Reminds me of Schweinsteiger. Is Eriksen still good enough to be of value to Utd?
He had a great season at Inter when the won the title, which was just before the Euro's where he was in decent form too before that incident. He looked fit enough to play in the PL when I saw him and his dead ball skills are still fantastic. IMO he'd be an upgrade on Mata and see him in a similar position / position in coming off the bench and starting some

Been sceptical and remain a bit torn on this. On the one hand I'm not super happy that we're signing past-peak veterans, and also it isn't immediately apparent to me why we sign him and exactly what problem he is supposed to solve (although I'm alive to the possibility that's just me not getting it). On the other hand, he is a very good player, who showed at Brentford last season he can still have an impact, if there's a good plan for how to use him. And let's face it, we're not going to have the funds to get everything we need the costly way.
Think the problems he solves are fairly self evident in that he's here to bring additional creativity, control and aptidute for ETH's possession heavy football to our midfield, the lack of which is certainly a problem in our team as it stands right now.

I'm just not sure where he'll be doing that from. As #10? A #8? Left in a 4-2-3-1? No idea. But as long as the manager has a clear idea in mind, that's fine.

When was the last time we had a centre mid who could pass the ball like that? Too long ago.

Bruno can pull off the same, but Eriksen is far more consistent and accurate.
Huh? Have you forgotten Pogba already? Can understand people being frustrated with him but he's clearly one of the best passers of the ball on the planet.

Come on! Bruno is about as creative as they come. 39 assists for us in 2,5 seasons is on par with Beckhams numbers + he scores more goals.
I wasn't trying to be facetious, Bruno didn't cross my mind because he plays much further up the pitch normally. So if we sign FDJ I would not expect Bruno to play as part of a midfield 3 for example.

Can’t make up my mind regarding Eriksen. Will it eventually be a clever or bad deal for us?

He is experienced, creative and playable, but during his last year in Tottenham I started to think he was very slow and lacked aggression. He was easily outplayed defensively.

Eriksen is to me an upgrade for Mata, but I’m not sure Eriksen is the upgrade we needed in the startup.

I guess I wouldn’t have my answer before we eventually know the transfer fee and his wage or know what’s our plan with him.

At least he left to join one of the biggest clubs in the world and not for oil money or, god forbid, Fulscum ;)

He is such a classy player and I am convinced he is much better than those people who are underwhelmed by United signing think and will do well.
He’s an excellent player. Fair play to you guys for giving him the chance to get back into it. Clever club who make good decisions more often than not

I get that people are happy things are finally moving on the transfer front but this is such a strange signing. Really can’t see where he fits as a starter. He isn’t going to partner De Jong in a two, he isn’t going to play ahead of Bruno as a 10 and I don’t think he has the legs to play wide any more. Feels like another VDB.

Bit of an odd one and a 3 year contract seems a tad generous. However, this will be a long hard slog of a season, plus the 5 subs being reintroduced, so depth to the squad and options for genuine rotation will be a large part of our decision making here. Whether he plays consistently or is simply a rotation option is anyone's guess right now. Hopefully this turns out to be an astute signing.

Good boy Eriksen, he may play as a Mata esque right winger, No 10, or no 8 either way its good to add a quality player to the squad.

Theres also a gap for him now with Mata moving on as the experienced ball retainer and passer coming off the bench. Not that I think he wont start, just that finally someone else can have the chance to do that and at worst thats a role he can have. Most likely I think he'll start and both he and Bruno will be moved around from an inside wide position to the central position whenever ETH fancies it.

Given that we're in the Europa League which is a hell of a slog at times, i'm pleased with the signing and think he could be a good squad player.

I feel like he's going to be such a huge signing because of the immense composure he offers in such a critical position on the pitch. Like a 3rd CM and a CAM at the same time while Bruno's more of a second striker than a true CAM with his movement in dangerous areas, high risk style and eye for goal. Can allow Bruno to go gung-ho while he makes the level-headed decisions. Great signing if we can get it over the line.

Why all the Bruno Replacement stuff.

——————Rashford——————
Sancho——Bruno———Erikson
————Fred——-FDJ——————

This is our best from 6 in my eyes, only question is Rashford regaining some form. Its a good hardworking team.

Ronaldo, Mctominay, VDB, Elanga, Antony? Is okay backup I guess. Get Bruno back to his best Position with a mobile front 3.

5 subs can be used this coming season so Eriksen will play many minutes. Also, when he is on we have a decent corner and free kick option.... happy days.

I don't believe he does start often, however he is better footballer than Fred and Mctominay, and we have just lost Lingard, Pogba, Matic and Mata so there is a lot of midfield squad members that need replacing. Strength in depth it's what all the top teams have. This is a shrewd signing, however I also believe a 3 year deal is a touch generous unless his wages are low.

It's another creative outlet in midfield. Bruno can't do it alone and if he's having a bad game, this is where Eriksen can help!
