Seems Laporta saw Mikky’s IG and Murtough’s smile and accepted the inevitable

Exactly, and that's the crux of this whole problem isn't it?

Why would he wants to continue when the club doesn't want him anymore? Why wouldn't he leave?
Can't say it in public though because means he then isn't entitled to any money

We’re all just sticking around for the end now even though we all know how it ends

Is there anyone on here who still genuinely believes he’s coming? And not just saying it as a weird joke
I'm certain he'll join. It comes down to the same thing from the beginning.

He's not the player to replace Busquets (Not a DM).

He can't play the RCM / LCM role. Someone like Bilva is perfect there while they wait for Gavi to get better.

He's on ridiculously high wages and is not someone Barca want to keep even on a renegotiated max wage (10M / yr) unless they change their entire system (unlikely given they played the same 4-3-3 for 15+ years now).

If that was such a huge deciding factor he might have been more willing to join already instead of hanging around Barca like a bad smell.
Its been repeated ad infinitum that he is staying because he wants his backpay.

Would it make sense for us to put in a bid (and by all reports have it accepted), without first checking with the player whether he wants to come?

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Barcelona have sold another 25% of their tv rights which means they can now afford to register all the players they’ve signed, now they’re after Silva from City also.
Romero has said Barcelona will sign Silva and everyone is saying it depends on FDJ leaving. Today’s lever doesn’t stop that. For all the pretence it’s every bit sporting as financial. They want him gone and replaced by Silva who is far better in the position Barcelona play FDJ.

Because he doesn't have an attractive offer, and he still wants to get his deferred wages, too.

He contractually agreed to take a pay deferral and now has to contractual agree to take a pay cut if he wants to stay, or he can just stay on his current contract and not play for Barcelona. I very much doubt there’s anyway he seems any payments and he knows it

Can’t be long now before Barca start emotionally blackmailing him to try to get him to sell his house to Bernardo Silva at a knockdown price. “Go on, son. Make him feel at home. Literally. A lot of people have been feeling unwelcome around here lately, most of them you. Let’s just show a bit of class here. Anyway…..call me when you get this.”

With the greatest respect why are you sticking around?

You’ve repeated many times it isn’t happening.

You know, i really wouldn't put it past Barca to do something like that. They're a truly scummy club at the moment

They sold his house two levers ago.

Whatever happens, anything below 2nd place is a toss up between a few sides. Much will depend on a good start & confidence building.
Agreed. If we manage to get all our targets, any one of Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs can finish top 4. It'll be close again like it was last season and has been for years now.

I just applied for a job at a web3 company, they're paying £140k a year, so there's enough mugs out there.
It’s like 2.8k / week, relatively low when compared with what our squad is paid on average :)

We all know what we know. I want to hear from Barca fans what is their theory. Wait and see.
Something along the lines of the great Laporta is saving their wonderful and faultless club from the evil scourge of Bartomeu, FDJ is a cash hungry mercenary who only wants to get paid and see Barca suffer, the financial position they find themselves in is perfect normal and reasonable and the entire world hates Barca because of fake news. Probably….

I don't think anyone's saying it as a joke. It's still on as far as I'm concerned. United would have distanced themselves from it if it was dead in the water.

Lads, this isn’t a pissing #goodvibesonly cult. This weird joke where people are congratulating posters for hanging around in here posting 18 hours a seems to have made people forget it’s a discussion forum, even if what he’s posting isn’t particularly moving things along. It’s no less valid than someone posting “This is happening. No doubt whatsoever.”

Calm down dear.

Exactly it’s a discussion forum. Repeatedly saying “It’s dead, not happening” multiple times without anything else to add isn’t a discussion.

Yeah he's coming keep the faith, if he really didn't want to leave Barca we'd have walked away like we did with Timber

Exactly. It's the case that people believe it's not going to happen based on dodgy reports from Sport and Spain in general.

If it wasn't going to happen, i'm sure we'd know about it by now

There's a reason talk of Bernardo Silva is intensifying on their end in simple terms
