Frenkie is currently at his dream club. His fiancee is happy there and wants to stay. He wants to build a family and career there. He does not want to move.

I wonder if it is a good idea to take a disheartened and jaded player... I really don't know. One thing is for sure: Barca have let him down.

Yeah I think our destroyer type will be Martinez, stepping out from the back line.
This is what I am thinking too. With Varane if available, there is enough speed to deal with long balls or counter-attacks as the last man. 8-9 United players in the opposition's half when with possession.

It’s amazing they create headlines from anything. When you read the article you see he’s been urged by the football guru, none other than Agbonlahor! And they also quote Sport from Spain.

In honour of @Berbaclass and @Brownie85

Eshanul: Berbaclass, please, let's both of us stop trying to justify this whole thing and admit he's not coming. Walk away!

Berbaclass : Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how many posts I make an hour here? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop posting in this thread? A thread big enough that it could be listed on the first page of Google goes belly up. Disappears! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not just a muppet, Ehsanul. I am the Master Muppet. A guy opens this thread, reads a few posts and goes about his day and you think that of me? No. I am the one who posts!
Very good

I think the next thing they can try to force Frenkie out of the club is by hiring a comedian that looks like him, invite them both to players dinner party and ask the comedian to do a standup where he admits his member is tiny all while giving Frenkie a wink.

Anyone still thinks the deal would happen? We need some optimistic lads here to bring us through in time of uncertainty.

I think it’s over personally. We won’t get him. Some of the stuff coming out would not have come out if he was going to come.

Here I was giving you the benefit of the doubt with the lower-league Tweets. Nope, you're a mere troll after all...
Don't worry, i don't actually think Agbonlahor's opinion matters, i was being facetious.

With that said, i still don't think this will happen, based on what I'm reading. I hope i'm wrong, we would have had a very successful window if so.

Fair enough. There's still a somewhat decent chance of this failing for this summer. We'll see if that's the case, though.

Perhaps this will go the Sancho route, we fall short this summer but sign him the next. Although the contract situation seems so bizarre that i don't know if such a scenario is possible.

Ring a ding ding!
But the managers wants him. If we don't get him and move on, the same fans will complain that we always fail our managers. If we continue this saga, you get complaints like this.

You have media outlets calling us embarrassing, lying that we're in for players we have never been in for.

Its a lose lose either way.

Barca are the issue here, not us. If this transfer doesn't happen, its on them.

Frenkie will play in Manchester United shirt before 1 september, it will take time because he needs to resolve the problems he has with the money Barcelona owe him, as soon as it sorted out, he will be in Manchester. Barcelona has made it clear that they want to sell him, and there are two reasons, the have 2 generational talents in midfield in Pedri and Gavi, both playing as CM where they need a real CDM behind like Busquets (but he is getting older) and they have brought in Franck Kessié to share the spot behind Pedri and Gavi with Busquets. Dont get me wrong, of course that they could keep De Jong, as he is one of the best players in his position, but his also the only one they can cash in big money on this summer to cover up the economical issues they have.

They have right now spent 103m total and sold players for 23m which makes a net spending of 80m (tells you something?). Selling De Jong to Manchester United is just a matter of time. They are still trying to being respectful and not forcing him away (at least not openly through media), which they will if it what it takes. But still, i cant seeing De Jong being SO desperat to stay in a team where he is not wanted, no matter if the is his dream club. Pride, cant be bought, and i hope he has some, and comes to a club where he will be one of the keyplayers, be appreciated from both fans, mangers and the his teammates.

Barcelona clearly wants Bernardo Silva, they also have no other player to cash in on (if they dont want to sell their future stars in Fathi, Gavi, Pedri - which wont happen since they are younger and from their academy). They paid 85m for De Jong and it seems they have agreed on a deal with United for about the same money with add ons. And that both Morthough and Richard Arnold went to Barcelona last week (all reliable source confirming it) says it all about where the clubs stands. So like I said, Barcelone needs to sort out the 17m the owe De Jong and I think he understands that the right thing for him is to move on - EVEN if lets say all suddenly Chelsea went all in for him and he chooses them over us - but the point is the his time in Barcelona is over and i believe that ETH will convice him to join us in the end. And one good thing is that we don't really have to have panik if he join us in 2-3 weeks, he knows what ETH demands of him and the way he wants us to play even if it wont be exactly like at Ajax, it still wont be far from it.
He is everything we need in a CM right now, i just still hope we sign Pau Torres for the LCB position next to Varane and play Martinez as CDM in 3 man midfield with Frenkie and Bruno/Eriksen - or it will be more like a 4-2-3-1 with Martinez being the CDM, Frenkie more of a box to box and Bruno/Eriksen a bit higher up between 2 wingers and then a striker upfront.

Get us Antony and De Jong and this team starts to look like something that should "easy" get top 4, compete for Europa League and one of the domestic cups.

The deal will happen. They are literally forcing him to leave. Busquets, Pedri and Gavi all ahead of him in the starting 11. They played De Jong as a CB in their friendly the other day. (Probably out of spite). The president has leaked his wages and is dividing De Jong and the Barcelona fans. They have no money to pay him the 17 million they owe him yet they can sign Raphina, Kessie, Lewandoski etc.. and have told Kounde to hold off on Chelsea as they want him to.

He would be an absolute idiot to stay, would you stay where you were not wanted and were actively being forced out just because it was your dream to be there?

Once Barcelona pay him what he is owed he will be out of the club in a flash.. and surely it is us he is joining unless he has zero respect for Ten Hag, because he has put himself on the line with how much he wants De Jong.

Yeah this one is not happening at this point. It’s ok. The rebuild will take more than a year and I think the squad has just about enough to get top 4, which is the only aim for this season.

I don't get it. What does this mean? I feel like this means a lot and my heart is telling me that we must trust it.
I feel like he's taking the piss out of United for chasing someone who doesn't want to come. It would be different if one of his mates was the manager wouldn't it?

Its stupid! These ex players will do anything and everything to keep their name relevent. But hey, gotta throw their opinion into the mix!
Plus can anyone really take Sport seriously anymore? They've flip flopped all over the place lately!

We have a bell ringer already :(

Come on my fellow muppet, keep the faith! We will get this over the line, it will be done! Don't give in
