Even before this recent update that "its all but done" - it makes total sense for him to go to Liverpool over us at the moment. We can't offer CL and a guaranteed chance at challenging for trophies on all fronts.

Sure we could offer more money, but I hope we go away from that lure when players have a preference elsewhere. Get players who want to buy into Ten Hagg's ideas and want to be here at part of something new and hopefully special.

Replacing Mane with him is still a downgrade and that's what I'm going to focus on.

We cannot afford to spend 80m on a striker unless we somehow have a budget of 200 mill

Fabrizio Romano also saying that we're in contact with his agents right now, but yeah, seems Liverpool bound at this point. Seems like a high risk high reward signing to me.
More like a high risk low reward to me. I just don’t see him being that good. Decent enough but for that price he better be a 25-30 goal a season striker and I don’t think he is that.

There's potential in a front line with Dias and Nunez at Liverpool but it's risky business. Very raw, no composure and not exactly artists with the ball at their feet.

If we are prepared to throw that much amount of money on Darwin Nunez, I would prefer it if we throw that on Kane. I know he is 29 but he would be still worth it compared to Nunez if and a big if Kane is willing to join us.

What is that price actually about? One good season and he goes for that. It’s not even an Mbappe case where he’s just ripped up the Champions League and looks the absolute business. There are serious reservations about some aspects of his play.

No doubt Klopp will turn him into a boss but even as stupid as we are it would be a massive gamble to pay that. One that Liverpool can afford to take more than us.

Could see him working out ok in Klopp's system relative to any other in PL, but highly doubt it will be good value. Happy for Pool to take that gamble

We couldn't hijack a tricycle off a toddler.

Allison, Van Dyke, Fabinho, Diaz, Mane, Nunez....

They all would've been Man United players when we were on top. This is how it feels to be a 3rd rate destination for young promising players now.

Ouch.

Ogden has now changed his tune.

And that's how a negotiation starts you fecking dummies.

I bet Liverpool will be able to negotiate a price a fair bit less than £100m.

Our clubs a joke now. Nunez was not the World's best kept secret. Gta be the worst time in the last 30 years to be a United supporter.

We were only interested in mane and allegedly Nunez so your point is less effective

Mou signed Lindelof rather than going for VVD.

Liverpool need him more than we do, what was it 3 finals and 0 goals scored? Fecking losers

We also signed Matic instead of Fabinho. Another wrong move when Fabinho was showing huge promise and quality at Monaco.

This is one of those weird transfers that I'm not 100 percent sure we should be going for him but I also fear if he goes to Liverpool he could be a Mane/Salah like revelation for them.

I guess the fact they have a competent team and playing style while we are still a mess means he would be much more likely to be successful at Liverpool at least in the short to medium term

Even 80 million is too much for this summer. Signing him solves no immediate issue in the first team and that's most of your budget.

VVD was a target in January aswell no? After we signed Lindelof and Fabinho Jose and LVG looked at him when he was playing RB.

Karius, - hada great season, but it went wrong and he never recovered
The Ox, got injured when he was in the form of his life
Shaqiri, if nothing else , although there were more occassions ,the cross for gini in the semi against barca will be remembered forever, I am sure they wont make him manager though because of one game!
Grujic, sold for profit
Klavan, stop gap when he first came to the club

Kieta and Minamino both still at the club playing in cup finals and the latter getting the team to the finals

£76.23m united paid for lakaku 5 years ago, since then the market has gone crazy, yet nunez will still be purchased for less, at a younger age with the greatest man manager on the planet to coach him. Still , too much though for a striker
  Let me guess; you are Liverpool fan?

If the reported prices are true, I'm glad we arent signing him..
Not saying he's bad or will flop.. no fecking clue.. but we have limited money and need to address other areas before that.. and have to get in many players..

There is no way we should be spending that sort of money on him.. I don't care if he strengthens Liverpool.. We have to sort ourselves out first.. and spending a large chunk of our budget on him wouldnt be the way to do it.

Eh? He isn’t going to start for us. This is the big issue we have when signing any striker this summer. They have a 37 year old named Ronaldo in front of them who wants to play every game. Who does he have ahead of him in the striking role at Liverpool?
Salah Jota , Mane if he stays. If Ronny is a Starter this Season then Then he would be a regular next season. I don't think ETH and utd are even trying that hard to land him. We May well have to ship out Martial or Rashford first anyway. If they stay ETH has to put 1 of those as a Striker. Even if its a back up to Ronny? Let's see. 100million UTD not paying that anyway.

I think this guy will have a hard time in the PL with his poor first touches. With almost no time on the ball before defenders attack you, his second touch on the ball might often end up being a tackle.

Agree, ETH I think will look for a option that suits price wise, and CM and RB CB options are greater, Maybe he can do something with Martial or Rashford as CF. ?

I really do think that we need to hope that all charges against Greenwood get dropped. It wouldn’t surprise me if the club are hoping the same.
