And what, we spend most of our budget on 1 player and again leave other areas of need neglected? We need to get over this mindset, we need multiple players in multiple positions, meaning we cannot afford to spend like 100mill on one player, just cannot happen and shouldn't happen, even if he is world class, even though we'd be better spending 100m on Haaland
Lets get real, Haaland signing wasn't realistic, there's absolutely 0 chance he would be interest in joining us. Even his dog knows that.

Kane poor form this season would means there would be lack of interest in summer, which would give us the best chance to get him.

To add to your list of objections -- a "good age"? Really? It would be mad to spend that much on what will be a 29 year old next season. He is just going to get less mobile and less athletic.
29 is good age for some of the best striker in the game. Could give us good 5+ years to look forward to.

For example:

Ronaldo from 29 to 33, 249 goals in 239 games

Lewandowski from 29 to 33, 221 goals in 213 games

Neither of them showed the decline we already see for Kane.

Exactly, those are outliers. Kane has had injury problems too, I believe. Doesn't he have a bad ankle? Ronaldo is a freak of nature and should be removed from consideration.

I will give you Lewa, I guess. But I still think it would be a horrible mistake. *edit* Shit! I take that back! If we were in the Bundesliga then sure, lets sign a 29 year old Kane and he probably would bang in close to as many as Lewa did. But he will be in a slightly more difficult league and so I don't think its apples to apples.

Makes no sense to spend 100m on a Striker that could be on the decline when we have other positions to worry about also

Think you quoted the wrong person mate - I'm on your side in this debate haha

What I mean is this summer Haaland is likely to move, and we could probably get him for 100million rather than splashing 100million on Kane who will be washed long before Haaland if that was a route we were going down. My real point though is that we should sign neither of them because they are too expensive, and we have multiple holes in the squad we need to fill, and I don't see us splashing 100mill on a striker then signing 2-3 other good players that we need. Spending 100mill on a striker would be absolutely insane when our priority should absolutely be 2 quality midfielders, especially if Pogba leaves which he is likely to do so

If we had your way we'd be in a much worse position next season than we currently are now, I have no idea why you're even suggesting this, you sound like Ed Woodward wanting to splash the cash on 1 statement signing that will get social media talking but leave our squad an imbalanced mess again.

We need to sign a striker but we need to be smarter than this and actually use our scouting network to secure a younger striker at a more affordable price that can have an impact and be a great player and there are players out there that fit this bill. If we signed Harry Kane this summer, especially for 100m, then we are genuinely the dumbest club on the planet

We will loss all our strikers next season: Ronaldo, Greenwood and Cavani.

Do you want us to start next season with Rashford as our only option up front?

I think you are missing the point - there's no way we could get Haaland, even if we are willing to outspend the other competitiors. Its not a realistic option, why would he want to join us, when every big clubs in this world are begging for his signature? Sure he is done with his development at Dortmund, he would be looking for trophies (and money) next. We are not even worth for a consideration.

Are we losing Ronaldo or people just hope he goes. So far we know he's staying but we still need a Striker and 2 midfielders and at least a defender. Spending 100m on Kane who's having an underwhelming season just doesn't make sense

You literally mentioned 2 of the greatest goalscorers ever who are blessed with insane injury records.

That is not the norm whatsoever.

Even the players who age well seem to pick up lots and lots of niggling injuries, harm the team balance and stuff like that.

I don't get why so many are choosing Schick.
Since when has be become such hot property.
I think Adeymi would be a good shout.

I know, but Kane is one of greatest PL goalscorer too. Just not long ago (last season) everyone wants him. Even De Gea regain his form lately, why Kane couldn't? Its not like we have other decent choices anyway.

He is not at the age for staying at one place long for a rebuild only. If we are not competing for trophies in near future, he will find his way to move on to another place. PSG is my guess, as they are going to lose Mbappe.

Since EURO, Schick has been one of the most in form forward in the world. This season he's 1 goal per game in Bundesliga. One of the attainable forwards at a reasonable price.

Adeyemi is more of a second forward, which we can use. However, we still need a proper #9 if we sign Adeyemi. Also he likely prefers to go back to Germany.

How do we know that he’s come at a reasonable price?

Leverkusen only just bought him this season and for a decent fee aswell. They’ll surely be looking for a big return on their investment considering the success he’s had.
I’d definitley expext an asking fee north of 50m which would make me think twice considering the success other Bundi transfers such as Werner, Havertz, Jovic, Haller and even Sancho.

Before this season, Schick was a 1-in-4 striker for his club career. I'm not sure signing him for big money off the back of one good bundesliga season is a great idea.

Not serious, but just being realistic - England captain, PL proven, still at good age.

He is no.1 best striker in PL over past 5 years, lets be respectful.
I know you could debate the position but Salah has topped him.
I personally think he’s on the decline as a player, yes he will still score goals but for 100m I’d want to be sure that my player won’t be done physically in 3 years. Kane doesn’t fill me with confidence that way. I think we’d be negligent to go after him for the price they’d want

DDG was one of, If not the best GK for 5+ years in the PL, when he lost form did you see anyone lining up a HUGE offer for him?

youre correct, Kane could regain form, but it remains a risk that he doesn’t, and the cost would not justify the risk, especially when we could sort out a few other positions for that cost. Undoubtedly great player but Levy has ruined him for any other club

Midfield still needs to be the biggest priority, if money was no object like City or Chelsea then by all means go for Kane but it is

Can understand the doubts after this season form, but he is only 28, and he has been top striker in the league or the past 7 years already, scoring 236 goals there. Salah has only topped him this season, and I don't really think there's any difference between them in terms of goalscoring over past few years, with Kane have better goals per game ratio. Plus Liverpool will never going to sell Salah to us anyway.

Kane:
14-15: 31 goals in 51 games
15-16: 28 goals in 50 games
16-17: 35 goals in 38 games
17-18: 41 goals in 48 games
18-19: 24 goals in 40 games
19-20: 24 goals in 34 games
20-21: 33 goals in 49 games

Salah:
17-18: 44 goals in 52 games
18-19: 27 goals in 52 games
19-20: 23 goals in 48 games
20-21: 31 goals in 51 games

i don’t know much about belotti but I do remember quite a hype about him a couple of year back, would he be worth a punt on a free if ronaldo leaves, until we sort everything out? I mean we did sign ighalo

I like the idea of Darwin in our team, he could evolve our play to the next level.

A quick mobile striker that can dribble is what I'd be looking for. Isak looks the most interesting from those being linked.

Kane is obviously a brilliant striker, but at that price for a 29 year old (in the summer), not worth it in my opinion (unless the price is cut dramatically).
He had a 10/10 game vs. City on Saturday, but he really has a history of underperforming against good teams in general:

Against us:
4 goals and 2 assists in 16 games

Against City:
4 goals and 3 assists in 14 games (3 and 4 goals vs them on Saturday)

Against Liverpool:
7 goals and 2 assists in 14 games

Against Chelsea:
6 goals and 2 assists in 20 games

Total against the top 4:
21 goals (4 pens) and 9 assists in 64 games - 0,33 goals/game (0,27 non penalty goals/game) - 0,47 Goal+assists/game

He has a brilliant record in the CL, but.......
Against teams from the top 5 leagues:
8 goals (2 penalties) and 3 assists in 16 games (4 goals and 1 assist in 3 games vs. Dortmund - 4 goals (2 pens) and and 2 assists in the 13 other matches) - 0,5 goals/game (0,38 non penalty goals) - 0,69 goals+assists/game
Against teams from other leagues (not top 5 leagues):
12 goals and 1 assist in 8 games - 1,5 goals/game - 1,63 goals+assists/game

For England in EURO's and WC's:
KO stages: 5 goals (2 pens) and no assists in 9 games - 0,56 goals/game (0,33 non penalty goals/game) - 0,56 goals+assists/game
Group stages: 5 goals (2 pens) and no assists in 8 gaems - 0,63 goals/game (0,38 non penalty goals/game) - 0,63 goals+assists/game
Total 6 non penalty goals and no assists in 17 games.

In Nations League:
1 goal and 4 assists in 12 games - 0,08 goals/game - 0,42 goals+assists/game

Total for England in EUROs, WCs and Nations League:
7 non penalty goals and 4 assists in 29 games - 0,24 non penalty goals/game...............

Never won a trophy.......strange that.

His record against cannon fodder has allways been very good though.

Schick played a very good European championship and scored the 2nd most goals this season in the Bundesliga.

He is no world beater, but he is quite good.
His style of play reminds me of Kane. Good runs, good finishing, but he's also great at shielding the ball and laying up his teammates.

Also, it's realistic to get him at a reasonable price.

Adeyemi is a great prospect but a completely different type of player.

Haaland, Mbappe, Kane all potentially available this summer and United are aiming for Isaak or Schick?!!!! Id have either of them as bench players but come on surely we can do better. Id put good money on Rashford, Martial or even Bruno scoring more than them upfront and doing a better job. Our history of great strikers - Ruud, Rooney, Van Nistelroy, Yorke, Cole etc and now this barrel of sht. Im astounded.

What we need is a young striker who plays exactly like Kane played vs City. Period. We need a 9 who will significantly bring up the goal productivity of our wide attackers and AMs. We won't get any where with a 9 who hogs our goal scoring.
I can't agree. That would suit Rashford and Elanga, but not Sancho - Kane is a poor compliment for him. I would rather we got a striker who was ideal for Sancho and Diallo on either side - someone who stretches the play and with good raw physical qualities. Haaland would be a dream.

Judging by latesgames, RR wants his striker to be more involved in the build up. Ronaldo drops deeper and plays for the team. I don’t expect him to score every game and appreciate his willingness to support the manager. A lot of people are unfair to him.

Agree with those who want a striker who contributes in build up. No idea who that might be. If Ralph stays as Manager or DoF, I imagine we buy someone who is under radar. The closest analogy I can think of is Firmino to Liverpool.

Aside from Haaland my preferred choice would be someone like Lauturo Martinez. He’s just a terrier of a player with great technical attributes, hell, he even managed to make Lukaku look “world class”. The issue is he seems completely settled at Inter which is a shame because I think he could be outstanding for us.

There's a really interesting thread on the subreddit r/soccer called Wunderkind Watch. I've been really curious about Charles De Ketelaere recently as a potential option for us as a deep lying striker with physicality (think a cross between Firmino and Havertz). I asked about him here -
Notable reply - ' Yeah he’s fecking amazing, best player in Pro League imo'. Elsewhere in the thread, he and Doku are mentioned extremely positively.

I'm sold. CDK is the one people. I'm calling it :) He'll be around £30m as opposed to probably overpriced alternatives like Isak (£70m quoted to Arsenal apparently), Nunez (Benfica don't sell cheap) and David (see Lille and Nicolas Pepe etc.).
