Seriously put that out on a platform that isn’t a United forum. Some massively underrating of Essien. He was immense.
If you say so.

Although you just tried telling us Giggs played his whole career in midfield so…

They were attacking midfielders and neither of them was close to Carrick as a CM/DM. You had the opportunity to name Modric, Schweinsteiger, Vidal, Xabi Alonso or Busquets and decided to share the most ridiculous list possible.
Sorry but where did the poster say one of the best CM / DM of his generation? All the players listed are midfielders whether they be attacking or central or defensive. They were in a different league to Carrick as midfielders….Also I mentioned Modric so not sure what you’re on about there

I just hope Frenkie looks at Barca paying Bayern 3x of his deferred wages on a new toy and understands who really loves him (us.)

Do you honestly believe there is any chance in hell that ten Hag hasn't made damn sure that he is more than interested in coming? This is a player who he knows well and is his priority target... but he hasn't thought to make sure we're not wasting our time? I tend to believe he's not an imbecile.
I think hes been given encouragement but the extent to which is no more than guesstimation by anyone

Not if I say so….ask the question, to non United fans. Also yes Giggs did play his whole career in midfield. Beckham, Scholes, Keane, Giggs. I’m not saying he played in the same position as Keane, Scholes didn’t either, nor Beckham but they were all midfielders.

I've got that many users on my ignore list I can't remember the reasons for most, always good to check in on ignored content as vindication

But surely with all the reports of De Jong rejecting us, ETH would've double checked by now, no?
The fact we haven't briefed anything about walking away in spite of everything surely points to him having done just that at least once or twice...

Can't fathom the player taking him for a ride all summer for no reason. Barcelona have Putin level PR though so it's become a smoke and mirrors show of projecting strength and control in the face of their financial realities.

Their president is literally a politician

Not sure why anyone would place any significance in him going on tour. His club have already accepted the offer. Why would him going on tour have any negative impact on the deal?

Didn’t play the same position so why the feck do they matter when talking about Carrick. We got there in the end thankfully.

Essien

As for Giggs & Ronaldinho, are you shitting me, in no World were they “midfielders”. You’re stretching it with Zidane.
Did you watch Essien play? Ridiculous response, take off your red glasses, Essien was immense, fecking top quality player I would have taken at any time. I'd kill for an Essien in our team now.

Well that’s the bizarre point. They accepted the deal, publicly want to throw him out and yet he’s still going on tour.

It’s all about paying him the money owed apparently but then if he goes on tour that’s at least 3 more weeks salary costing them a further million quid…..nothing makes sense.

Essien was quality but he wasn't better than Carrick.

Essien does not belong on that list. Nowhere near it either.

We went through this sort of thing in reverse last summer when Ronaldo exit rumors were flying and Juventus denied them at every turn while he travelled with them during preseason and even started the season with them only to be sold on the penultimate day of the window. It was even reported a few times that he 'told' Allegri he wouldn't leave

He’s not still a Barcelona player because they refuse to sell him though. He is because he hasn’t agreed to leave. They will pay him 3 weeks wages whether he is in America or left in Spain. While he is still contracted, I don’t see why he cannot train with the team.

How the feck are Barca buying all these players? They've gone full muppet this window.
It's not so much about buying the players but more about their wages. Good luck expliaining De Jong you can't pay his wage when you gave away so much to other players.

That’s a ridiculous statement. Carrick wasn’t one of the best midfielders of his generation at all. He was Michael Carrick.

I get a player going whilst under speculation, even back then for RvP he went on tour with Arsenal but to go on tour after a bid is accepted? I’ve never seen that one.

In 442 yeah. Scholes and Keane. Stop peddling that our wingers in Beckham and Giggs were now midfielders. They were wingers
You’re struggling like mad when you’re telling me David Beckham was not a midfielder

I disagree, apparently we have restructured our deal with Barca with a higher guaranteed fee, in order that THEY can facilitate De Jong's exit in relationto the wage situation. They have made it clear his exit is necessary but he is still clinging on. This is not about deferred wages - he doesn't want the move full stop.
I don’t know where you got that but you seem convinced it is true. Maybe we should all believe it. Where did you hear it?

I'm guessing Romano had no real updates on the situation of him going on tour then?
Or has his nightly repeats not come out yet?
