That's a lot of 'if's' and they've shown time and again a complete failure at making the right deals. Haaland is a solid talent, but like any striker he will depend and live or die by his midfield and surrounding players, if Barcelona sell all these players and don't have the proper replacement, even if by some miracle they did get Haaland (and I honestly hope they will, rather than him and Mbappe joining forces in Madrid if those are the choices), they wouldn't really compete with Haaland. They're 7th right now without letting go of a big chunk of their team as you're suggesting, in what world do they make top 4 and manage to dump some truly difficult to dump players? De Jong and Dest are maybe their two best assets on the transfer markets, and they have so many areas to work on. Haaland is someone you get as the tip of your spear, not some jacked up golf club you attach that spear tip to with some crappy duct tape and hope you can hunt for first place.
Those who handle the signings are now others, including Mateu Alemany, great director of football and great negotiator, usually gets good deals. Bartomeu is no longer playing football manager in real life.

Barcelona's big goal is not to get money from transfers, but to lower the wage bill by getting rid of high salaries of substitute players.
Barcelona have already done a great job this summer but there are still things to do.

Sure enough, for De Jong and Dest you could get good money, for Depay too.
Nor should we forget the €40M of Griezzman and maybe €29M per Trincao.

As you well say, Barcelona has other areas to work on.
We are talking about Mazraoui and Azpilicueta for free, Gaya €15M...

Haaland could sign for Barcelona? Yes but with a series of conditions that do not occur right now, in summer it can be.

Didn’t Barca just sort out some massive loan which allowed them to sign Torres from City and have money in the summer too now ? Between Messi and Griezmann leaving they’re saving £2 million A WEEK in wages and restructured big earning players wages too so they’re clearly much better off than they were a few months back.

From what I’ve always read Laporta and Raiola get on as well as Raiola does with any club and what I’ve learnt over the years that you can never count against the Spanish clubs finding money some how and some way, I wouldn’t back against Barca signing Haaland as a counter to Real signing Mbappe and Barca ending up with a Torres/Haaland/Fasu frontline next season and to be honest I’d rather Haaland go to Spain than City.

Can City or Munich just announce him already.
It will be Madrid, if Perez can get Riola and Halland's dad to reduce their commissions. It's down to Haaland from a sporting perspective where he wants to go. Personally rather it was Madrid than City.

Haaland himself may have to reduce his wage demands too. The reported figures was on the level of Messi and Griezmann in the summer.

Mbappe is done deal. Only reason he hasnt signed a pre contract is because qatar could make his life very difficult for the next 6 months and with Madrid meeting PSG in next stage of CL that would further annoy his silly bosses

Perez is going for both, that's probably why Pogba's dream move wont happen as madrid are keeping all the funds for Mbappe and Haaland.

I don't think Mbappe's a done deal. It's definitely far more likely to happen than for him to go elsewhere or stay at PSG but until the player signs, nothing is a done deal, and Madrid won't be the only ones trying to do everything to sign him. I'm fairly sure City will break the bank for him as Pep's wanted him for a long time now.

Yes but Mbappe is pretty much on record saying he dreams of Real Madrid.

It won't be Barcelona. They'll never be able to afford him.

It's just posturing. They're a bunch of posers who have to maintain an illusion.

No, he's not on record saying anything like that as far as I know. He said he wanted a move this summer so PSG could get paid, that he was a little disappointed to not go then but he's already over it now and happy to stay at PSG another season, and that things are different now and nothing is decided. It's pretty typical talk for a player going out of contract, but he hasn't reinforced the Real Madrid move since it broke down, and I think he can still get tempted by a Premier league club and playing in England. His English is as good as his Spanish too.

The entire football world knows hes joining Madrid this summer. He's being respectful to his club and the idioic owners who turned down €200mil for him last summer.

There is no other club he will go to other than Madrid. ESPN interview last week asked him if he will be playing for Madrid next September and he didnt answer the question just avoided answering it. Deal is done.

Who offered 200M for him last summer?

Haaland would be silly to go to Madrid given the age of that squad
? Carvajal, Alaba and Casemiro turn 30 this summer, Mendy is 26, Militao is 23, Camavinga is 19, Valverde 23, Vinicius 21, Kroos is 31 and still one of the best around, Benzema is 34 but playing the best football of his career, and we might replace him anyways if we get Haaland as well

This isn't a side in need of a big rebuild...

Exactly, if they also pick up Rudiger and Pogba on free transfers that's a helluva summer for madrid.

Are you his father or Kylian yourself? No? Okay then.

I said it's the most likely destination, but it's far from a done deal until the player actually signs and there will be other suitors who offer as good, if not better terms. I'm also very curious to see if Madrid's plans to get Haaland as well is going to be a benefit or a disadvantage in getting Mbappe. They may not want to play together.

 Wish I was, I'd be so rich.

Plenty of journalists have said Madrid deal is done. Lad has no interest in going elsewhere.

As for Haaland potentially not wanting to play with Mbappe, I dont disagree. Some players want the team built around them and personally i think Haaland wont want to share the goals with anyone.

If I were him, which I am, I'd rather live on a secluded mushroom farm in North Wales.
The pleasure I'd take in dropping fireworks upon rural halfwits, from my low flying helicopter, on my commute to training each day, would be a reward no contract could ever hope to top.

If reports are true, Madrid has completely backed away from the idea of bringing in Pogba next summer on a free.

you have 4 or 5 guys under the age of 30 in that squad and the rest will be 30 or above. To say you don't need a rebuild is a bit underwhelming when half your squad or more will be within one or two years of being past their prime.

City are still clear favourites to sign Haaland, as indeed they have been for ages. Top manager, top players, and no doubt will offer top money.

Reckon Chelsea are the only other possibility …but realistically think he’ll sign for City.

Lots of top players are available for free transfer this summer and Real Madrid is a big draw to the top players. Real Madrid still needs to pay huge signing fee to the players though. The weather in madrid is icing on the cake.

Surely playing next to one of his favourite player will interest him the most. Ronaldo - Haaland :nervous:

Nice thought but Haaland is all about scoring goals. Top goal scorers are usually selfish feckers ….don’t see him wanting to share top spot with Ronaldo.

Yeah, but you know how journalists just live in their own echo-chamber and don't really come out of this with any kind of actual reporting. They're just repeating what they've heard. I don't think it's a done deal and that he will have a lot to think about. I definitely think he's leaving PSG for sure, but I can see a PL side like City or Liverpool giving him a lot to think about.

And I really hope they don't play together, it would be a shame to see them share the spoils instead of competing against one another for them.

The current state of the club is painful, but there is one good thing to come out of it. Any source that parrots that Haaland is considering United is not to be trusted.

This is going to sound like a complete guess -

But if he does sign for a Spanish club next then I'm pretty sure he will sign for us afterwards.

I don't see why he would skip City or Liverpool or Chelsea for the La Liga in this state unless maybe he is waiting for us to improve first.

More like a fevered dream than a guess.

He had no connection to Utd, his father played for the club’s 2 biggest rival and has a grudge against one of its most famous player, why should he skip on 2 top teams just so he can play for Utd some day?

Believe it or not, even with the current state of La Liga, Real Madrid is still the biggest club in the world, they pay top wage and can easily compete for the CL the very next year. No brained move really.

There is next to no chance he is coming to United. Make your peace with it lads.

It'll be City or one of the Spanish clubs.

I mean that's fine & that's your opinion.

All I say is that I don't see why if his dad played for our biggest rivals - why would he not move to such a strong club in their prime where he can go help them win a CL?

Why wouldn't he want to play under Pep? Why would he want to play for City in the future when we have no idea who their manager might be?

Instead he wants to go to Real Madrid under a manager like Ancelotti who was an Everton coach in the PL - wants to share the limelight with Mbappe, wants to play with ageing players like kroos and modric etc.

Madrid maybe the biggest club in the world but they are not playing or looking like a CL finalist these days; whilst Liverpool, Chelsea and City are.

I don't need to even start with Barcelona.

Sure he always wanted to go to La Liga as he has said - but again I don't see why he wouldn't do this after moving to City when they are in a sort of prime and needing a striker. Not sharing the limelight with Mbappe at Madrid and then moving to the PL after.

The only reason I see him doing this is because he is excited about demolishing a league that is in a slightly weak state compared to going to PL when it's the toughest state.

Ronaldo left United when the league was dominating the CL in similar fashion and moved to a Madrid that failed to progress past the CL 1/16 for 6 years.

Players give much less of a shit about the fabled competition of the PL than most of this league’s followers seem to think. As long as they get top dosh and a decent chance to compete for the CL, that’s all they need to know, otherwise you wouldn’t see players moving to PSG.

Madrid made the CL semi last season, there’s no reason to believe that they can’t compete with a few top signings, Haaland himself included.

Madrid's actually looking quite good, bar their recent game. They've barely lost a game this season. The only issue in the Madrid's dream of getting Haaland and Mbappe is Vinicius and Benzema. Mbappe won't play on the right wing, so that's 4 starting-quality players for 3 spots and Benzema isn't looking like he's slowing down.

I think Madrid, always have really. Mbappe possibly for free and Haaland as the galacticos. Although I think Mbappe may yet stay, which would be the wrong choice IMO. If Madrid start winking at you, then they more often than not get their man

Barca seem to be definitely going in for him, too. Laporta is more or less confirming it

Has to be real Madrid, I don't know why Chelsea and even city would otherwise eliminate themselves from the race by signing or trying to sign 100m+ st lukaku and Kane
