The numbers aren't good enough to justify this transfer, both from Antony and the transfer fee. Would much rather us placing faith the existing players at the club and bringing in a backup ST/replacement striker.

Very high price tag for a fairly unproven player. He’s better than what we have on the right though, so I won’t complain. I just hope Ajax will be somewhat reasonable with the transfer fee.

The part that most people are missing is the Premier League Next season is 9 subs on the bench and 5 substitutes which can be made in 3 separate occasions plus an additional fourth during half time.

This means to be an effective attacking elite club which aims to win at least 60% of its games we need some serious ammunition as more often than not we will need to make two or three attacking positions within the game. That means we probably need four options on the pitch and at least four options maybe five out of nine on the bench.

Currently Man United Start next season with ;
Rashford, Sancho, Martial, Bruno, A Ellanga
Maybe but unlikely Ronaldo
Should be no guarantee C Eriksen
Promote from Youth A Ganaucho

Assuming we lose Ronaldo and most fans are not keen on Rashford and Martial we desperately need to get at least one of Antony or Ascensio and Probably a free transfer like Dyballa too or maybe a striker like Patrik Shuck for £25M we need to make some decisions very quickly because our rivals are moving and recruiting to prepare for this new format next season while we dither with transfers to fix the midfield which should have been fixed 2 years ago. We fix that and then what, We struggle to score goals Maybe a 7th or 8th place with 50 points might finally persuade the Glaziers to finally give up.

We will hear more about this in the next 24 if the joint bid with Martinez is correct.

€50 Martinez (confirmed) which would mean €75 for Antony.

It's Ajax that's asking €125m according to Castles, we are not the one bidding that amount.

I doubt we would bid up to that amount for Antony.

We made such a big deal about standing ground for FDJ price to then go and over spend significantly on these two??

We desperately need a left footed winger for the right hand side. The balance of the squad is just so pointed to the left, with every attacker we have preferring that side. For that reason I’m really hoping we get this deal done as it seems like it’s Anthony or nothing for that role this summer. If not I’ll be very annoyed we didn’t try for Raphina. We can’t go another season leaving the right wing abandoned as we try and slot square pieces into round holes again. We haven’t had a player who’s best position was the right wing since the Nani & Valencia days. It’s absolutely mind boggling how long we’ve gone without addressing that area of the team.

I can only imagine what Antony feels when he sees all his friends(Especially Martinez that goes to Antony's favorite club) going to big clubs around Europe and he's outpriced by Ajax for 80m Euros and are making him stay.

Mane's more like. The Van Dijk is in Barcelona.
I don't think Anthony can hold a candle to the level of talent Mane had / has. It's more like Lallana unless he massively improves for United.

Hope we dont get this guy he aint worth it, Martinez makes sense he is a better player than Timber right now and was their player of the year. Antony has high work rate but poor numbers even in Eredevisie. There is just better options out there could take that money and potentially get Gnabry and Dumfries for instance.

35mil is pushing it for Martinez and I recall Blind was the Dutch footballer of the year when we paid 17mil for him.
I like Martinez and I would be interested to see how his game holds up when faced with regular pressing in England.

He seems very much like Nani in this video comp . Loves the flair passes and loves beating someone 1v1. He even has the gymnastic back flip celebration for goals. Antony looks like he's in his prime, not the unfinished raw recruit some were suggesting. He's two-footed, fast as feck, loves a risky pass, seems like a very talented player. How he stacks up against Diallo and Pelistri (didn't we buy them for the right side?) I don't know.

I'm really wary of bringing so many players in from not only the same league but also the same team. Players like Memphis Depay, Daley Blind, and even Jozy Altidore looked like monsters in that league, and decidedly less so in the prem. I think Depay could have adapted to playing in the premier league if given another season, Altidore was a lost sheep, and Blind looked like he was a good but not great player, and that's after he was Dutch POTY.

There's something to be said for team cohesion, and all of these players being mooted already know how to play with each other, but I feel we're going to be like a newly promoted side, hopefully one like Brentford, and not one like Norwich.

My problem with him is he's maybe too similar to Sancho, I think he's quicker than him but his biggest quality remains in his passing and ball-carrying. His dribbling success also seems to suffer more in the CL, so you wonder how much it will translate from the Eredivisie to the PL.

This seemed like a reasonable gamble at £40m that was touted at the start of the transfer window. The numbers we're hearing now are just too silly and make the transfer not really worth it.

This in the Daily Record - if we want them, let's just say yes and get on with it:

Manchester United have been asked to pay combined transfer fees of £106m to sign Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez, 24, and Brazil winger Antony, 22

Lallana. Have you ever seen Antony play? Sure he needs to improve himself. He is 22. The sky is the limit for him though. Ten Hag knows this and that's why he wants him.

125m Euros is £105m. 50m for Martinez and 55m for Antony.

24 and 22, that’s doesn’t add up to £106million. What’s going on?!? white text

We’re an utter joke in the transfer market and the world knows it. The best bit of business we could do this summer is replace our outdated Essienesque calculators, to send a message out that we won’t be fooled anymore.

It says that's what Ajax want, not what we're willing to pay. We've not even done anything wrong yet

£106m, £43m for Martinez and £63m for Antony.
To be fair, if the total figure for both players fall within what we are willing to pay, surely the split is irrelevant? If it’s £106m who cares what the split is or does that mean that particular player that costs more would command a higher weekly wage?

No but I think Antony really shouldn't cost that much and the club are trying to get him for less than that too.
The Antony fee is steep.
Yes, I think we would get him for less
