He’s become a kind of unusual player. Slightly overrated on anything he’s ever really shown over the last few years after he burst onto the scene. He’s entering his prime. There is surely another gear for this lad to go up, certainty if he wants to ever be regarded as genuinely world class and that he’s worth the kind of money he’s currently on/demanding/owed. Barca don’t really seem to believe in him but they sell good players all the time.

The real kicker is ETH getting him back to his best in his best position and him getting back to the Ajax level or even better. If he stays at the same level as he seems to be currently at or struggles in the league? I don’t think he’ll be all that amazing and very very expensive for what he’s currently balling. At least it’s a vital and neglected position filled for us for the next few years…

Another year, another ridiculous transfer saga. Not exactly chomping at the bit to join us, is he? Bollocks to him and move on.

Exactly. Let Barca deal with a disgruntled player that's owed money and asked to take a wage cut.

We should always have a plan B.

I leave here my modest contribution to the 1k pages stage: he's not too short and doesn't give me Di Maria vibes.

Was Ramos that bad? I wasn’t muppeting for him much at all.
I remember Sneijder being very bad, I also remember Aguero on the official united forum before he went to City (2 seasons before). I vaguely remember Strootman here, Pogba was a long saga too.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I remember Vidal being a long drawn out (non saga) but a long thread of nothing.

Some of the older sagas was as Social media was "starting" to take off nobody really knew anything so it was looking at random interviews reading into absolutely nothing.

Craig Burley reckons he was shite and he is never wrong about anything ever.
surely he didnt actually say that, Burley? Gullit, the 3rd best player in dutch football history arguably, was shite according to fecking Burley...

Gullit run rings around players in the prem even at the age we had him. He was toying with players! Whereas Burley was trash more like.

For me it was Vidal, Thiago, Sancho, Pogba, Sneijder probably in that order. Been lurking since the summer Ronadlo signed for Madrid I’m fairly sure. I only became a really desperate muppet post Fergie though.

He didn't actually but he has a grudge because Gullit dropped him for the FA cup final and he has commented that Gullit was incapable of recognizing his own decline and was also basically a complete twat of a human being.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.

I looked that up myself as I thought that would be too cretinous even for Craig Burley, and to be fair to him he raved about Gullit as a player but hated him as a manager.

Oh Burley has always held an FA cup final grudge. Funny how he never brings up his ridiculous backpass at Villa park in the semi though, eh

Sneijder was very bad some even made Sneijder caf.

Pogba is cringey as feck with plane tracking.

This one is... Yet to be seen

Should start a GoFundMe page for him to live out his dream of being Barca's punk
I‘d be interested to see how much a United GoFundMe would collect for his signing.

Hypothetically, I think United supporters worldwide would be able to nudge most transfers over the line. It‘d be interesting watching United‘s mass purchasing power unfold. Barcelona could watch a real lever in action.

This one is by far the most boring though. Fee agreed ages ago, and since then just an impasse over wages owed. There’s really nothing else to say, but the same speculation about whether he wants to come or not continues ad Infinitum. We wouldn’t have agreed a fee and gone this far unless we knew he wanted to come. The deal would’ve been closed if he wasn’t owed 17m by Barca. A massive amount of money for anyone. The only speculation is whether Barca will pay it or not. The rest is just annoying and boring clickbait.

Personally I think this is the worst “saga” I have witnessed since I joined the Caf 12 odd years ago. Like virtually everyone, I want him to join, but it’s annoying to check the thread every morning, find 25 new pages, think something must’ve happened, only to find 3 tweets by Sport, themselves completely contradictory of one another, and 2,000 posts alternating between “time to walk away”, “today is the day”, and “this one is in the bag, Romano is a fraud”. There are no interesting tactical insights or analyses of how he might be used, or real breaking updates on progress relating to his contract dispute. Just the same inane posts repeated endlessly.

Im pretty sure there is one poster who has managed around 25% of my total post volume in the last 12 years, just in this thread alone. Virtually every single one of which are completely pointless.

Transfer season used to be fun. Hilarious gifs from Olly, world class muppetry. Tons of creativity and humour in these threads. Now it’s just an endless procession of banality and knee jerkism.

All I’m saying is that a lot of people seem to assume that FDJ has this dream to reunite with ETH or at least that having ETH as coach gives us this huge advantage.
I would say it doesn't do us any harm as he obviously has the respect of the player.
