Genuinely don’t know what the fuss is about this festival anymore. Just lives off its name. What’s Billie Eilish doing occupying a headline spot with her grand total of two albums?
And yeah I get Paul McCartney is a Beattle but he’s 100 years old.
Eavis and co are just half arsing the bookings now because they know people will buy tickets and then pretend the line up is great regardless. If you look at some of the line ups in the mid noughties it’s on a completely different level to the recent ones.
Also not sure why people talk of the giant size of Glastonbury as an emphatically good thing. I found it really annoying when I went because it meant stages were too far apart and i ended up missing half the slot of the acts I wanted to see.
It's no problem if you don't enjoy it, plenty of us love it and will appreciate the reduced competition for tickets.

Not that unusual for an act to headline after two albums. Thinking of the likes of Coldplay, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, etc. who I think all headlined after their first two. Then there are acts like Radiohead who I think headlined after three but really the last two were the actual hit albums drawing the crowd, though Pablo Honey did have Creep I suppose.

Went through Glastonbury last week. Climbed the Tor. Smashing views. Didn't get any positive energy though. If anything I was even more grumpy than usual.

I want to see McCartney because I'm a massive Beatles fan. Few others I missed over the years like Primal Scream. Herby Hancock would be good but disappointed he's on the pyramid, reckon he would have been good on one of the smaller stages. Arlo Parks I've been told is worth a watch. Amyl and the Sniffers at John Peel I want to see, heard theyre worth catching. Other than that I am wandering. Have some dried "shitake" with me so will just have some "lunch" and then float for a few hours most days...
Nice one!!

That's my plan tomorrow :D:wenger:

Weather meant to be good tomorrow and Thursday, so will chill and blaze with a few ciders for good measure!

The times I have been I very rarely care about the line up.

There's no one I have actually put down to go watch on Saturday, but I don't care, I'll still have an awesome day no matter where I end up. Friday is a different story however, so many acts to see.

Some of my best nights at Glasto have been wondering aimlessly and seeing where the night takes me.
Ended up being right at the front for a secret set by Fat Boy Slim a few years ago, also stumbled across Elbow playing a secret acoustic gig another time.

There's so much going on that the lineup is secondary to everything else.

Yeah it's huge, and you end up walking miles, but again there's so many little cut through and side stalls etc that you just end up meandering.

I love it there, just a really good feel about the place.

that’s fine. In ten years when Glasto is headlined by 6ix9ine and the corpse or hologram of Mick Jagger, do not say you were not warned!

true but those bands are national treasures not some whispering, heavily gimmicky teenager :smirk:

Literally my worse nightmare!
But that’s the thing, it seems glasto is just like a thing to do… as opposed to going to see some good music and getting value for money. Each to their own of course but I’ll always judge it for its music.

Yea, weather looking good through to Saturday then showers. But by that stage I doubt I'll care. How far are you travelling for it?

You do realise it's not actually a music festival right?!

It's a festival of contemporary performing arts, of which music is just one of many forms, and happens to be the most popular!

Each to their own and all that, but you can't judge something if you don't know what your judging!
You require a full on music festival, in which case IOW festival is your best bet.

About 170 miles, although I've got to make a stop just outside Bath on the way down Wednesday and pick up my brother in law, my Mrs won't be there til the Thursday afternoon so am free for the day

Am making tracks to see Will Varley on the Greenpeace stage on Thursday, that's going to set me up nicely for the weekend.

What about you, perilous journey ahead?

Bluedot is a good little festival, especially if you like electronic music and space / science.

Tiny compared to glasto though, glasto is where it’s at. Not been since 2009 and would have loved to go this year.

Are you going to glasto?
Sadly not, 2014 was my one and only visit so far.

I'll be watching from the comfort of my sofa with a crate of tinnies instead.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss did a great job in sending every one of the 40 something audience to sleep yesterday on the pyramid stage.

Really enjoyed Billie Eilish's set. Planning on catching up on Sam Fender today, he got rave reviews.

Feet up at home.
Supergrass were awesome yesterday.
Wish they showed that interest when I saw them at Reading many years ago - they really couldn't be arsed.

Discovered Wolf Alice yesterday who were new to me - fantastic will have to get their albums.

Jesus & Mary Chain were a nice bit of nostalgia but did a bit of an odd set for me.

Idles were just mental.

Great place, proper wafty. We live an hour away so head down there fairly often and our favourite pub The Sheppey is nearby.

First time we went we were walking back to the high street from the Tor and there was a guy in an I’ll fitting suit sitting on the steps of a house on the phone and he said something like “yeah man you’ve just got to come down here, get out the fecking city man, it’s just chasing bits of paper, I can’t believe I’ve finally done it man, just stick it to the man!”

We looked around for TV cameras. It was like he was some sort of Glastonbury actor.

I’ve not really listened to his stuff apart from Seventeen Going Under. I was running over to find my friends after Phoebe Bridgers (who was amazing) found them just as Seventeen started and the sun was out. Honestly one of the most amazing live experiences of my life. He isn’t usually my style of music, but feck me is he amazing live and the crowd was absolutely flying.

Billie on the other hand underwhelmed me. She is incredible and some moments were great, but the set just lacked a continuous energy. Too stop and start. Perhaps if I was a bit closer it would have been better. But the best parts were the fireworks for me.

Yeah it felt a bit flat for me. I don't think she's particularly great live anyway to be honest - the recordings are much better.

I felt like they needed to turn up her vocals or something - it was hard to tell what was her singing live and what was pre-recorded.

Also the set list didn't flow very well for me.

Just watching Self-Esteem. Feels like a big moment. To have taken so long to get proper recognition and be visibly taken aback at the size of the crowd is a joy to behold.

And, with everything going on with women's rights in the US, it feels like one of those magical moments when everything comes together.

The female representation has been very impressive over the 2 days so far.

I’m a sucker for pop music and thought Olivia Rodrigo was terrific earlier. Really wish bbc didn’t cut her and Lily Allen but before the watershed so no choice I guess

Yeah there's been loads of good female acts. Mitski tonight as well. Saw her in Liverpool on Wednesday and she's quality.

Noel playing all the Oasis hits here. Can't go wrong. Awesome
The Gallagher’s are funny feckers every set list for both brothers contain 50% or more Oasis songs. If they could just get over themselves they could you know just reform

Liam would die for it. Noel would rather die not doing it.

Also watched a good bit of Holly Humberstone who I had never heard of and she was terrific

Wet Leg were good to. Haim were ok too

Also loads of women drummers and guitarists which is very refreshing

Never gonna happen, unfortunately. Don't think they'll ever be in a place where they would get back together. I would kill for it.

Thought Noel was great tonight though. That's probably the closest we're gonna get I think.

I had the exact same feeling watching her at Green Man last year. Such a talented songwriter and she was moved to tears seeing thousands of women and girls screaming every single word and clearly getting so much positive energy from her music.

I thought her Glasto set today was slightly subdued by comparison (but it was an incredibly high standard to live up to), but I'm still so pleased to see a hard working, northern woman getting the audiences her talent deserves, and going on stage with a coat with Meadowhall drawn on the back... well she clearly hasn't forgotten where she came from!

An hour delay for Macca on BBC One and iPlayer. I guess someone doesn’t have much faith in him being able to pull it off at this age…
