You don't have to go to New York to draw a blank on Richie McCaw (never heard of the man myself, had to google him to find out he's a Rugby player) - most places in Europe will get you the same response. Same for anything Cricket.
Until your post I didn't know what sport this McCaw played. I was going to Google it when I came off here

I was out for our works Christmas meal last night so missed the match, did we manage to keep the ball better without Bruno, or was Pogba just as culpable?

Great result. Look really dodgy defensively but look half decent going forward. Sancho, Fred, Ronnie the stand out players for me. Fred seems to have improved now he’s been moved forward a bit. Maguire just really unlucky with the OG, could happen to any player that. We’ve seen it happen to Keane before. Happy overall with the result. Still loads for a new manager to sort out though.

Better possession and blind forward passes were less resulting in less dangerous counter opportunities.

Other than the OG, which is the sort of thing that can happen to anyone, I thought Maguire actually had a pretty good game. Didn't put a foot wrong defensively, wasn't mugged in a duel as far as I noticed and contributed quite a lot of incisive forward passing, with less dawdling on the ball than we're used to. I'm calling tunnel vision on his detractors in this one - he's now being watched through shit-tinted glasses.

Rashford, on the other hand.....
That’s actually what I’m saying. He’s now at the point where even when he plays well, he’s finding ways to cost us. We could call bad luck on it, but the Mount Rushmore of defenders in the league (VvD, Dias, Silva and Varane) don’t see that happen to them, because their positioning is much better. The problem is that he’s having such a shocking season that good games like this are few and far between, and yet he still scored an own goal.

I was astounded just how well we held on to the ball vs Spurs. Compared to vs City the week before, the difference was night and day. How can we one week give literally every single ball away, and retain it so well the next? The mind boggles.

Ah yes, I have found memories of those big table tennis events that fill Wembley and Spurs stadium multiple times a year. You’re talking about participation aren’t you?
I read an article that ranked the 10 most popular sports in the world. The article used like 10 criterias to rank the sport. I double checked this with different sources and Table tennis finished above American football in both participation and fanbase. Big sport in in Asia maybe?

Fair enough. For some reason I thought we were talking about the UK. My mistake. I can’t imagine viewership is high outside of China, discounting the olympics. I don’t think participation is a fair comparison given the difference needed in amount of players and equipment.

Because as great as Bruno can be, he also turns the ball over. A lot.

Watched a completely different game to me. Thought our ball possession was pretty average at best for a top side.

Had Spurs had any real creative quality in the centre if would've been a completely different game.

Ralf's improved us to no end but our off the ball work needs massive improvement. It's a big job for the next manager if we want to win things

Brilliant to beat Spurs and fantastic entertainment, but I do worry for midweek, we look so open and shaky at times.

The midfield battle will be very important Tuesday and I don’t know if we have enough, will have to ride our luck I feel to go through.

Nah we were pretty poor. Pogba was awful too just kept giving the ball away. We missed Bruno’s energy and final ball.

Spurs ain't on the same wavelength as City. We are roughly equal in quality to Spurs. We are a country mile behind City.

Far from a classic performance but easily the most enjoyable match under Ralf. Top 4 a mountain to climb but still on......

I've got to hand it to Ronaldo - as soon as you think he's washed up at this level he pulls out a performance like that. Never under estimate a true legend!

We can have a few more moments of happiness this season if we just drop Maguire moving forward. He’s done.

Absolutely this Spuds team managed to beat that team 3-2, just saying.
We beat City last season. You will always have anomalies. City top now and won it comfortably last season, so neither we or spurs are anywhere near them.

No I fully agree with that fully. But we shouldn't put us down for beating this Spuds team.

Spurs were on a great run going into this game and we finished off their top four dream, full stop. Job fukking done to get the win desperately needed and put Spurs in the rear view mirror.

At this point in the season it’s all and only about the results. No one knows how we’ll perform v Atletico. We just need the result.

You've got a bizarre posting style and even stranger username but I agree with you wholeheartedly.

One opposing team is far better than the other.

That was my view as well.
Yes of course it was better than against City. But then City are a significantly better team at pressing than Tottenham. And Fred had a good game in midfield.

Ball retention is important. But only if it hurts the opposition.
Apart from those excellent Ronaldo goals, we were not retaining the ball in the key areas.
