I read the title as Michael Keaton at first for some weird reason.

It's like me walking into the Porsche garage and flashing them the tenner in my wallet and asking to see their best 911 Turbo.

"I just need my really mate to chip in for the rest."

We’re probably worth less than Chelsea went for.

Masses of revenue but I can’t imagine we have many costs that could be cut. Few playing assets. A stadium that is only valuable as development land.

We’re ripe for a takeover.

How have you figured that one out? Our revenue streams are far higher, we have a far bigger fanbase and we own our stadium. Proper investment, competent decision makers and the fanbase together behind the owners and the growth potential is huge.

A little hyperbole I think (from me)

Our playing squad needs £500m invested. Our stadium is a liability, not an asset, our fan base is shrinking, not growing.

I went OTT. but we’re not worth as much as many would think.

Potential is massive. Issue is they aren’t interested in selling for anything other than a hugely inflated fee. Chelsea are spending over 300m on the squad this summer and are still miles off city so they needed huge investment on top of that fee themselves.

It's hilarious. This guy once sacked a manager and put himself in charge. As if any serious businessman would want anything to do with this joker.

Whatever his motives are at least it gets the snowball rolling. If this in any way or form helps spark the protests and boycotts that are needed then happy days.

He's a small time grifting prick with as much chance of buying United as you or me. Anybody who could make any kind of serious difference to the status quo wouldn't want to even be accidentally associated with him.

Potential is massive from 2022-2025. I don’t see it increasing beyond that.

We’ll be Aston Villa inside a decade without a buy out

I get your sentiment but shockingly yes, there is. Saudi Arabia is prime amongst them. I’m confident fan ownership would be a shit show too.
Barca are making themselves a pretty good advertisement for the pitfalls of fan ownership lately indeed.

At face value it's perfect, but adding elections, politics and all that comes with that to a football club isn't the best mix.

The David Icke of Man United folklore. Clown, should be given no time. Charlatan, wouldn't trust a word from him. Get rid of the crooks in charge, let's not listen to his drivel though.

Kudos for him to start asking the question even though its a futile effort.

We need some one like Jim Ratcliffe to come onboard and buy us from the leeches.

There should be a protest against the Glazers before every home game
Yep, I agree. Anyone trying to drum up interest from various parties is an ally in my books.

True, I'd rather have an owner who can invest heavily themselves and seeks to increase the success of the club. Downsides of that being with a club of United's size you're fairly limited to wealthy oligarchs who can afford that kind of investment. Even very wealthy businessmen tend to buy clubs, make big initial promises and investment, and then a few years down the line start trying to recoup their investment/losses. Given they're competing against oligarch clubs, it needs serious investment to compete. I'd be wary if I was a Chelsea fan about their new owners, especially when it's a consortium, as there will always be competing interests where some wish to invest, and others want to withdraw some funds.

The ideal owner would be an independent billionaire who can self fund, and isn't crazy. My second preference would be fan owned (the model I describe, others exist). Third preference a consortium of wealthy investors. Fourth preference, independent owners who try to balance the books but have some capability for investment. Fifth and final preference is what we have currently, owners who saddled the club with huge debt and take revenues out of the club.

United is so big, so well supported, and pre Glazers was debt free and generating huge revenues, if any club could be fan owned and compete with oligarchs and oil clubs it could/should have been us. What hurts is that we didn't even need big external investment, we just needed revenues to be invested back into the club. A fan ownership model could have overseen that.

Also, didnt mean to suggest you weren't aware of how club ownership model functions. I wasn't sure, but gave a generic explanation as it's also useful for other posters to read. I've seen a few posts before on here that associate fan ownership with fans voting on transfers and stuff over twitter.
No problem. I understand that you got some knowledge in this environment. Very good post. The model the Glazer are using is not the worst if they had somewhat different approach around fans, media and probably employees. Economically they have done a very good job. Sports wise they should have done what they are doing now right after Ferguson left. They got away with it with him.

I like your ideal owner, especially if that owner can be long term and wants growth. My ideal owner would probably be less rich and more hungry on both economic growth as well as the sporting side.

There were over 100 offers for Chelsea , I think we’d get similar numbers perhaps a little less considering location and similar valuation of 2-3 Bln considering recent events. In the world economy it’s not tht much when you have the likes of Microsoft paying 70bln for call of duty.

Hopefully he'll be able to find some affluent and like-minded people to back him up.

Then, before the takeover is completed, he will announce to kickstart the planning to play the first football match on mars.
Let's play the match on Venus if it means the Glazers can feck off.

I swear to you that I really wish that Paul Allen was still alive. He was loved by all of Seattle when he was the owner of both the Seahawks and the Sounders.
