So with the Kalvin Phillips deal close, that's now £80m on Halland (inc agent fees), £20m on Alvarez, £40m on Phillips and they're close to a £50m deal on Cucerella.
£190m improving a squad that's already comfortably the best in England
Can anything be done to counter such financial muscle? The sort of squad depth they have makes it almost impossible to lose the league, due to every other rival not being able to rotate as many starters in the midweek cup fixtures.
The only reason it was close over the last couple of seasons was Klopp. And even they will fall off now in the league given they don't spend anywhere near close to city on wages or transfer fees, and have lost Mane / not signed any midfielders because of it.
Is the Bayern-isation of the PL a likely outcome over the next five years?
(And some will inevitably bring up United's large post 2016 spend - but it was our spending from 2008 to 2015 compared to City that really killed us, alongside our poor recruitment. They spent huge sums buying the likes of Aguero, Sterling, De Bryune, Fernandinho etc, so by the time the Glazers finally opened the taps our squad was in a far worse state than theirs).
