Our Treble winning side all day long!

In reality it is probably the the 10-11 Barca side but I’m a petty bastard and they did cost us another 2 CL’s.

Barcelona

Though if you stick prime Lionel Messi into any of the others then it flips it for quite a few of them

Don't understand how the AC Milan team from the late 80's early 90's doesn't feature higher. For me they were greater than Barcelona 08 to 09. Best back five ever and then you have Gullit, Ricjkaard and Van Basten.....all of those 8 players would make it onto the Barcelona team but only Messi, Xavi and Iniesta would get on that AC Milan team surely?

Surprisingly great list. Top-3 should probably be Barca 10/11, Milan 88/89 & Ajax 71/72 and it's always a coin-toss between the former two for the first place for me (I tend to be quite conservative and pick Milan due to the how wonderfully balanced that side was with at least one positional GOAT in every line — Baresi, Maldini, Rijkaard, van Basten, Gullit... not that Barca was much worse, especially since having Xavi, Iniesta & Busquets in midfield meant that the pressure on their defense was significantly lessened).

You can say that it's a crime to mess with that proven backline but Alves certainly has a more impressive resume than Tassotti (and they can certainly afford to have a more offensive fullback considering how great the rest of that backline is)

Gullit - van Basten - Messi
Iniesta - Xavi
Rijkaard
Maldini - Baresi - Costacurta - Alves

Real with the 3 CL titles in a row has to be up there.
It looks like they've limited themselves to one nomination per club and went with the 5-in-a-row side instead of a 3-in-a-row (although the former was certainly more balanced in midfield & defense).

Wait what? there are people that seriously think the pool team is better than United's Team of Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Scholes, Nani, Carrick, Vidic, Rio, Evra, VDS etc all at their peak?

There's only Salah for Tevez and perhaps Trent that get in that United team imo.

10-11 Barca would have smashed every other team on that list.

Too young to watch the teams of the 70s and 80s so definitely the Barca team for me, on a completely different planet at the time.

Yeah, as we talked already in that thread. Real Madrid side with Di Stefano, Puskas, Gento should probably be up there, although it's a case of less footage and a bit easier competition. I mean, once you got Di Stefano and Puskas to play for you it's only natural that you dominate the game.

If you’re talking about all of the Liverpool ‘22 shouts in this thread, they’re taking the piss.

United 99. That side was a world wide phenomenon. Never say die attitude.

Honestly speaking it's probably Barca. Voted United of course.

That's fair enough. Pretty good combined side that.

Never thought of that.

I'd have them both on it as would I have Utd 99 & 08. But then again I'd also have mid 90s Juve in there, 3 finals in a row. They were a brilliant side.

This is the answer of course.

For the record I think the Liverpool side of 87-88 was their best. On a par with the United 2007-9 team probably. The treble winners stand alone in England despite the concerted efforts of pundits to underplay their achievements.

Ajax side 1995? Milan side 2003-2007? Our side 2008? This is like someone just randomly picked teams

Anyway,Liverpool 2022 is best team ever without question

in fairness i see their logic, they have to pick one side from each club, and Ajax early 1970s trumps the 95 side, late 80s/early 90s Milan and 1999 Utd are the just about the right picks. I voted Utd of course but they were in reality 2nd to Barcelona 2010/11 who were the greates i have seem. The Torino late 40s team is an interesting shout though, they had their tragedy too.
