I've just read it over again. Sincerely, really good stuff. Do have experience in psychology/social work, or something?

Heh, I know what you mean. As you've said, the club has become synonymous with illogical decision-making that only serves to assuage the egos of the directors. I know lots of people fear Richard Arnold is cut from the exact same cloth as Woodward (and it's a fair point - haven't they been friends since attending Uni of Bristol together? Red flag!), but he already seems to be steering us in a direction that puts footballing people in charge of footballing decisions. Hopefully, it doesn't end up being a case of going overkill to the point of having too many cooks spoiling the broth, but it's such a welcome reprieve from Woodward's one-man-band tenure I hardly care at this point.
I was trying to think of a good way to answer that; I'll just say:

1. the "average" amount of training in psychiatry
2. "access" to a few extremely high level psychiatrists (AKA chairs of university psychiatry departments)

Most narcissists are nigh-on impossible to detect for the average or even highly intelligent person without training. The reason is that they never show their true colors to those who provide them with something called 'narcissistic supply' AKA the 'plebians' who make them popular.

protip: Don't ever, ever, EVER, try to diagnose this yourself, because:

a) Literally everyone engages in narcissistic behavior at some point or other; it's certain consistently displayed cues on top of that which actually matter (as mentioned in an earlier post in one of the other forums, they'll do things like claim to have seen something they hadn't seen, or they'll insult experts in a particular field because they're so conditioned to think that they're superior - for example they'll go into a video game design thread and call a professional video game designer a 'twat' and 'posting bollocks', or they'll go into a movie thread with professional filmmakers and inject themselves into the discussion saying 'that's fecking bullshit', or they'll go into a science thread and act like they're the supreme voice on all things 'science', when compared to the actual elite they're cringingly deficient etc. Trump's 'no one knows more about __________ than me' was a textbook example of this behavior. This behavior manifests itself differently from case to case; it doesn't always look the same.
b) like all mental issues, it involves a spectrum, a very broad one (there are instances where someone who never says anything is actually engaging in something called covert narcissism)

So, again, for anyone reading. Do not try to do this on your own.

There are several very high-profile (read: Trump-level) narcissists on this forum, for example, and no one has a clue. To the trained eye, they're as obvious as a giant tumor on a scan.

Again, the main drive of a narcissist is to be popular/gain attention (the aforementioned 'narcissistic supply'). From there it's just a matter of how well they fare, and due to their often being of 'higher education/social status etc' they usually fare quite well at this as they can 'lean on' the 'average joe' and dole out compliments where necessary. They leverage their education level/profession/familial wealth etc to lord themselves over others while also looking to appear approachable/benevolent/magnanimous/'capable-of-just-being-one-of-the-guys'. (Which makes it more than a bit ironic when people who kiss up to these forum-narcissists - and who unwittingly provide them with the aforementioned narcissistic supply - then go and bash Trump for his narcissistic behavior.)

Re: the Richard Arnold is 'already steering us in a better direction' and the meat of your above post; Woodward is actually pretty-darn close to being on Trump-level (Trump is quite an unusually extreme example, to the point that even the average person can easily tell something ain't exactly right). Despite Arnold's record of 'ooh-look-at-all-our-social-media-engagements' buffoonery, it's kind of tough to imagine Arnold being as bad as Woodward. (Woodward is/was really really really really bad) We should be okay going forward on that front.

A inexperienced kid came into the side tonight to show the team what hard work and graft looked like. A kid.

At least Martial is not faking it. The way some are playing, they look like they dont wanna be in the squad either but decide to grief us.

I hope there’s a purge of players this summer. One player acting up in public is bad enough but it feels we’ve got half a dozen of them fecking around with us. Ralf is probably wondering what he’s stumbled into.

What a piece of garbage he is.
I got hammered here for saying almost the exact same thing a week or two ago, but it’s still very much a true statement, at least as a metaphor and not literally, of course.

I look back and genuinely cannot believe I went into this season thinking this squad had the potential to win a league.

i exclude all current youth players in this, but my hate for this squad knows no bounds. I really wish we could just field the youth team. Woodward gave them fat contracts to "secure resale value". All this has done is create a squad of entitled brats that equate their weekly wage to their skill level. It really would not surprise me if the arguments after bad games would devolve into dick-measuring contests around their wages. I don't know how many contracts we could pay out, but i'd love to see about 7-10 contracts terminated.

Why is lingard still in this squad if he thinks he deserves a pay day? Why is DVB still there when 2x managers now don't want to play him? Why are we holding on to Matic, Fred, Mctominay? Why the feck is Martial still there? Sell him for 500k and let the next stupid team deal with his perpetual sad face.

I don't think Dan James was ever a first team starter for us, he was really bad at times, but i'd take him any day of the week as a 75 minute sub that at least looks to be trying. We have this huge squad of players that are nothing more than "75th minute impact subs" and even then we pay them 100k+ per week and they STILL can't be bothered.

feck this squad.

Under the bright neon lights of sincity
3 years under the manager who supposedly knew United DNA, back to the roots, hunger football (gosh i think he meant literally playing football hungry), most hard working.

Those 3 years really made a dent

I hope you lot start booing the hell out of this prickmadonnas

They're literally pissin on the club we love
I have been wishing that for months. People should start chanting "You're not fit to wear the shirt" at a number of them now that they have been given way too many passes over the years.

I would encourage to protest the owners too. One flipping midfielder brought in and we are not conceding 2 goals just like we did yesterday.

Frankly we need 2 of Zakaria, Kessie, Kamara or Haidara and still a Bellingham or De Jong too. I have accepted not a prayer we are getting that

Sell/get rid of anyone earning £200k a week or more, we over pay for mediocrity.

Indifferent all week. Match day:l; underperform, moan, throw their hands in the air, etc… lose the game then “we are disappointed with the result, we go again next week”. A hair cut, some dancing on social media, get their wages, continue to be indifferent.

"I don't have the personality to change this squad" - who the feck says that? It's bollocks..
Personnel not personality. Which I think is true, he doesn’t have the players to play his style. Though he probably should have known that

Footballers go on holiday during designated holiday period?
It’s not acceptable this long covid risk trip in the mid of the season during a pandemic

It’s a shame

Are you serious? They're at a massively bigger risk of Covid in Manchester than Dubai.

2 weeks ago there were a million articles about the squad morale being at an all time low, everyone wanting to leave, players downing tool vs Rangnick etc because we weren't performing.

Now after 2 weeks I'm starring to see articles about our players getting back in form and proving the doubters wrong, even though we're only on a 2 win streak.

The media is so pathetic at pushing narratives but the sad thing is we as fans are so gullible to believe every single story that's written about Manchester United.

The truth is likely that things were never as bad as they were made out to be in relation to how the players felt/behaved (I.e. not believing Rangnick). At the same time, though, there is no point in acting as if Maguire or Rashford or Martial or Bruno are back to their best because of 1/2 performances. They need to perform consistently for at least a month before we start seeing the type of articles that were already getting for Maguire after one good performance.

Absolutely this. It is just the norm now in media to put you on a pedestal when doing well or claim it is a disaster after a couple of bad results. No real middle ground
