Good thing Frenkie told Sam Pilger how flattered he was whilst on holiday in the US. Good guy our Frenkie.

He should ask McTominay for his camera and lighting crew.

He won't make a difference. If recent history tells us anything, we'll be worse
Recent history? you mean the 21y old, the 29y old with injury problems and the 36y old?

Yeah no, I don't see the relevance.

Going to be hilarious when we go through all this stress to sign De Jong, finally get him and absolutely nothing changes. Another summer without a true DM = Another disastrous year in midfield.
We won't like it but see Erik rotating McFred in that position this season, however fully expect us to scout someone for this role because don't see them impressing enough to stop him buying a DM

I know it's not the popular opinion around here but I think a competently coached midfield of Fred and De Jong could work fairly well.

We are mot in for a dm. Frenkie does best without one. See his time at Ajax and the national team.

Unless we will play 4231, but we are not in for a dm. Nope.

Rome wasn't built in a day. The only problem is that everyone is strengthening whilst we are just trying to start from scratch again. Amazing what little £1.2B gets you nowadays.

I don't expect us to improve on our league position this coming season at all. And people will be wondering what all the fuss over Frenkie was all about. Waste of money opinions will be surface.

Its sufficient against most of the league. But not against the top 4 teams and now possibly even Arsenal who will have spent £250M in the past 12 months or in 2 summer windows.

Need a DM then
In my dreamland, the DM is as likely done as likely Frenkie is ;)

Besides, knowing ETH, I wouldn’t even be surprised if we see one of the CBs as a makeshift DM if we can’t sign a new DM.. sometimes I wonder what a Bailly or Tuanzebe could do in that position with proper coaching.. or play Lindelof there and keep Bailly as backup CB since he seems like a ETH type CB.. I mean it’s better to give one of them a shot than try one of McFred there again if they just can’t play the role properly.. Lindelof is a way bigger liability at CB anyways..

I never mentioned them. Tell me a successful signing in the last 10 years.

What system is this? Not critical of what you said just wondering what you mean with a Bailly type of defender.
High defensive line compressing the midfield meaning you don't need a DM, but do need quick defenders as the high line will inevitably have recovery moments.

Maguire would not work for example.

and still we sit and wait. Next week we'll increase our offer to £7.80p and a lifetime subscription to MUTV. New faces, same old crap

The bloke is literally in America. It's not really surprise to see this transfer go nowhere right now. We know he's back next week.
How does it affect the transfer ? Every player is on holidays, I guess nobody signed anyone.

De king doesn’t need a traditional dm, that’s why we want him. He also doesn’t really need quick cbs, hence why we want him. These are in fact why neves wouldn’t work without major upgrades to the team. Neves is so slow, and needs someone to do the donkey work for him, that if he is our backup choice we will need a quicker cb, and a destroyer style dm.

this imo is why we want fdj, he means we don’t have to go big on other players, spending 65m oh him means we don’t need two/three other players. The other backup is more likely Ruiz, but he would require an upgrade to cb, but probably not a midfield protector.

So you don't feel we are bit too open and lightweight without a Rodri/Fabinho/Casemiro type in there then

What has bis holiday got to do with anything? We can't agree a fee with Barca whilst doing feck all besides that.

That is disgusting, 4 pictures, first one is him practising with a ball. Please, someone tell him he needs to go to a gym and work hard so he can look like Arnold (not Richard) about 30 yrs ago. That is propper Man United player! Work with a ball, tztztz. What is he thinking? Do not want. Hello.

I can't remember why I joined this war.

It doesn't since players usually aren't all that involved in transfers, especially not in the part where you need to agree on a transfer fee with the selling club. My guess is that the main hold up currently is that we switched out our chief transfer negotiator? Ideally this should have happened somewhere in February or March and not at the end of June.
