I had the worst first week possible. Is it worth punting the wildcard now? My current team:

Ward
Cancelo - Trent - Robertson - Cash - Dalot
Salah - Son - Neto - Sancho
Jesus
Bench: Raya, Bailey, Archer and Greendwood

Should I play the wildcard and swap it to:

Ramsdale
Cancelo - Cash - Trent - Robertson
Salah - Neto - Martinelli
Jesus - Haaland - Mitrovic
Bench: Ward, Andreas, Patterson and Bailey

?

I would generally say no.... as second week wildcards are just generally a no. But then I see you've got 2 4.5 forwards, so maybe a bit too handcuffed.

Son to Andreas opens up Archer to Haaland fyi. A wild card is worth far more than a -4 even with 3.... so I guess it depends on how desperately you want more than Haaland based off of 1 week, I wouldn't be looking at Mitrovic just yet.

Any time you use a WC I think you need to make at least 7-8 changes. So a -4 might be better than using a WC st this point. Al thought I don’t think you should. You picked Son for a reason. No point in switching after just one GW.

My main issue is my team flopped heavily in week one which has put me 40 points behind the top teams in my main work league. I'm worried if I don't take a risk and act now that I'll fall even further behind and not be able to recover it over the rest of the season. Maybe I'm overreacting? I've definitely made a mistake putting Sancho and Dalot in and they don't have an easy fixture in week two. Both my keepers have a poor set of fixtures in week two as well. No Haaland. Son is against Chelsea which isn't ideal. I'm just worried there's too many issues going into week two that could see me fall even further behind and I'm not sure just swapping Son for Haaland and taking a minus 4 will do enough this week?

I rate Son but Chelsea in week two and seeing Haaland look quality against a tough Hammers side in week one and the cheaper option makes me feel it's more sensible to have Haaland over Son going forward.

Utd beat Brentford 3-1 at Brentford last season.... don't write that fixture off for, at worst Sancho, with Ronaldo back up top. He looked reasonably nippy to be fair, as did Dalot, but his value comes with the clean sheet which is a low probability. You definitely have a 432 or 442 with the -4 option I suggested.... but yeah, totally up to you.

Ward/Raya is probably your bigger issue, I'm sticking with Ward for another week myself.

I said I wouldn’t make transfers after week 1 but I’m seriously considering Rashford to Martinelli due to the price rise coming up. I already have 0.5 ITB and this move will add another 0.5 to that. So yay or nay?
Did you do it?

I think I’ll take a -4 to get Martinelli tonight.

An early hit is so frustrating. Hate the quick price changes.

Really tempted by Sancho > Kulu. Have exact cash. But fixture wise it doesn't make sense.
I’m about to hit the button on a -8 here.

Simply put, it’s highly likely Martinelli and Kulusevski will outscore Bailey (who the feck is this guy?) and Rashford, and repay that hit in the next few weeks.

Or wait, and get priced out.

He is 99.3 on the price rise index. If he crosses 100 then I will mostly likely make the move. I do have 0.5 in the bank but I want that 1.0 to upgrade Bailey.

Good moves but the worry would be that the two you’re selling are facing relegation candidates.

Richarlison back from ban, what does that mean for Kulu long term? Son and Kane won’t be dropped and hard to fit 4 attackers into a Conte system.

There is always that worry yes, but I decided to play it differently this year. Previous 8 years playing I would have stuck.

Kulu can always easily be changed to any other 8. Foden, Mount, Maddison etc. I want to protect team value in these early stages. He was MOTM at the weekend and has the most assists in the PL since January, it’ll be quite a task to keep him out of the team

I went with Dias over Kulusevski purely because of the immediately favourable fixtures for Dias of not just Palace at home but also us away

Went for Kane out and Nunez in.

Was hoping to roll over my FT this week, but the quick price changes made that hard to do. Kane has already dropped and Nunez is about to raise tonight and if Kane blanks against Chelsea and Nunez does well against Palace, which isn't out of the question, Kane could drop again and Nunez could raise again next week. That's a swing of .4 in little over a week, that would seriously harm my team value.

Damn how your guys are making transfers already. So many changes already.

I am the boring one always making late transfers due to injuries and Covid etc.

Sticking was always my style too.

I talked myself into -8 by saying one of my new players has to score 1 more goal, plus say some bonus points, to pay for the hit.

It only works when I ignore points scored by the outgoing players, of course

Too many weak knees in here! Damn, what is going on. Is there really a desperate urge to get in Kulu over the Sancho etc when this weekend's fixtures don't add up at all. Wouldn't worry on the prices just yet (though that's why you always keep .5 handy before the start). Personally would downgrade a 5.0 to Saliba which gives you some wiggle - if necessary. But for now looking at these teams, people are hitting the panic stations way tooo early.

Darwin appeals, but he's not on my radar til Bournemouth. See how it plays out just yet with him. I like Mitro as well. Ward isn't a problem. Saints is the cleansheet you want him for. Sanchez looked iffy vs us (he is iffy) and Brighton arn't that good honestly + Raya, Henderson, Meslier and the rest are not worth the .5. Leicester still a v decent team and for the all the crisis chat haven't actually lost anyone outside of Kasper. Vardy also fully fit unlike last season. He's keep all year for me, esp as when people want to wildcard Leicester have great fixutures.

There is nothing wrong with Wildcarding early this year, completely makes sense if you're already seeing a glaring issue due to the price rises early on.

Kane to Halland should be straight forward but within a day , there .2m difference so you have to take a hit. Or if you have other issues to fix wildcard.

You'll get another in November.

Yeah I was looking at the fixture swings the other day and if Leicester keep everyone can see myself jumping on Maddison and Vardy for a few weeks.

Im considering an early wildcard but for me 1 week in is too early. Chelsea could hit Spurs for 5 this weekend then everyone wants Mount or Sterling in, Luis Diaz could bag a hat-trick v Palace then he looks the best 8m option, Neto could have the game of his life v Fulham etc etc. Mitrovic might not score for another 10 games when he's up against good defenders and not TAA.
Im happy to wait a couple of weeks to see how things look. You dont want to fall behind but you dont want to snooker your team either.
