Did not expect Ronaldo to score 3, or us to get 3 points but i`ll take it.
Our football is still mostly shite but we managed to make our chances count this time. Decent defensively and they didn`t create a lot of quality chances.
Matic looks like he should be doing testimonial and charity games only now. So slow. Luckily for us Fred had a decent game today.
Would love to see Hannibal get a few minutes in a game like this when Bruno and Scott is out.

What a game! So great to see Ronaldo play like that at Old Trafford again.

Fred was awesome and Sancho again. He deserved a a goal at the end.

No idea why we can't control the game better and why we make such sloppy passes at awful times. Dalot just gave them one last opportunity with an awful pass at the end. I just don't get it. Pogba too.

Is anyone worse than Moss? He makes me cringe.

Great game. TOP4 is on?
If Arsenal only gets 4 from their next 3 matches and we win on April 2nd then we would be ahead by one point with Arsenal having 2 matches in hand. The pressure might get to Arsenal at that point and we have a chance.

If Arsenal get 6 or more point in their next 3 matches, then they will probably cruise to 4th.

What a way to tell all the doubters by Ronaldo.

Lot of stars should go to Fred to. Brilliant with his all around play.

This team is giving me 2021-2022 Laker vibes. A 37 year old GOAT (LeBron/Ronaldo) carrying us single handedly. Legendary performance.

Ronaldo was great, Fred and Sancho were good. Among the rest, I thought it was a mostly disciplined performance, people did their jobs and didn't give away the ball for no reason.

Big ups for Pogba too. He thrived in his freedom today. They couldn't handle him without fouling him, his skill is exceptional, some of those passes from him are just... ahh! I wish we saw this more often from him, he's a tough nut to crack, but like we've been saying since we brought him back, he just needs to be played in the right role.
Fred was better. More accurate passing and more final third passes. I thought Pogba was wasteful.

We can't control the game better because we can't win second balls. Our midfield lacks anticipation, positioning and the first touch to be proactive out of possession. Matic is too slow to cover the ground needed to make up for this in attack, which means our attacks failing lead to the opposition threatening us immediately rather than us using numbers to retrieve the ball quickly and sustain attacks.

None of Fred, Pogba or Mctominay have the spacial awareness to make the space in midfield narrow when we are in the opposition half. Matic is too slow to get there on time at times.

Varane, Dalot, and Telles did a solid job defending. Should ne starters. Maguire his usual shit, gifting a goal in a critical game. Feck that guy seriously. What a disgrace to have hi! as captain! Would have Phil over him at this point

Fred and Ronaldo won the game.

Rashford his now usual horrible.

Sancho should have scored 4th goal. Ok performance but expect much better.

p.s. John Moss is an ass

Really? I thought he had a horrible game, and was just above Rashford in terms of performance. Lost the ball so many times, and was neither involved offensively or defensively.

Rashford is gone case. Never thought that we could lost Rashford, Martial and Greenwood in one season.

Our defence is comically bad.
We have the worst fitness in the PL.

We need Ronaldo to be on form for the remaining games to stand any chance of Top 4.

Well deserved win, great game of football. Ronaldo was superb, a really vintage performance from him and that was his 59th hat trick, just wow!! Fred was awesome, and Sancho was also great too. The defence is making silly mistakes which could have cost us tonight. Next up, Atletico!

Kinda funny that right after the English pundits started calling Kane the best striker in the world Lewandowski, Benzema and Ronaldo immediately went on to score hat tricks while all Kane scored was a penalty.

I don't think Rashford had a good day at the office, neither did Maguire.
OG as an OG, but he did some good defending early on.
Rashford was poor. But not harmful to the team - just a net zero. No missed chances or defensive absence or cheap giveaways.

Spurs have shown that they can punish sloppiness, and collectively they weren't that sloppy today.

Pogba wants £500k pw. What a joke. I wouldn’t pay him in washers. Crap tonight.
This is why we need to let go of some of our more ridiculous wages this summer. Martial, Pogba, maybe Ronaldo ( deserved, but he's aging) and if he keeps persisting and honestly based on performance, Rashford. We've been here before in 2016 and 2019 where we had a bit of a clearout. However, in 2016, we ended up signing Pogba and in 2019 we kept that wage. The culture and performances he brought never matched what we paid for him, what we have been paying him and what he is demanding. Furthermore, he's not been great physically, similar to Rashford in that sense. The best move we can make this year is clearing out the expensive wages and keep players who have proven to be good performers in their time here. Fernandes ( despite patches of poor form ) has always delivered for us, Sancho is a good performer and has proven it for years. I would even suggest keeping Shaw and Maguire, as they have performed well for us in previous seasons. However, we need to cut loose our expensive poor performers and bench the average wage average performers ( Fred, Mctominay, AWB).

Can someone explain how that goal wasn't offside? He doesn't make that pass, if the player was a back a small bit, Maguire would have handled it better. So he makes the pass and he was offside so Maguire covers the offside area and leads to a goal. Didn't we get disallowed that exact type of goal a few weeks ago?

There was a horrible mentality with both teams. Just began coasting through the game like clockwork whenever they scored

I guess ours was slightly better as we tended to relax whenever we were ahead. Spurs relaxed whenever they got level! :houllier:

Edit: Son needs new boots!

I think my points were specific to the statement
people did their jobs
I suppose I could give the OG a pass, but then again, when I see who gives it away, we can't ignore the recent history, he has constantly been a liability for us, and in continuation of that trend, again today, but this time it didn't cost us, thankfully.

Again based on the above statement, offering net zero is just as harmful as actively causing harm, because having a passenger contributing nothing makes it much harder for the rest of the team to do their job, so I'd say almost everyone did their job, but a few have not had a good day at the office. Namely those 2.
Telles causing the pen, is a one off, but he also had a few bad moments, but overall wasn't as much of a problem.

Pogba was absolutely horrible today, or was he playing for our opponents?

Missed Bruno there, Pogba looked so leggy, not sure what's wrong with him. Can't believe it's just lack of effort.

He wasn't great to be fair. I recall one beautifully weighted ball over the top to Ronnie in the first half, not much else beyond that though.
Yeah that is a reasonable assessment, its the hyperbole I callout, it's unncessary and creates an culture of extreme views, but I suppose that ship has sailed.

In terms of bad peformances it would be ( from not good to bad)
Pogba
Telles
Maguire
Rashford.

At least that's what I felt watching the match. They didn't cover themselves in glory. Maguire had a decent game, but when he is offering up a brainfart (xBF) a match, it isn't something you can chalk off in the grand scheme of things.
