Few articles popping up about this now but I can only see ones from red tops currently so won't post links.

Why is every other team allowed to crowd the ref but not us? :)

Edit : More info here https://www.eurosport.com/football/...es-during-brighton-win_sto8797863/story.shtml

This means in the past 10 days we have had a perfectly fair goal disallowed, a handball goal scored against us and, now, getting charged for something that happens in every game in the country :).

Was this the red card incident when our players surrounded the referee? What was actually wrong when the referee sought the advice of VAR, had a look himself and overturned the initial yellow?

Bloody ridiculous but so what.

I’m glad we showed some fire and aggression. The ref tried to do us over again, as has happened the past three games, so not surprised the players have had enough.

Said it in the post-match thread. It's a worth a yellow or an FA charge to surround and intimidate the fecking cowards into making a decision.

Keep it up.

Oh no did the ref have to face the consequences of his actions?

Have they never seen Liverpool play? I often wonder why we are so passive at times and don't contest decisions. Then this happens. I wouldn't mind, but the decision that the team fought for was ultimately the correct one and was backed up by VAR.

Rumours say that Maguire approached the ref were he told them that they have been performing like him. That's an insult the FA couldn't accept

Thought they went a bit far with it. Excitement with it happening shortly after the goal probably.

What punishments do you get for these things if found guilty? I'd be grumpy if we got docked points.

We should have did the same when the referee for the Boro FA Cup game allowed the handball goal to stand. I was absolutely annoyed that the players and Ralf didn’t make more of a fuss out of it

I always feel like when a player gets a yellow for dissent and the decision is then reversed or changed by VAR, that player should get that yellow rightfully rescinded. They had a strong reaction because the ref made a big mistake.

Honestly wouldn't mind this if there was a level of consistency throughout the league, not to mention the players ended up being right. But seeing players crowd the ref like this is an intimidation they don't deserve even if the decision is wrong.

Yet someone like Henderson constantly shouts, complains and berates the referee’s decision without any sort of punishment imposed on him:rolleyes:

FA couldn’t handle they needed VAR to fix ANOTHER bad decision so now they have to punish united.

Its funny after Elanga's foul I saw our players crowding the ref and thought "finally we're using tactics that Liverpool love to deploy"

Zero chance of that happening. I actually can’t remember a PL team every being docked points in any circumstances. Probably missing something obvious though!

Jesus christ. Every team does this ffs
I think they fined chelsea for the same thing earlier this season when they faced liverpool in Anfield they said that chelsea players complained all the time, crowded Anthony Taylor and kicked the ball into the stands…funny thing is that the liverpool players did the exact same things in the game but got nothing:)

I can recall a couple at least. Think one was us and Arsenal for the same incident one year.

Do you just get largely meaningless fines for these things then?

EDIT - I could've sworn I remembered some but apparently I'm wrong. Seemingly the only ones are Portsmouth (administration) and Middlesbrough (unauthorised postponing of a match). We did have an incident with Arsenal that resulted in both getting docked but was shortly before the PL and well before my time. I must've confused people talking about that with some more recent match.

I posted something identical to this last night. If they don't want abuse, then don't feck up. Simple.

Harder to say there isn't an anti United bias by the day.

Not only did the referee make yet another horrific decision, we see those sorts of protests every week. This is the worst officiated season of football I've ever seen, overtaking last season

Watching that incident, my first thoughts were "oh, I was wrong. The players actually do care."

What sort of punishment are we looking at? I can't imagine it will be too extreme.

It wouldn’t be too difficult to check EPL footage of this season and pin point where similar exchanges to Refs took place.

Given any examples went without punishment, United too shouldn’t have a case to answer.

United should meet it head on.

It'll be a fine, nothing more.

It was inexcusable, nobody should surround the ref, but I can understand why they did it, and am glad they did do it.
And we have seen this several times before from other teams without reprimand

Nothing unusual about this, the FA is always tits, if it suits them to do us over they will. The Rio affair has always pissed me off. The ref didn't need VAR to send him off, it was plain, but by giving a yellow it puts the doubt in the mind of others. I'm glad they had a pop at the ref they need to do it more often. So do the managers as well. How often do you see Klopp Pep giving the 4th official a head ache, we haven't done it since SAF went and LVG and Jose did it and got slated for it. Feck em

So it's not enough to be screwed over in decisions constantly since the Boro game. We also have to be punished for complaining, rightly, about a bad decision. I mean this is balls isn't it?

I was actually delighted to see the team surrounding the referee. Everyone else does it. Why do we have to be the only choirboys in the league? Took me back years to the days of Keane, Ince, Hughes etc. Back then we'd never let a referee get away with a s#!+ decision. At least the lads stood up for themselves.

The FA can do one!

So should have been a red but because of the refs incompetence, we end up with a yellow card and an FA Charge? Bit bet that ref refs a game next week.

It'd be childless but also funny if United's Twitter just posted pictures of teams surrounding the ref this season with no headline/comment.. maybe just a rolls eyes emoji.

Didn't Brighton's players all surround the referee too or am I misremembering?
