Great pass by Greenwood that. Rashford has to slot Bruno.

    Shocking display by him today
You just absolutely have to. If you miss it then fine, it's not the easiest of balls to play first time (although neither is it the hardest because it has come in rather softly at the end due to backspin). But you have to try the first time pass.

It's flowing a bit better without Ronaldo, I think people try too hard to try and pick him out, so he breaks up the play a bit. He's not the main problem but he disrupts momentum, he'd be best used in the slower games/ CL.

Weve pressed a bit better, defending is horrifying. It's probably another false dawn, they'll go back to being lazy next game. Perhaps as early as the next half.

    Bring that banner every game.

Listen, by no means have we been great. We started well but since that, Villa have been arguably the better team.

That said, I like how Rashford and Greenwood have kept the width. We started the game switching play and getting them in 1 v 1s but the tempo slightly dropped. We have created some decent chances though and on another day we could have had more than one.

You can tell the agendas are out when people are pretending Rashford didn't try and play Mason in there.

By all means criticise him for not passing earlier, or for his touch or whatever, but at a bare minimum posters shouldn't be fabricating excuses to launch personal attacks on our players.

That Rashford pass on for Greenwood at the end is much harder than it looks on TV. He basically would have needed to release it exactly at the right time with good weight.
As soon as he took the extra touch he had to shoot. It should've been played when he was approaching the area not once inside the area.

I bet Greenwood is coming off ahead of Marcus "The Chancewaster" Rashford. Bruno has the highest intensity but needs to stop those Hollywood shots and passes.

I've never been more certain that United will lose a game of football than I am about this game of football.

I've nearly 40 years as a United fan unde my belt and I'm more deflated about the team than I've ever been. I just don't see anything to give me any hope it will get better. I don't think transfers will make much of a difference, neither will a new manager.
Yes... I've been feeling so deflated too. The Wolves game was dreadful, it was like the cherry on top of so many terrible performances and results.

I've been a supporter of 30+ years... I was thinking about taking a break from watching games and put my time more postively something else (like doing things I should be doing instead of watching the game), of course I'm watching the Villa game haha! In my defence I'm working out at the same time... so definitely positive.

Yup. Execution has been poor throughout... But I think it's obvious that there has been a much better structure to our play, better patterns to get in good positions and better movement imo. Baby steps..

How can Mctomminay play like this and then around two levels below the next game? If he maintained this he'd be a beast.
He is not playing great at all this game either, only difference is scoring goals. As a midfielder it's far from great.

Rashford should pass to Greenwood and missed Bruno earlier. He’s a selfish player
He plays for himself. Greenwood isn't much better.

One of the reasons we are in the mess is because our forwards are selfish and refuse to play one another in.

I agree. Rashford does however make it harder for himself by not cutting in to get ahead of his closest Villa player

Rashford has looked more dangerous down the right hand side, they've left it wide open and he can run into space behind them, sadly it just underlines his limitations as a player

Thought Rashford actually looked.quite good since moving to the right. He found space and linked up well with Greenwood to create a chance near the end of the half.

Made the wrong decision later on when opting to shoot rather than pass. But he's been more involved in progressing, attacking football tonight than in recent games. He's playing like he's desperate for a goal now, rather than desperate for any form like he was in previous fixtures.

Rashford has had so much of the ball he needs to learn to do more with it. He is obsessed with doing skill after skill. No stand out performances so far, not necessarily at bad thing as we look more of a team than we have in a while. I'm just happy at this point to see an improvement to what we saw against Newcastle and Wolves. I think we have also pressed much better today, as a unit some or most of the time. We usually play better in the second half, hoping to see more plus a bit of Donny, Amad and Elanga.

    In terms of our 'defense'.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first time we've played a CB partnership of Varane-Lindelof ?

I could be wrong but I don't recall it.

The commentator’s pronunciation of Buendia is very distracting.

It might be right, but all I can think of is “are you saying boo, or boo-endia?”

Much better display. Started and ended the half strong. Still a bit shaky at the back but Villa have some good attackers, so it's to be expected. McFred goal was great to see. Fred with a good first touch would be an amazing asset and Rashford with better decision making is a world class player. He makes such good runs but just fails to make the right choice. The most important thing is that we look like we have an idea what to do. 4-2-3-1 is the way to go with this group of players, at least for the rest of the season.

Commentators pushing hard with the "United ahead but Villa with all the chances" narrative.

We'll just ignore the fact that United have had 13 shots to their 7 shall we? 7 on target to their 2 as well.
They definitely had the better chances. And two of those off targets shots were very close; one was just past the post and the other hit bar.

They've also been the better team. It's not a narrative.

I don't think we've been too bad, the usual giving the ball away which allows villa to run at us.

Lindeloff's brain fade aside, they haven't cut us open and we could've easily scored another.

Only difference between this match and the others is purely that we scored first. So we were able to get a little confidence. Villa are still moving through us at will and have had loads of chances.
