Looks to have very good control. People are comparing him to Evra but to me he looks more similar to Ashley Young when he played as a full back.

That's OK dude.

I'm honestly just sick of posters having a pop at people's hairstyle, it especially annoys me when it's a black guys hair. It rubs me the wrong way.

The guy just has long hair up in a ponytail. Didn't know that was something to be controversial
It especially annoys you when it's a black guys hair? I'm sorry are you actually trying to turn what he said in to a racial thing? Cos that's some proper bullshit man.

Looks a player, however worry we are lacking someone who can offer the same attacking threat down the right side as well

Careful newbie. In the U.S., criticizing a black person's hair was part of the dehumanizing process from the beginning of the slave trade (look up the word "nappy" and its use historically and through modern day). If someone in the U.S. criticized a black person's hair and said it made them look like an alien, that would definitively pass for dogwhistle racism. I realize that the OP did not mean it that way, but without any context given initially, it is understandable why the comments were pounced upon by other posters.

If you knew your history regarding black people hair in predominantly white societies, then you wouldn't say that. I've no idea about the OP's original intent, but statements like yours are borne of ignorance.

I'm aware of all that mate, but it's fairly obvious that the OP was making a very innocent comment and it's been blown completely out of proportion.

And less of that newbie crap as well, don't be acting all high and mighty like this is the school yard or something ffs

One thing I noticed (and I’ve only seen the youtube videos) is that he can pass a ball with his right foot as well. Fairly accurate through balls too.

Are these just one off passes put into youtube compilations or can he actually use his right foot effectively?

Can any Dutch posters who’ve watched him regularly shed some light?

As I said to the other poster I'm fully aware of it, but the OPs comment has been blown completely out of proportion, it was so obviously an innocent comment.

100% mate.

It wasn't fairly obvious mate. If it were, people wouldn't have reacted so strongly. The "newbie crap" was borne purely out of response to your charging into the conversation like a bull in a china shop and telling a longtime poster that they were "proper bullshit" when the forum is clear about critiquing the post and not the poster.

Aaah saying that's proper bullshit was criticising the post, another thing that was fairly obvious

And anyone with an ounce of sense would've known that his comment was an innocent one. But I'll leave it at that now.

Let’s stick to football lads. Funny how quickly these debates decelerate into … anything other than football category

It's certainly a bargain bucket fee. Hopefully he's good. It's a big advantage to be able to get in competition at LB for a small sum as I don't think it was the biggest hole in the squad. Surely it means the back of Telles, why would we need 3 left backs?
The pathway blocked for the academy kid, Fernandez then.

Seeing Laird fit for pre season training, he has a chance to impress. As he already got positive loan last season, IMO he's at the point whether you either sell him with buy back clause or keep him around and integrate him even as bench player this season. He's still in U21 group is a plus.

I’ve only seen him in europa conference league final. He seems decent and with a cheap price. Why not?

But the poster said 'that's some proper bullshit', so was clearly criticizing the post, not the poster.

He is a poor defender. Hoping training with the first team helps as he is a mile off. Lovely dribbler though
Wasn't expecting his to start anytime soon. But as a kid himself, he sees another kid or a couple of years older only, in front of him, it would sense to look for the exit doors soon.

Or he doubles down and works harder. If he quits because we sign competition then he obviously doesn't have the mentality we need.

I think the decision-making process is different for an academy player. They are only early in their careers and need 1st team opportunities. Though he's only 19 but he is at a pivotal stage of his career. Should be close to knocking on the 1st team door by now. A season away.

If the pathway is blocked since he has Shaw, Tellas and now Malacia ahead of him -- and especially now the club has invested a decent amount of money on another player from another club. Malacia will naturally have an advantage over Fernandez now.

He has to either look developing for a different position to move up or look for a club where there is a pathway at least to get 1st team experience. Maybe send him out on load and see how he does.

Going by most reports we are trying of sell Telles, if we fail this season he will be gone next season.

We shouldn't be planning anything keeping academy kids in mind, unless the kid is like Greenwood type elite talent. Fernandez will get chances or he will play first team games by going out on loan. If he impresses, then he will be considered when planning the first team squad for that season, like how Garner, Laird have done.
