I guess there aren't many on here that rate this show? I thought Season 1 was good FWIW...

Up to episode 7 so far, loving it, reminds of the video for the Beastie Boys "Sabotage" every time I watch it, which is a spoof on 70s/80s cop shows. The CIA guy would have been perfect for that video. No big names, only person I recognise is the Hispanic girl who was Jesse's girlfriend in Breaking Bad.

This is a great show, don't know why it's not more popular. Has a certain breaking bad vibe to it, with respect to character development, alongside superb acting with some small exceptions.

I really enjoyed series 3 up until the final episode which was an unmitigated disaster - pointless, pretentious and annoying.

Up to E9 was really good and would have been a good place to end S3. Ep 10 tried something and imo utterly failed. Hopefully series 4 carries on just telling the story.

You may disagree and enjoy the final episode.
Even better. My philosophy is expect the worst, hope for the best. Also helps me deal with United's current form. Tbf you stating that there's only 1 bad episode this season is setting expectation pretty high.

Hmmm. Pressure on. Certainly only 1 episode that annoyed me.8 and 9 are interesting :)

Season 4 on iPlayer now. For anyone that's never watched this it's a brilliant show.

For such a good show, this thread is criminally empty...
Weird.

The end of season 3 was great, can't wait to get into season 4 now - hopefully this weekend.

Season 4 was excellent. Its a shame they're so short. I binged it already.

I've been binging on this since last week. I'm about halfway through season 2. What an amazing show. Completely addictive. The Wire is in my top 5 all time, but Snowfall is, so far, proving to be not that far off that level.

I'm in season 2. So far, it's great entertainment, but the acting quality isn't top notch, with few instances of overacting or inability to fully act out the character. Plot line is a bit far-fetched too.

Maybe this will change once I hit the latter seasons, but so far it's not Wire quality (which isn't a bad thing!!).

No no, the overall crack era was insane and many people made money. That's for sure.

It's just... A crew as green as Franklin's would have been picked off midway through the first season
Oh fair enough, I thought the same. Keep watching though ;)

I thought this too, it's been a bit too smooth sailing for a group as inexperienced as Franklin and his, quite frankly, stupid friends.

To be fair though - his uncle had plenty of experience. Although i can't remember when he gets involved.

The uncle got involved the minute Franklin wanted to sell in the neighbourhood they lived in and the territory the uncle already sold his weed. That was pretty early in the process as Franklin only went back to Claudia the club owner twice before she stopped buying his entire load

The only part I found really far-fetched was Franklin, whilst in Oakland with his boys, randomly stumbling upon people selling crack cocaine, somehow gets the street seller to introduce him to the supplier who then for some reason agrees to show Franklin the whole cooking process the same night.

TBF the whole thing is probably far fetched if we really think about it. I love the story though, very enjoyable. I also like the fact they always have such lovely weather.

Spot on, on the second spoiler. That stunt in real life sends you to the morgue

Don't get me started on Lucia's plotline too.

It's great entertainment though!

I've spent 3 seasons trying to figure who the hell Reed Thompson reminds me of. It just hit me. It's Aaron Rodgers.

I'm into season two of this and about to bin it off

the Franklin arc is just too ridiculous.. he wouldn't last five seconds in the game, this lad..

I don't understand what the writers were going for with this

Currently on series 1 and I’m really enjoying it so far. Unlike a lot of shows nowadays, it didn’t take long for it to start picking up.

Season 5 finale was good.

Could be a very entertaining 6th and final season.
