Antony is talented in a lot of ways but he really needs to improve his shooting. He's taken some very embarassing shots in this game and I've seen a lot of other howlers from him before also.
Just as I say this he scores the 3rd for Ajax. Ajax 3-2 Feyenoord

Still think it'll be Pochettino, to be honest. I know the reports are saying Ten Haag, but I just don't see him as a Utd manager under these owners.

Surely a manager who develops youth and looks for the hidden talent out there is better than a manager who wants us to splurge on Harry Kane. Would have thought it would be the best way for us to be going. They have to learn sometime that just spending and spending doesn't always work.

Currently watching PSG lose 3-0 and look absolutely hopeless yet again.

I really hope based on recent reports our board are lively to this, ETH should be the one.
I wouldn't take notice of what any manager does at PSG. The job is a poisoned chalice and has little reflection on how a manager could operate at other clubs.

He seems to be doing himself no favours recently. Blowing it against Madrid, getting mullered today 3-0. I hope to god we don't go for him, will be the most uninspiring and unambitious manager we could possibly bring in.

To a degree. But he's their worst performing manager of the Qatar era, with arguably the best set of players.

FT: Ajax 3-2 Feyenoord. A good comeback and probably deserved on the balance of the 90 mins.

Potter and Hassenhuttl are plying their trade and testing themselves in the toughest world league. Ten Hag is untested in a top level league. I'd have Arteta before Ten Hag. The Eredivisie is a poor standard league. It is currently judged by Uefa as the seventh best league in Europe in terms of standard, behind Portugal and just in front of Austria and...Scotland.
So where do the Spanish second league and German second league rank compared to Eredivisie? Cause that’s where Pep and Klopp started from.
What about Zidane? He was just an assistant then went back to La Castilla before being handed the first team.

He's doing a worse job than all his predecessors with a better squad. He'll also be coming off 3 sackings out of the 4 clubs he's managed. If that doesn't scream damaged goods I don't know what does
For once Utd should hire someone who's stock is high/on the rise

But they didn't come to the Prem straight from there.
The top scorer in the Eridevisie is Haller who was garbage for West Ham in the Prem. If we get Ten Hag then why not sign Haller? Same principal. But fans would i would wager question the signing of Haller.

I just hope they make offering it to Simeone their top priority and if he says no then look elsewhere

Ten Hag's stock is high? He is unproven in a top European league. As was Ole.

So what if they didnt come to the premier league from there?
You are going to ignore the dynasty that Pep led during his time at Barca, one of the best squad ever in club football history? You are going to discredit Klopp’s Dortmund that got Bayern trembling?

Why the feck would we do that? Simeone is a terrible fit.

Just the best manager we could get a proven winner at the top of his game who would demand the players give everything for the shirt

Pure blasphemy of the highest order putting Ten Hag and Ole in the same sentence. Ole's best work came from the Norwegian League who aren't even ranked in the top 20 leagues in Europe with barely any CL experience, the few times he's managed in a top league he has a relegation on his CV and an overrated "Cultural Reset" at Utd that's set the club back 2/3 years.
Whatever you think of the Eredevisie it's a MUCH stronger league than Norway(Eredevisie is top 10 in Europe) Ajax are one of the most prestigious teams in Europe and ETH has a solid CL record to boot going toe to toe with some of the biggest teams and putting Ajax back on the map after 5 years of them being a sleeping giant prior to his arrival so yes his stock is high and MUCH higher than Pochettino's at the moment who's been a catastrophic failure at his first big club

He shouldn’t be the first one to go in a clear out, which is what the Twitter brigade would like everyone to believe. A replacement GK should be down the list in a rebuild.
I'm not sure the order really matters that much. Lots of players we have are decent if you build a team around their weaknesses. Pogba won the World Cup even. But I agree the guy deserves more respect.

It's not about the high press, because not every coaches primary goal is to by-pass the midfield and counter press high up the pitch.

PSG have very technical players in the forward positions, so it would've been better for them to higher someone who was adept at implementing a possession game with zonal and positional capabilities. Pochettino has never been that type of coach and is thus predictably struggling
They seem to have the same problem as us but with Messi instead of Ronaldo. Over paid big name demanding team be built around his fading skills rather than modern tactics.

So the untested Ten Hag who has zero experience in management at a top European league - the Eridivesie isn't that - is favoured by fans in this poll. Sorry. He is a fashionable name with no substance. I'd rather have Moyes back than Ten Hag. I'd have had Conte yesterday. I'd have Hassenhuttl or Potter before Ten Hag.

Amusingly a prankster has put on Wikipedia that he will join Man Utd in the summer. Hahahaha. Please no.
The absolute state of this post :houllier: ETH would be a risky appointment but just as risky as anyone else. He has shown plenty of signs that he can make his team control games similar to how Pep's teams do. You don't rate Eredivisie - fair enough but his CL record is also very good considering the quality of players at his disposal. Experience in top European league is so overrated it's mental. If you are good enough you will make it. ETH is a very promising manager but nah, would rather take Moyes back :houllier:

We have to take a longer term approach. Simeone is the antithesis of how United want to play football. Ten Hag helped revive Ajax and took them to a point in CL where they hadn’t been in 22 years. He’s a risk worth taking.

Nah. 8 years of parking the bus is enough for me. One more and it'll kill any enjoyment of football I still have left.

We had the same problems without Ronaldo. The only difference this season was that Solskjaer was attempting to have us playing further up the pitch and it went all wrong because we couldn't create a compact high block.

Maguire, AWB, and de Gea are bigger problems than Ronaldo, if we're to transition into a team that can stay compact high up the pitch and hence apply the press.

Sometimes the best set of players are a recipe for disaster. Take Beckham. Went to Madrid at the height of Los Galaticos and only won 1 league in 4 years. When a player has more power than the manager then it's just not going to work.

PSG signing Messi was a bit like us signing Ronaldo. The power they have within the dressing room is more than the manager. Add Neymar and Mbappe into the equation with the power they have then the managers job takes second plane.

I rate Poch and am not making excuses for him but the moment he decided to take the PSG job I knew he fecked up. I don't even think Klopp or Pep would succeed there in one season with the expectations they put on their players. Zidane being an absolute legend added with his man management skills I feel would be the only one to have a shot without changing the team too much.

Horses for courses which is why Poch is still my number one choice although if TH come in I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Norway ARE in the top 20 of European leagues. Currently sitting 20th. That is by the by, anyway. Ole got the job based on results as interim. And there weren't too many dissenting voices at the start altho we knew deep down he had not got the chops for it long term. He lost the job because of results.

I find it astounding that we'd pass up proven Conte for unproven Ten Hag.

Can i point out also that Ronald Koeman got a Prem job but not a top one after winning the Eredivisie three times as a manager with Ajax and PSV.. And failed.

Or Ten Hag was able to make him overperform way above his normal level which also made him score 11 goals in the CL.

Sahin and Kagawa played brilliantly with Klopp at Dortmund and then were rubbish after they were sold, this didn't reflect badly on Klopp.

So Ten Hag is a superior coach right now to David Moyes? Really?

I should say Moyes is a far better bet now than when he first joined United. He has learnt some valuable lessons. How? By testing himself at the highest levels of world football.

People keep saying this but have you ever thought that maybe it's West Ham and not Haller? He was smashing them in for Frankfurt, is smashing them in for Ajax in the league and was smashing them in in the Champions league.

Antonio who has replaced him only has 8 goals in 29 Prem games this season and that's whith taking a few pens and West Ham having one of their best seasons ever.

I've seen enough to know I want ETH here and I honestly wouldn't care if he brought the likes of Anthony and Haller with him. I want him to bring any player he wants and let him create a team he wants what ever that may be.

Hmm it wasn't great but we looked reasonably good at the end of last season. Ole was done for more by the McFred injury than anything else but Ronaldo has looked like a problem as soon as we switched to high press from whatever mess you want to call the previous system.

Even Brendan Rodgers is a far more proven manager than Ten Hag. But i get that Ten Hag is the fashionable fresh new name on the block this season (for the majority) and that familiarity breeds contempt. We need a proven manager in a top league.

And the Prem is the world's most competitive league. It is harder to score goals there than in Eredivisie

Ten Hag plays football that's far more suited to top clubs. Moyes has tested himself to prove once again his ceiling is the likes of WHU and Everton.

I also don't know what to tell if you're actually advocating for Moyes to be given another chance at United.

I am merely saying he is a better option based on experience.

His predecessors didn't have a don't give a feck Messi to try and shoehorn into the team. May not seem a big deal but we've been having our very own discussions about how Ronaldo is disrupting our team. Whether it's true or not it's worth considering. Like I said in a previous post. If a player has more power than the manager then it's already game over.

Maybe people should look at the reasons Poch has been sacked instead of taking it for granted he just isn't a good manager.
When Poch first came to Espanyol they were doomed. He then preceded to take them to mid table status for 3 years which for a club nearly always fighting relegation was a massive achievement. He blooded in plenty of youth which were then being sold to pay for their new stadium which is why it went tits up in the end. Living close to their ground I went to plentry of Espanyol matches and I can tell you the difference between the team pre and post Poch is noticeable.

At Tottenham it was much the same story. Completely limited in the transfer market, once again to pay for a new stadium. Key players contract unrest was only going to finish one way.

As there's rumours about us building a new ground maybe hiring Poch would be the perfect candidate. Punching above his weight for 3 years before it goes tits up again:)
