This is actually why we need a striker almost more than any other position, Ronaldo shouldn't be playing more than one game a week under any circumstances.
Striker is almost biggest priority and we should also start scouting for goalscoring RW in case of bigger exodus this summer.

It would actually be a pretty cool way of finishing his time with us. Obviously playing in a good United team and winning something would be ideal.

But having a good season at 37 and winning our player of the year in a terrible team has its own charm and level of achievement.

@troylocker how many does he need to score before he no longer has a "net negative impact"

How closely have you followed his career? For some in here that have gone through it all like myself or @SportingCP96 and more people, we've said multiple times earlier he could still hit 40 in a very good attacking team. It never seemed far fetched back then, it's just getting quite obvious he's far from being done. He has an enormous amount of qualities that go beyond age. It's always good to see new people understanding that.

He'd have destroyed every PL record in existence if he had spent 15 years here, but I mean that's a given.
I’ve watched every game of his since around February 2006 when I started following United closely as a fan.

Trust me, I shared the same beliefs earlier on too - that he could hit 40+ goals a season in a fully functional side but I kept subconsciously making excuses for the team and ignoring the very obvious. But it’s just too clear now and an unavoidable fact. His biggest mistake really was leaving Madrid in the first place. He would possibly still be competing for the BDOR had he remained and most likely would’ve already won another 1 or 2. He has been his own demise in some ways.

This dude is incredible. In an absolutely tragic team, he has managed to pull out 23 goals in all competitions, and he could still add more. For context, this is the same as in 06/07, which was he real breakthrough season. I'm willing to bet that at least 20 of those directly impacted the results of the game - either by being opening goals, game winners, equalizers, etc. I mean he has two hattricks in 3-2 wins, FFS. On top of that he shows more desire and leadership than the rest of the team combined. He actually cares.

He certainly hasn't been perfect all the way through, but to suggest in any way he has been a liability to this team is a massive insult.

Edit: To further elaborate on his goal tally, this is his second best goals/games ratio season for us by some margin above 06/07 and 08/09.

How can you say that after watching him play LB for the majority of the game.
The competition in him for personal accolades and achievement obviously isn’t a bad thing although it can come off as selfish at times. But it is definitely what has kept him going this season.

I mean considering what those 2 did in the CL i don't anyone doubted that.
i remember around then when they were amassing those unprecedented numbers, people would put it down to the quality of La Liga and how they could never get such numbers in the prem; even though they were scoring at the same rate in the CL.

I get that but surely a player that only cares about the individual wouldn’t be running around for the team like that and at his age. I mean the season is pretty much dusted as far as the race for top 4 goes yet he’s still as motivated to help out all over the pitch as ever. His work-rate today doesn’t really add much for him on a personal level especially after getting his goal.

Even then, he basically scored 30+ goals in his premier season over here.
What shame we gave him away so soon, could have easily had another CL or two(2010,12,13 could have gone so much better for us)

absolutely brilliant again amongst a shower of shite.
that volleyed pass down the right wing towards the end was something else.
the only positive of this season.

As I said before full credit to him either way.

If we see another player of his like again in the next 50 years we will be very, very lucky.

He has achieved everything in the game 3 times over and is still the player that looks most distraught when we concede a goal. He has also been hugely consistent in tracking back this season, I am not smart enough to know whether he presses well because we don't press as a unit at the right times which means it always looks terrible and slow but he has had so many important moments covering the left back spot specifically.

Probably the athlete that I respect most in my lifetime for what he does in his profession.

Perez pushed him out a bit too, Perez is sneaky, played the same game with Ramos, I don't say that as a bad thing to Perez, quite the contrary. Obviously Ronaldo doesn't know how to stop either so a new challenge always seems good in his mind, specially after some years in the same place.

Either way, you're right. He was a perfect fit for RM and RM were a perfect fit for him.

As others have said, excellent tonight.

What a professional. Talk about leading by example during a difficult time for the club, let alone when his unborn child has just passed. Professional probably isn’t a strong enough word. A true winner.

Amazing what he's done in this shitshow of a team at 37 in this league to be fair. Play him once a week and he'll do the business.

Hope we get one more season.

He won’t retire until at least 42. He does not look anything close to his age.

Still as good a finisher as the best of them.

I honestly would love him at Bayern. He would bang in 30 in his sleep.

At 37 he's only 5 league goals behind Salah who's in his prime and plays for a quadruple challenging team while Ronaldo plays in one of the worst United sides in history. He has cemented his goat status for me this year I've always kinda thought he was anyway but this year with how shit Messi been while Ronnie keeps scoring shows who's the real goat.

I think it was more the quality of the team around them, until Pep and klopp took over, even the best premier League sides like city and chelsea didn't have super teams the way Madrid and Barca did for most of the last decade. But given the absolute dross Ronaldo has played with this season it likely wouldn't have been an issue

To change leagues twice in what most would be their tail end of their career and score the amount of goals he has is absurd.

Only 5 behind prime salah who to some is a contender for best in the world ….

does anyone doubt that in a better team he would be the top scorer in the league….at fecking 37…

Truly is. At 37 he is likely to finish on 20+ league goals in the most competetive league in the world. Meanwhile Messi scored 4 in Ligue 1. I hope he stays next year, I truly do.

Considering Salah has scored 5 against us that were totally meaningless and most of our team had totally capitulated, if they swapped roles I would imagine Ronaldo would have got the additional 5 in those 2 matches alone.

I must admit I barely ever get emotional about the sport anymore but I'll be a little sad if he goes. I want to see more of him next year here. Only attractive thing about us at the moment is his brilliance.

A good performance even without the goal.

Would love to see him get 20 league goals for the season.

If he was to go to bayern that would mean he has played for the biggest team in the 4 major leagues, not too bad and I don't think anyone's done it before.
Hopefully lew stays so we could keep him for another year.

He looked done at this stage. But he rose again even in this joke of a team. What a player man.

I hope he gets to 20 league goals. Will be the first to do so since RvP which is fantastic and depressing in equal measure.

Also, I’ve doubted him earlier in the season, but I hope he stays for an extra year. Who better for our new players and youth to look up to than him? He’s the GOAT. And I also think ETH might be able to squeeze even more poacher goals out of him if we can sort out our approach play.

Yea, imagine Ronaldo having played against us this season, for maybe City or Liverpool. Easiest pair of hatricks he'd score.

I wouldn’t mind if he leaves us for Bayern for CL and trophies. He has given us 100% and is by far the best player in our team, he deserves far better than us.

He'd be top scorer in the league at 37 if he were at Citeh, 'Pool or Chelsea given the consistent service that would be available to him.
That top six stat is remarkable when he hasn’t had the benefit of playing against Man United.

I dont want to say it but it would be selfish for wanting him to stay knowing that he would be wasting another year of his career here with us.

I want him to go somewhere and win the Champions League one last time.
