Tackle this shit head on. If it’s a bit too much for some then I want no part in this forum.
I would guess that the moderation of such a thread would be an issue, given that it attracted numerous shitheads and their rape-apologist views. Mods did quite a job keeping a lid on the main thread for a good 10 hours or so.I don’t know whom it’s aimed at but not discussing Mason Greenwood on the main United forum looks horrific. Are we supposed to just pretend feck all happened. Wisen the feck up and open a thread where discussion can be had about domestic abuse.
It's the usual approach in case of ongoing investigations I think? I remember the Mendy thread for example also being closed for some time because of this.Wow, no thread on RedCafe to discuss it? Why?
They shut it because the discussion about domestic abuse was showing some people up badly.I don’t know whom it’s aimed at but not discussing Mason Greenwood on the main United forum looks horrific. It is good idea to lock it, because people were showing their true colour. Absolute disquasting some of the posts there today.I don’t know whom it’s aimed at but not discussing Mason Greenwood on the main United forum looks horrific. That thread has been an absolute shit show all day. Some really concerning posts from a few members of the forum. Impressed whoever was modding it managed to keep a reasonable hold on things, frankly.I would guess that the moderation of such a thread would be an issue, given that it attracted numerous shitheads and their rape-apologist views. It’s been discussed all day with the thread over 80 pages long? Is been a nightmare for the mods having to ban lots of posters for various reasons with others having the cheek to dig them out over it.Wow, no thread on RedCafe to discuss it? Why?
I agree, something has to be done. There are cnuts in all walks of life but the all that fame and money at such a young age is a problem, especially if they already have a sick view on life.If there’s one good thing that comes out of todays events, I hope it’s that more people come forward with stories because I’m certain there’s a fair few out there, both current players and retired players. Footballers should be made to feel nervous and uneasy much like Hollywood was after the Harvey Weinstein stuff. These people live in a fecking dream world within the real world where they’re untouchable and completely absolved from responsibility.
And hopefully then players at academy level are brought up to be disciplined and humble by their clubs. Ferguson seemed keen for his players to get married early as it would erode the ’single and party animal’ lifestyle that players could fall into like Giggs and Sharpe did briefly, and then if they had a kid, then responsibility would have to enter their lives by default.
I think a good example of this was Rio. Prior to his first kid being born in 2006, Rio always came off as a twat to me despite being an obviously good player. Ever since he had the kid, he became a lot more likeable in demeanor.
Banning is better than dusting it under the carpet and pretending nothings happened. It is good idea to lock it, because people were showing their true colour. Absolute disquasting some of the posts there today.
And think mods have had enough, and some posters should take chill pill. And it was discussed whole day. Time to pause, think, eat, drink, take deep breath, spend time wirh family, get back to life...
Always said this. We have some pretty thick footballers. Both on and off the pitch. On the pitch it's the decision making and not looking for better options leading to a sense of individualism and personal glory. Off the pitch whats happened today, lack of professionalism generally, not leaving the club when you know you'll never get first team minutes. I could go on.We do appear to have quite a few thick idiots in our squad.
Take greenwood for example, if for whatever reason his sexual needs were not being met he could have easily broken up with his girlfriend instead of allegedly proceeding to sexually assaulting her. He could have easily found someone else.
Only a moron would risk his entire career over this. Even if for some reason he's found not guilty he still needs to be shown the door.
It is yes, but don't expect mods to spend whole day long banning people. Give them good night sleep so they can continue tomorrow.Banning is better than dusting it under the carpet and pretending nothings happened.
They still open it and still sleep. Im sure others would report the idiotic posts, its not like the mods would have to individually read every post from every page.It is yes, but don't expect mods to spend whole day long banning people. Give them good night sleep so they can continue tomorrow.
I can't agree with that kind of generalisation. There are dozen of thousands of professional footballers, the handful of criminals are criminals on their own, they only represent themselves.I'm totally sickened and feel disgusted that this guy has played for our club, but at the same time, no-one is surprised. Too many footballers nowadays barely know right from wrong and yet they are having huge sums of money and lucrative contracts thrown at them, giving them the impression that they are above everyone else.
While not all footballers are like this, it is hard to ignore that it is a growing problem within the game. How many youngsters want to invest their money into having a family and being a great Dad?
This woman has been treated like a piece of meat, which is just sickening and debasing. This most likely goes on a lot more than we know and if there are no systemic changes, it is likely to get worse.
Greenwood was always more often than not greedy with the ball, going for personal glory instead of passing it in the final third.Always said this. We have some pretty thick footballers. But now this thread has just turned into the same thing by another name?I would guess that the moderation of such a thread would be an issue, given that it attracted numerous shitheads and their rape-apologist views. Mods did quite a job keeping a lid on the main thread for a good 10 hours or so.
The Icelandic 'incident' was nothing. They just broke Covid protocols. The girls they invited to their room said they didn't stay long and no funny business went on. They were just naive young lads in that instance looking to score. Don't think that was any worse than what young lads do all the time.Makes you think about the last 12-18 months. The attitude of the players on the pitch is always a reflection of them off it. Why did he not go to the Euros? Why has he not played for England? Southgate knew something was up after the Iceland incident. Hope these dodgy types get weeded out of the club one by one.
Good post, agree completely.Deeply saddened and disturbed as a United fan today. I've never been naive when it comes to pro athletes, and I know an average pro athlete's lifestyle is not exactly that of a model human being, but I was blindsided by the extreme nature of today's news. Going further back, I was not a fan of us signing Ronaldo again after knowledge of his own sexual assault case, and I was surprised that it didn't become a big point among fans or media (whether we should sign him or not). I don't know how much the club cares but I would expect them to be complicit to a certain degree in knowledge of this, I'll be shocked if they had zero idea on the Greenwood situation. And if it does turn out to be the case that the club covered up for Greenwood in the past in regards to this, that might just be the final straw for me in being a supporter of this club.
I don’t want to sound like a rape-apologist but howdo you manage to believe the victim and treat Mason as innocent until proven guilty at the same time? It’s safest if you don’t even talk about it.I would guess that the moderation of such a thread would be an issue, given that it attracted numerous shitheads and their rape-apologist views. You don't. Not to anyone who understands the principles underlying innocent-until-proven-guilty. Your last sentence is correct. There's a reason (reasons) 'innocent until proven guilty' is a thing.I don’t want to sound like a rape-apologist but howdo you manage to believe the victim and treat Mason as innocent until proven guilty at the same time? So that courts have to prove guilt and not the accused prove themselves innocent. It isn't a principle made for blocking public discussion oddly enough. You don't. There's a key word in the post there somewhere. You're clearly up for finding it.So that courts have to prove guilt and not the accused prove themselves innocent. It isn't a principle made for blocking public discussion oddly enough.
It's a good question and the point that Rangnick brought a psychologist in as part of this staff might show that this wasn't the case so far.Do our younger players have proper support systems in place to manage their mental/emotional health? I’m sure United have got the required support networks but is more investment required in this area especially for young players who may not have a strong and reliable familial and social circle?
Greenwood is treated as innocent until proven guilty by not being convicted without a fair trial. It's a legal principle, and that's it. OJ did it, and Al Capone was a mobster. Doesn't matter that they got away with it.I don’t want to sound like a rape-apologist but howdo you manage to believe the victim and treat Mason as innocent until proven guilty at the same time? Doubt it. Media outlets are counting up the other players who have deleted him from their social media accounts. You’d bet a lot of his teammates have sent him messages of support. I would even bet he’s boasted to some of them about it before.
But Fuhrman planted the Rockingham glove and Vannatter was a shady LAPD officer!Greenwood is treated as innocent until proven guilty by not being convicted without a fair trial. It's a legal principle, and that's it. OJ did it, and Al Capone was a mobster. Doesn't matter that they got away with it.
