curtis as manager in 1926 came the beginning of Brentford's most successful period, with promotions in 1933 and 1935 taking the club into the top-flight of English football for the first time in its history.

Brentford had been rooted in the Third Division since 1978, but the appointment of Steve Perryman as manager in 1987 gave the club new impetus and under his successor Phil Holder, the club finally returned to the second-tier in 1992 after a 38-year wait. Relegation came at the first time of asking and aside from three seasons in the fourth-tier (winning two championships), Brentford remained in the third-tier until 2014, when after five failed playoff campaigns in the preceding 19 years, the club was automatically promoted back to the second-tier. After two failed playoff campaigns in six Championship seasons, Brentford were promoted into the Premier League after victory in the 2021 Championship play-off Final.

Brentford's main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers. Brentford's rivalry with Queens Park Rangers intensified in 1967, when Rangers failed in an attempted takeover of the Bees, a move which, had it succeeded, would have seen Rangers move into Griffin Park and Brentford quit the Football League. As with the Fulham rivalry, this fixture sees passions run high amongst both sets of supporters with local pride at stake. The club plays its home games at the Brentford Community Stadium (which replaced Griffin Park in 2020).

All well and good beating Palace and Norwich but Brentford away is a proper banana skin. This is Ralf's first real test.

Hope we can get Varane and Cavani back soon. We will need them in this xmas run in. Going for a 2-1 win to United. Brentford have certainly been making their mark this season.

Genuinely a bit worried about this one. Hope there's a bit of rotation.

This could be brutal. They’re a good team and they will absolutely rocking for this game. They’ll have had this fixture in mind when chasing promotion. Not optimistic.

Hopefully both Varane & Cavani can at least be on the bench.

Would like a change or 2 for this game with one of them definitely being Greenwood in for Rashford.

Greenwood for Rashford and I’d be tempted with DVB for Bruno and keep the rest the same. Hopefully Lindelof will be fit cause Bailly was back to his old self.

least I want to see is more energy and pressing.

Brentford have been surprisingly good. We won't get away with a performance like today against them.

We'll get battered if we play like we have done in the last 2 games

Can we please bench Bruno and Rashford? They are fecking shocking.

We need to play better because unlike Norwich they have players to take these chances

Greenwood and VdB instead of Rashford and Bruno please. The rest of the first XI should stay the same.

I’m glad Toney is still likely out. I think the only changes might be Greenwood for Sancho and possibly VDB for Bruno.

You might think Rashford is playing shit, but find me someone else in our squad willing to keep the opposition backline honest and stretch the game. Hopefully Cavani can play a role, as we need another option to inject some energy up there.

Think Edi is a possibility but suspect we won't see Rapha until maybe Newcastle

If we play as poorly as today we could well lose. Brentford have the tools to punish us. My gut feeling is it'll be a draw.

We need to drastically improve, Brentford is no power house but the winner of the "Most Likely Team to be Relegated" award just outplayed us.

Greenwood / Shaw should start for Ronaldo / Telles. Would love to see Cavani on the bench.

Also I think it will be better for the team if Bruno and Sancho switch positions. Game gets stretched to the left a lot so it will allow Bruno to come inside and play through the middle.

We are dropping points there. Unfortunately, I doubt we will get more than a point.

Brentford are a handful, with or without Ivan Toney. We got to be a lot better than today.

Suppose much depends on who is fit again. If Varane and Cavani are fit to play, then we should prevail. If we play like we did today, we will lose and the gloom mongers will be all over it.

Irritating going there for an evening kick-off given the atmosphere they’ve produced so far this season - a 3pm kick-off would’ve been easier just for that reason.

Big improvement in performance needed either-way.

100% improvement needed for a result.

I’m still so angry at todays game, I wish I still drank to take the edge off

I was watching this Brentford team for the first time yesterday against Watford.
I thought they are a good passing team but they've looked like Stoke 2.0.
    Is this their regular game?

    Exactly this.

    But he’s hardly doing that..

Brentford are a decent side, we'll need to be much better than we were today, I'd like to see a couple of changes with Mason and VDB coming in.

Do you guys think he will pick the same eleven or will he shake things up a bit?
